Friend of friend got some weird ban few days ago. I found this picture (I covered name and account with black lines, to not point at someone directly). I am posting this here, because I am very scary as Steam Idle Master user, since Steam didn't told this guy for what exactly he got ban. In second row of his explanation you can find one short sentence which Steam wrote him as explanation for this ban. Maybe somebody here saw already some similar case, what is going on here? I have money on wallet and enough leveled and invested in it Steam account and my husband has more then 8000 cards/items in inventory and we both are using those programs for idling games for cards (idle master and asf). Are we all in danger from now? O-O

Huh?
What are you talking about, have I been living under a stone..?
Didn't they recently kinda say it's acceptable/don't care more or less in some post, can't recall.
Afaik they said something like you can't idle while playing VAC games because it'll give you errors.

They implied that heavily within the same event that put them on the VAC-bannableincompatibility list (along with other totally normal programs like CCleaner). In other words, you're fine to use them, just don't, y'know, play a VAC game during them [as VAC reads them the same as cheat programs]. :P

That said, the quoted image appears to have nothing to do with that topic. In fact, botting as it refers to Steam- doesn't that mean tradebotting or the like?

Edit: Updated to correct poor phrasing. [>>]

how is that possible?? since when is ASF or Idlemaster VAC protected for it to be a "VAC Ban"??

Wrong.
If you use Steam Idlers, while playing on CS:GO servers (for example), you can be kicked from server with an error "Disconnected by VAC: You cannot play on secure servers". Thats all. No VAC bans, just disconnect from server. Its not "VAC-bannable", it`s just conflicting software. Disable it and you can reconnect to your game and play.

What type of ban is it? VAC? Or full account ban without access to all games?

I will now ask my friend for further information and will let you know... :/

EDIT: He is offline right now, but since I can see profile of guy who is banned and I can check his steamrep page, I can see that his ban is not visible for community it seems:
Profile Privacy: Public
Trade Ban: None
VAC Ban: None
Community Ban: None

That is my steamrep page, but I told you I don't have this guy on friendlist, never had it, we just have friend common (but banned guy is also steamtrades and steamgifts user, not active, but still he is, so I can't say his identity, at least not before admins allow me to, I don't want get thread closed without getting answers)...

Well, according to the image you linked, it's a full account lock. That's not part of the VAC system, so I don't think it'd be indicated anywhere.

Probably it's not VAC, as far as I know, VAC you get when you cheat in games. Read second sentence from guy's question to see what Steam wrote to him as explanation for ban. They said "trafficking, laundering, or reselling of games or items"...

VAC actually covers cheat bans, trade bans, and community bans all. I wasn't arguing that it was part of the VAC system, I was noting that Steam may not indicate account locking in any way, and that sites that pull info off of Steam may not look for account locking the same way they do VAC related issues.

My guess is that he activated games using VPN, that violates steam terms

As I can see he is from Indonesia, they already have pretty cheap store, not sure if he had needs to do that. Anyway, as I said up, I wait for our common friend to come online to ask him more question and will post it here after I find out... :)
