Should this event be a regular thing?
i needed to scroll down to 77th game to find the first unplayed i want to play and still not played:-) Skip i guess, too bad i played all i want to play (about 60-70% of the game in the top100) and the bundled platformer/pvp/action games extend the list too much.
On other hand Hades is also a game i dont want to play so this is just a free bump:-)
Happy holidays!

could be done in a few days if you want just by playing the games what could be perfected in 1-10mins. Iam not that kind of player, but i still have a few very short one, mainly because i like walking sims, short story and puzzle games.
Enjoyable games > +1 perfect game still:-)
I hope you liked Day of the Tentacle Remastered, i love those oldschool point of click games:-)

Hello, me again.
I started a bit late but I hope you don't mind. =w="
Since i've beaten almost everything excluding the witcher 3 and the script extender, which is not.. really a game? I've marked 5 games down with yellow dots that I will hopefully finish by the end of this month.
Swapped Euro truck sim for Frog Detective 2. I re-read your rules and I feel confident enough saying it's impossible to beat so I switched it out.
1.) Day of the Tentacle Remastered - 100% achievements & playtime - Screenshots. - Review.
2.) Finding Paradise - 100% achievements & playtime - Unable to take screenshots, here is some music from the game though. - Review.
3.) Rakuen - 100% achievements & playtime - Unable to take screenshots. - Review.
4.) Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard - 100% achievements & playtime - Screenshots - Review.
5.) Manifold Garden - 21/25 achievements & playtime - Screenshots. - I beat it, but it's gonna take me two playthroughs to get 100%, and I do not think that's gonna happen this month.

Uhh I am so nervous because I didn't saw any Hades GAs yet.
Okay I am calm... breath in, breath out.
Head in the game (you see what I did there?)!
I have a few questions:
My choices would be between:
Expendabros, Cat Quest 2, Life is Strange, My Brother Rabbit, Portal Stories Mel and Left 4 Dead
Some have little game time on because I was farming for cards but never installed them. Is this ok for you or not?
Other then that what would "beat" mean with Life is Strange as it has episodes?
I will wait to play them after you give me green light for it (till then I can try to figure out how to make a nice looking table like some of the guys here have).
Game | Status |
---|---|
Expendabros | Completed |
Cat Quest 2 | Completed |
Portal Story Mel | Completed |
My Brother Rabbit | Completed |
Left 4 Dead | Finished |
Apperently I am too stupid to fit in 24 in one picture. So here I go with 12 face palm
So my line-up is this:
Update 1: Portal 2 removed due to achievements and Grimm because I only own Episode 1.
Comment has been collapsed.
Cj mentioned previously with games like grimm you would need to play every chapter and not just the 1st part so I assume life is strange requires all 5 beaten
Idle time is also fine as long as you haven't touched the games, looking at your games any achievements void you playing it so portal 2 you won't be allowed to play even though it was damn 7 years ago XD People want to play a brand new game after touching it once like a year or 2 ago but that long is amazing
I also cant fit 24 into my pictures only 21. You also got another 12 you can add on since you only posted 36

Ah I just asked my sister and apperently she tried it once. Didn't know it already has achievments. Thanks for the heads up!
Portal 2 removed!
And Grimm is also episodic... well then I have to drop it too because I only have the first episode.

I'm guessing its all campaigns done, it does have its own little story with blood harvest being the last one in the original game. but you can also play them in any order so I'm just giving it my best guess that all 5 have the be done to count as the like story route. Only cj can confirm really

What a nice idea!
It seem to be too late. That's why it might fail, but I try to participate because I have a lot time to enjoy games these days.
Thanks for opening this event :)

Yep it counts. As long as you get all your achievements after the event started, can add it to your post whenever. :)

I have missed this completely, oh my. Well, still some time to go. :)
I hope I have understood it right and selected the right games. :D
Great challenge, thank you for it! :)

So, I used a translator to understand what needs to be done for a challenge, so I would like to clarify whether I understood everything correctly.
Red color - the game doesn't fit the challenge.
Green color - game passed.
Purple color - I can't play at the moment because I didn't go through the previous parts.
Numbers - refer to the question number or game.

The first episode is free (I only have him)

5 - Batman Arkham City - started playing + - a week ago.

So the question is, if I complete these games, can I participate in the giveaway?
Comment has been collapsed.
Hi, Toni20! I'm not cj, but I can elaborate:
— you have to swap Grimm to something else: take a look at this comment
— you can't include Hotline Miami, because you have 3 achievements in it from 2016. For participating in the event, you can have counted idle time (for cards), but cannot have any old (before the event started) achievements. The same goes for the Batman: Arkham City GOTY (you have 2 achievements from 2013)
— Also, it's better to include this type of url for every game you have chosen: example — yours achievs for Detention; it's much easier to check if a game is allowed for the event and your progress in it.
So, according to your screenshots, you have 8 games you can choose from:
The Witcher 3, The coma 2, Detention, Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.1 Onikakushi, Portal Stories: Mel, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, Super House of Dead Ninjas, VVVVVV (if i haven't made a mistake anywhere; you should double-check)
(please note: The Walking Dead — nope, you have achievements from 2017)
Because 8 is less than 10, you can scroll a screen once more and add 3 more rows of your games. Here's a quote about it:
If you are still unable to find 5 games within that group, you can keep scrolling down with the condition that you have no more than 10 games to choose from. I.e. You can only go pass your top 48 if you have already played at least 38 your top games. Next three rows would put you at 72;
Keep in mind the event will ends on Jan 1st, 10pm EST.
Hope that helped

Closing thoughts on these games:
They're all spectacular, of course. Cube Escape for its feeling of uneasiness, Princess Remedy as a very well made shoot-em-up with lots of secrets, Smile for Me with its loveable characters and out-of-the-box puzzles, the banging soundtrack of Star Fetchers as well as its unique gameplay, and the over-the-top action of The Expendabros.
If I had to pick one to stick with me the longest, it'd have to be Star Fetchers. I'm a sucker for good music and style, and this one has one of the best in any game I've played.
Thanks a lot for the fun giveaway challenge!
I've just been playing the same games over and over recently; this has been a refreshing change of pace.

First and foremost !!Awesome event!! and Thank you!
Second I have 2 questions, sorry if they were already answered.
Question 1: Is it okay if I sort the games by "My games" instead of "All games"? I family share with people and rarely have access to their games and when I click All games it includes their games.
Question 2: How do you show proof/what do you qualify as a beating an open game? Such as Rimworld and Euro truck simulator. Should I just skip games that don't have and end game achievement/victory screen? For example if I get a bunch of achievements for Euro truck simulator and show they are from this month and an in game balance of like 10 million would that count as beating it or should I just skip Euro truck simulator and such games?
Thanks again.

Hey, thanks again for the heads up - I managed to catch CJ's attention with 20 hours to spare, and would have completely missed it otherwise. I would have slogged through those awful, yet surprisingly highly rated games, for nothing. :)
It may not mean much, given my lack of giveaways recently, but welcome to my whitelist. It's the least I can do to show my appreciation.

Hope I did it right. Will add my thoughts on the games before the start of 2021.
A few brief personal thoughts:
Cube Escape: Paradox was a really interesting one. I don't think I've played an "escape room" type of game before, but I was hooked from the get-go by the weirdness and the gameplay approach. I liked it so much that I bought the Chapter 2 DLC without a second thought. The fact that the devs have made a lot of similar games in the past and that they all reference each other in some way, I found really cool. Same with way the game integrates and interconnects with the Paradox movie. I would describe the whole thing as surreal. I will definitely play the other Rusty Lake titles.
Baba is You - I can see why the game got Overwhelmingly Positive reviews. It is one of the most unique games I've seen in my life, and that is no small feat. It really is one of those abstract, brain twister type of games. And the title really is fitting, despite seeming weird at first glance. I only wish the music was more memorable. I suppose that if I were a programmer, I would enjoy it even more. It seems like the type of game meant for them first and foremost. Just like with strategy games.
Backbone: Prologue - This was only a prelude to the full game, so I'm not sure if the quality of this title is telling for the rest of the games from this developer. Anyway, the "everyone is an animal" trope has been done many times before, but I believe this is one of the few point and click adventure games featuring it. Since there isn't much story in this short title, I can't tell if the writing of the main game is that strong or not. The high review would lead me to believe that it is. And the dialogue I saw in this prologue was certainly good (there is a potent drug, that seemingly will become a major plot thread, called monkeybutt), just nothing amazing. The aesthetic and music were definitely top notch though. Oh, and I guess furries will enjoy this title even more. Especially the little brothel scene.
Grimm's Hollow was very cute and... what do people call it nowadays? Ah yes, wholesome. Though the story is by no means happy or the best I've seen in an RPG, each main character was well-developed and relatable, and the ending(s) packed an emotional punch. Even the chocolate cake loving Grim(m) Reaper was relatable. Yes, reapers stuffing their skullfaces with donuts, cakes, oolong tea and other baked goods, not out of hunger bud for curing exhaustion and depression, is totally a thing. I guess the only major turnoff this game has is for people that just can't stand turned based combat (example: Ross Scott). Nothing wrong with that, but it'd be a shame if you missed out on this short and (bitter)sweet experience. I really can't find a flaw with it. It really reminded me of Earthbound.
Helltaker - Another short one, and pretty easy too, barring the hard as nails final encounter. What can I say, the game delivers on all fronts. There isn;'t much gameplay, music, story and the writing doesn't take itself seriously at all, but I doubt anyone can call it bad by any means. What is there is very good, though. This is clearly the fan service type of game, what with all the characters being hot, crazed daemon ladies. Yes, even Beelzebub.
Enigmatis 2: The Mists of Ravenwood was probably the best Hidden Object Game I've played thus Far. Of course, it is a casual type of game and compared to the big, polished, popular franchises, this is nothing special, but still everything about it was pretty well done. It would've helped if the main character didn't get easily tricked by the antagonist of the previous game, pretending to be someone else (there is actual continuity in this HOG series, what a concept!). But other than that, the story as qute good, in my opinion. And serious too. There are a lot of dead bodies in this one.

I'm not sure that Backbone: Prologue counts as a full game, it's kind of a demo for the future game.

update:
so close, but.. I failed :(
I should've started earlier/played more during these festive days.. maybe I could've rushed more TheComa2, but that would've been really a pity, such game needs to be fully experienced..
oh well, I may try another time, another challenge.. for now, HAPPY NEW YEAR!! ;D

Im too lazy to screenshot, but I appreciate the challenge. However, it's not really fair. I have 3 games at 98%, 16 games at 97%, and then a whopping 30 games tied at 96%, of which only the ones that come first alphabetically would count. I'll ignore that whole bunch.
Here's my breakdown of the first 19
5 that I've finished:
Portal
Day of the Tentacle (does it count that I finished it way back when it first came out, or does it need to be finished in Steam?)
Hotline Miami
The Wolf Among Us
Slay the Spire depends on how you define "finished", doesn't it?
7 Games that can't be finished: should Slay the Spire belong here?
CSGO
Left4Dead
Hexcells Infinite
Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament 2004
Tabs
Slime Rancher
7 games I haven't finished:
Hat in Time
Portal 2
Curse of Monkey Island
Dishonored
Half-Life 2
Mark of the Ninja
South Park, Stick of Truth

Whoops, apparently I can't read. Going through the next 30 games (to get to 49; screw you for not letting me go over) I've completed 9 more games:
Batman Arkham
Cuphead
FTL
Life is Strange
Civilization IV
Civilization V
Tomb Raider
Undertale well, my son finished it, but it's on my account
The Walking Dead

Hey all, its your local Zoidberg again and it is time to make the bank regret their decision on giving me credit :D.
The challenge is simple: Play and beat 5 out of the top 24 games (according to Steam reviews), starting today, that you currently own in one month.
The prize: 5x Hades
Note: This means I'm giving away five copies of the game and will have 5 winners.
Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 5 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 5 +30h games. So long as they are one of your top games, we are good. Also, price of the game does not matter. If the game is free, that is okay.
How to enter: Post a comment with a screenshot showing your steam library sorted by "Steam Review" (example below - Picture 1). Also include either screenshots/achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add you on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.
FAQ:
What if have already played most or all of my top games?
First, congrats! :D
Second, screw you, you show off -.- jealous
Third, scroll down a row and take two screenshots. One showing the original top games in your library. The second showing the new row of games which include the ones you played for this event. (Example below - Picture 2)
How far down can I scroll? Can I scroll indefinitely? :D
-.-
I'm allowing 3 extra rows of games. That is 8 per row or 24 extra games for a total of 48. If you are still unable to find 5 games within that group, you can keep scrolling down with the condition that you have no more than 10 games to choose from. I.e. You can only go pass your top 48 if you have already played at least 38 your top games. Next three rows would put you at 72; you need to play at least 62 before going to the next 24 and so and so forth.
What about that other event "Monthly in a month"? Can one game count for both events?
I was on the fence about this one but the answer is yes. If you play a game that satisfies the conditions of this event and the other event (either the one that is currently running and the next edition which starts on Friday), then it can be applied to both. Just keep in mind that the other event doesn't start until the new HB Choice/Monthly launches, so if you play a game now with the intention of having it apply to both, you need to wait till after HB releases the new bundle on Friday. Otherwise, you could only apply it to the edition which is about to end this weekend.*
I want you guys to have fun. I don't need you guys to hate me for making you play 11 games this month. :p
Why 5/24?
24 since it is the most I could fit in a screenshot by putting the steam client on full screen. 5 seemed like a decent target.
Event ends on Jan 1st, 10pm EST. For all that is holy, do not wait till the last minute to submit your entry. I do not need to spend New Year's Day refreshing the thread to make sure I got everyone.
Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
P.S. Feel free to comment below your thoughts about the event and your answer to the poll.
