**UPDATE: Lots of people are reaching out to me asking if there's anything new to my cause, will sadly there isn't...

The sales are ending, i'm gonna miss Ground Zeroes, Final Fantasy VII and Castle Crashers' sales :'/....oh well

In response to some popular opinions in the comments:
1- Yes, i 100% acknowledge that it was my fault...but the reason of this whole thread is that the support didn't even try to help nor is willing to transfer my funds to a friend
2- Yes, i've tried dozens of VPNs....still locked away from my money :') . It really sucks because like, i've took the risk at first because other people are activating and buying stuff in my region/area and they just get away with it... i still don't know why the hell is my luck this bad and that i can't buy even with the same proxy they're using....
3- No, i can't buy tf2 keys or market items because i have to wait for 30 days

Anyways, although i kinda feel the urge to ask the people for the three games i mentioned above...but i'm trying to damage control my urges because i don't usually ask for free games (on a giveaways site...oh the irony xD !) sooo yeah...

Thanx for your concern and see you around :). Maybe i'll update this once more if anything new happens

ORIGINAL POST: This is honestly unbelievable, the Steam support is the worse i've ever dealt with and The most unprofessional.....

http://i.imgur.com/NJkleKP.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/HlDzNpQ.jpg

My story is, well, you can find it in the support ticket image i uploaded above. Do you honestly think this is fair? How can I have 50$ of funds in my Steam wallet that i can't do shit with?

I just wanted to share this with you all, really felt like this should get some buzz. It's not that there's nothing that can be done to my issue, they can simply change the region of my account and nothing will explode or whatever and honestly this whole regions thing is becoming more and more stupid, this is 2015 and anyone with an Internet connection and a PC is a potential customer but what was done to me is a show in complete injustice and i wouldn't be surprised if that kind of response came from a personal hatred of sort

I really need a hug as well :| , gonna miss the Summer Sales

Gotta say it but you're kind of at the fault here. You knew you were in an area where steam didn't offer their service and thus aren't obligated to offer support, used means to bypass the region restrictions (which by the way is prohibited in their ToS and can result in losing your account) and on top of that you used someone else's identity which is another can of worms for support. You can say all you want that you did it on their permission but how do they know you're not lying?

So, did you wrote to Gaben ?

Tell us if he will reply to ya

Also - buy TF2 keys, find some good soul that will buy the games for you and when the keys become tradeable just exchange them for those games bought by that person

This is not Steam's fault or problem.

US President Obama issued Executive Order 13582 on August 17th, 2011. It makes it illegal for US citizen/companies (Steam is a US based company) to make sales in Syria.

You can email Valve/gabeN all you want, but they're not going to violate national law over $50 worth of computer games. That's ridiculous.

The problem you have is with US global economic policy (specifically with the mentioned sanction against sales in Syria). Email the President Obama and register your complaint with him.

they already made the sale, by letting him infuse Steam wallet with money. Unless they give it back, which hardly ever happens.

No they did not. He had a friend buy a gift card in a different country and then tried to make a purchase with it in Syria...where Steam is not legally allowed to let him make a purchase from them.

then you're right, he's pretty much screwed.

He can cross his fingers really hard that the sanctions will be lifted sometime soon and then he can hop on any sales that are not restricted in his region (due to developer or publisher stuffs) :P

Yeah...let's all wait around for the US to stop being pissed at Syria

They can't change your region because they would be falsifying information.
You can't expect companies to break laws just because it would benefit you.

Oddly enough this might be one of the few occasions that it could be fairly said that Obama is responsible for some random complaint online.

Your issue is a matter of detail and finesse for the Steam Support. Didn't read all the comments but my best and single advice would be to contact Gaben.
Here is the contact page -> http://www.valvesoftware.com/email.php?recipient=Gabe+Newell

Post this on reddit, let it go viral. That's the only way one of the "big guys" at Valve will hear about your problem.

All it would do would get him told that he was violating the terms of service he agreed to abide by and that it's illegal for Steam to sell him games because he lives in Syria and Steam is a US based company...kinda like he's being told here.

Steam support seems to always be 100% useless, I feel your pain as they screwed me around with steam wallet too... (which is why I really TRY to keep it close to empty, since it's no longer "real" money now either)

At least your guy wasn't as insufferable of an arrogant prick as the assmunch that I had to deal with... Your guy is just the standard "useless"

Hope you figure out a way to get everything resolved, and stay safe!

Actually his guy told him what the problem was. The fact that he won't accept it isn't support's fault.

So, because you're region is not supported, possibly for reasons dealing with your government rather than Valve's political views, and you try to work around the region restriction by posing as your cousin through using his information, their customer service sucks? What do you expect them to do, violate their own policies?

If your country is under sanctions, just pirate the games you want to play and later, when the time comes, buy them on steam to thank the developers. It's nice of you that you wanted to purchase them, but Steam or any other US/EU based store will not sell them to you right now. Maybe Nuuvum or what's their name...

The first two paragraphs of yours where not necessary.

Why didn't you check wheter you can buy games first? Also, why didn't your cousin buy you the games? Or trade them.

Look, I am sorry you've come across this issue and been met with little help but...
Worldwide does not mean every country. If a company is not based in your country you always need to check if they do business in your country (and this can change). Trust me, Valve would love to sell you all of the video games, it doesn't matter where the money comes from to them, but laws and trade regulations from a company's home country, the buyer's country, and larger regional bodies like the E.U., NATO, or UN, prevent them from doing business in certain places. Developers also can have a hand in limiting where Steam can sell games by using region locks or just not providing keys for some regions. Everyone seems to interpret all of this as Valves fault all the time when it just isn't the case usually. Valve makes money selling games, they have no motivation to artificially limit who can buy them. They also want to be able to keep selling games so they're unlikely to risk the ramifications of intentionally lying for you about your region to avoid laws or region locks.
This is a matter of the few (genocidal dictators) ruining it for the many.

Out of curiosity, how did you buy the 100+ games currently on your account?

Good luck, I hope you find a solution.

Damn, that sucks.

Your money isn't locked forever - if you run this carefully you might be able to buy keys or stuff off the Community Market and trade them to people for games. Expect a loss though.

I wonder if it's a legal thing, like maybe they can't sell stuff there right now? If not then this is some shitty business.

Excecutive order 13582

Valve isn't allowed to sell in Syria because of laws. They'd love to sell to you because they're a business and don't care where the money comes from but as world isn't a big conspiracy they can't do as they please.

Ah there it is. OP should read section 2.

In a nutshell, Valve employees risk jail time if they sell to Syrian Steam users.

So it's not exactly Valve's fault.

While this does suck, and i am not sure how you will be able to use the wallet.

Though maybe you should have looked into it further to see if they really support your region and such before going all in,just because something says available worldwide does not always imply every region/Country usually if it is anywhere, they will say available everywhere.

By the response you got i can only assume you will forever have a 50 dollar wallet that you can not use as if they do not sell in your region they can not take from your wallet, not sure what you could do.

Also if no place sells steam wallet codes that might be for a reason and in your case because they do not sell to your region.Sometimes they can not sell to a region because of laws and other bs.So that might be your case.

Steam support has always sucked and will always suck unless people stop buying from steam and tell them it is because of bad support, you will have to force them to have good support, sadly that how most things are now

Also if you could not add funds or purchase within your region from Steam, why would you think using someone else info or another region would by pass that. You can not lay all the blame on Steam because you spent money before seeing if said product would be available for your region, you just assumed so,so you are partly to blame

You really should close this thread. We know their CS sucks but you're putting them in an awkward legal position advertising this still. They're obligated to block access to you and the fact you can still access Steam is going to force them to lock you out personally. Complaining directly to the billionaire owner of the company is only going to force him to do more so he can keep his billion dollars instead of losing it in court. Just be happy you can still play the games you have.

That sucks well there will always be another sale and maybe steam won't be jerks like that hopefully. But at least you didnt miss much. Sales were terrible. Devil May Cry franchise was on daily but their bundles cost more then buying the stuff individually, then Ark game was on sale for 17percent off before the sale and went on Daily Deal and guess what the discount was ;p 17percent still and it didn't even end before it hit Daily Deal.
