No way. I'm happy with my 360 controller and if I had to replace it I would buy the Xbox ONE controller

If it's priced reasonably, I would definitely buy it. Looks really promising.
Though, of course, I'd like to check it out in action first.

Absolutely. Depends on the price when i buy it but i will, for sure. I was never 100% happy with my Xbox 360 pad, alone the digi pad is awful...and after 1 year and 3 weeks my left stick didn't got back to the middle...Microsoft only replaces the pad within one year(asses!)...
Why i think the controller from Valve will be better as current gamepads? It will be much more precise as other pads...i played competitive games in leagues years ago and i prefer high sense mouses...to play a game with that normal sticks was not good, especially shooter and so on...that could change...because of the high sense mouses its hard to play on a TV. with that controller i could play some of that games on it...maybe...depends how good it is in the "real life"...if Valve brings what they say...but i think so...they only fucked us one time until now^^...
The other thing is the compatibility with all games. It just "emulates" the buttons and so on, that's great...
The only fear i have are racing games...i dont think that will work well, but we will see...when not it would be the right time to buy a wheel again :D....

Yes... While I'm definitely a mouse+keyboard gamer, I'm building a PC to hook up to my TV, and have been interested in using a controller... I've always loved trackpads over mice (for general computer use, not gaming) and hated joysticks, so I'm incredibly excited for it...

I like my 360 pad for many 3rd person games, but I'd be more than willing to buy a Steampad too if it is a sensible price (less than £25)

Probably yes, but I need to try it first (or at least read/watch some reviews before). I'm not sure that it will be comfortable in longer gameplay (more than 1.5 hour of continuous rubbing rubber-like material might be worse than using elements provided by current xbox/ps controller).

No, it's just have too small amount of buttons for me. Sometimes I have leak of keyboard. The gamepad is pretty unefficient for me.

Sorry, but I simply don't believe they found the holy grail of gaming. To me it looks like a mediocre mixture of controller and keyboard/mouse controls. A real controller will still be (slightly) better for controller games and a real mouse/keyboard will still be (much) better for mouse/keyboard games. Unless you absolutely can't be bothered to switch controlling devices between games I think it's utterly pointless. Of course you never know, but it's not that hard to imagine how the controller works. It's a hybrid that may be interesting for pure console gamers who would use it instead of a regular controller (so they can at least play games that aren't suited for a controller, even though it may still not feel like keyboard/mouse), but I don't see any use for it in PC gaming.
It was clearly made for the whole 'big picture' thing they have going on so you can play keyboard/mouse games on your couch in your living room, a place where you simply can't use keyboard/mouse comfortably. Since I like to play games on my desk like most PC gamers probably do it's not interesting to me as I have better tools to get the 'job' done.

Speak for yourself about not being able to play KB/M games comfortably from a couch. I put a swing arm onto the coffee table next to my couch seat, problem solved.

At least where I live coffee tables are far too low to be used comfortably. The average desk has a height of 30" while the average coffee table only has 20" or less. Plus a couch is large and soft, while a desk chair is stiff and (in comparison) small. You have to bend yourself a lot to get down to your keyboard and mouse. There may be some workarounds and some people may even be fine sitting like a crooked cane, but I think it's safe to say that under normal circumstances keyboard/mouse are not ideally used while sitting on a couch in a living room.

I game on a laptop so I just hook up a mouse to it and need something extra on my lap (else it gets a bit hot, also need to take breaks for that) and something like a book I use as a surface for the mouse ( with a mousemat on top).
do this when I'm sick at home in my bed.

The steamcontroller looks nice to me, but I will be waiting to test one myself before buying if I like. I currently have a wired Xbox360 controller and I'm happy with it, my gaming PC is plugged to the TV and I also have wireless keyboard (with touchpad) + wireless mouse for some games. There is also a desktop PC with only wired keyboard/mouse, so I can always to what I want :)
