I just started Rising Sun, Falling Shadows, which is based on the Tannhäuser board game.

The Royal Succession, book 4 in the Accursed Kings series by Maurice Druon. The entire series was only recently translated from French and is about the decline and fall of the Capetian dynasty in the 14th century. Dense and rich with history but still peopled by wonderfully realistic and deep characters.
I'm also reading Agincourt: Henry V and the Battle That Made England by Juliet Barker

Huh, you're right. I thought the other books were also Game of Thrones but with the extra titles being subtitles. (Like, say, with the Harry Potter books). I was quite confused since I had also heard the series was called A Song of Ice and Fire.

I'm reading A Dance With Dragons by George R. R. Martin, absolutely love this series. I want to finish it before I catch up on the show (still need to watch last season then I can continue with the upcoming one. :D)

This thread remembers me to continue "Candide" by Voltaire ...

And if comics count, I've recently started Fables. The way they keep changing artists and sometimes even character designs is a bit jarring (but at the same time I do find it interesting to see them from different povs) and the writing is pretty good.

Well, I don't really read graphic novels/comics but I did just finish playing The Wolf Among Us and really loved it. I haven't played many other Telltale games but I can't imagine I'll like any of the other ones as much as I did that game, quite good!

Yeah, that's the reason I picked it up actually! I loved The Wolf Among Us and reading Fables is answering so many of the questions I still had after finishing the game. I've heard great things about Tales from the Borderlands, but I've been wondering whether or not I should get through the original games before playing it...

Recently finished An Excellent Mystery:The Brother Cadfael Chronicles by Ellis Peters Terrific book, people may have heard of the brilliant tv show starring Sir Derek Jacobi as the 12th century Welsh monk/herbalist Cadfael which adapted many of the stories in the mid-90s.
Still reading:Agincourt: Henry V and the Battle That Made England by Juliet Barker
And I just started 1356 by Bernard Cornwell

Piers Anthony's Split Infinity. I'm really trudging, though- It's nowhere near as fun to read as a Xanth book. When I finish with it, I might go back to Orson Scott Card's Homecoming series, of which I read the first book recently.

I've heard such good things about that series, no idea why I haven't gotten on the hype train yet. (Other than when I was in a big fantasy mood I binged the A Song of Ice and Fire series instead.) On the bright side I won't have to wait as long for the upcoming book. :P

I had to wait a few years just for A Wise Man's Fear, and I think all the waiting and hype made it a bit disappointed (still a good book, but I like the Name of the Wind better). It's been awhile since even the second one has been out that I've forgotten to keep checking if the third one is out lol

Currently in the middle of The View from the Cheap Seats: Selected Nonfiction by Neil Gaiman (I love Gaiman, his narration for audiobooks are also superb!) and The Rental Heart and Other Fairytales by Kirsty Logan. :)

there are constantly threads for music, movies, and games, but so little love for the written word!
I'm currently reading Uprooted by Naomi Novak. I thoroughly enjoy her Temeraire series and I highly recommend it to anyone who is remotely interested in historical fiction (even if you don't it's worth looking into).
update: Now reading "Blood and Iron" by a local author
