So I was celebrating my cakeday recently. It was quite a celebration and I made a lot of GAs. One of the winners (well, he was not the only one, but this topic is about him) posted on my profile that he had won and also sent me a friend request which I chose to ignore, as there were so many gifts to deliver and I hate being pushed.
The next day he added me again (d'uh) and I ignored him again. Another day passed and he posted in the giveaway he had won "Hey, I've won but I can't reach you".
At this point I got really annoyed by the guy and made him aware of the FAQ. They mention a period of patience of seven days in which the giveaway creator shall not be contacted (I so wish more people would read this). I also told him I had many gifts to hand out and that I find it unpleasant to be pushed that way.
He acted like "Had no idea a little comment like this would be seen as pushing. You could have told me you are short on time. I only added you to say hello and thank you - yea, really unpleasant. Whatever..."
I pointed out that it wasn't only about the little comment but all the actions he performed and how annoying it felt to me and sent him the game.
Well, now I found out he blacklisted me.

I remember when a game that I won was revoked from my account after a week , and I cannot contact the giveaway creator because he/she blacklisted me . I contacted the support , tell them that I marked as not received because game was revoked and , because I am a reasonable man , I am ok with the deletion of the giveaway . But , troieve , not always is good to blacklist someone .

I would have felt annoyed and probably reacted the same way as you.

That said, blacklisting you for that was just plain dumb. Let's ask Dr Kittycat if he can do anything about it...

People can be impatient..
When I added one of my GA winners and he accepted a few hours later, I clearly stated I was in-game and would send the game after I was done. He would keep on asking though, as if I forgot him. That gets a little annoying honestly.

So you wasted more time ignoring him than having to waste 5 seconds and deliver the game he won.

i once won a game and happened to log on jsut as i won it, so i figured i would make it easy for the creator and just add him myself to shorten his time. he flipped out on me and tried getting me rerolled just cuz he didnt like that i did that .

even tho i was very thankful for the game. i wished he wouldnt have been a douche about it lol

The next time this happens, I would suggest accepting the friend invite, marking the account (with a nickname, something like "Bad Rats Winner"), and sending a short message: "I'll get back to you." As others have already pointed out, most people who are annoying do not realize they are being annoying because they are not thinking about "the other point of view." You have to tell them.

For my own sanity, I use the following method:

  • Send out friend invite.
  • Mark the account with "<game title> Winner."
  • Wait for acceptance as a friend.
  • Move all "Winner" accounts to the category "Winners"
  • Check my "Winners" list and send them their games at my leisure.

I always ignore friend requests on steam of ppl I don't know (too many bot accounts nowadays anyway). It's simple, if I don't know you, I won't add you. And GA's rarely come as Steam Gifts, I luckily don't get too much trash in my friends list. Anyway, if I do, I cleanup rightaway. No sense in keeping a winner or someone you won something from in your friends list.

  1. Chill eeev. I know it's quite annoying, but Chill (May be your gift is super great he's so HYPE about getting the game and play it). ^w^
  2. Your comment permission is set to Public. Why didn't he just leave you a Thanks there instead of spamming Friend requests over days? I find that weird if that's the accuse he used.

Both of you are kind of jump the gun. My opinion, it's his fault. Just blacklist him and move on.

Mhhh... I love you! Too soon? No, but honestly that's what I am thinking. I was more eager in such discussion in the beginning, so I try to manage my temper, but it's basically that.
In every discussion about ratios and what not it's always the people mentioned that are justifying themselves. I have never seen someone with more games given going: "Mh, yeah, I like people being here only for the giveaways! That's all I am here for, to give them what they deserve. More gibs!"

Heh, this reminded me for a Rammstein song Haifisch :D
"Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Zähre fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist"

And the shark has tears
and they are running from it's face
But the shark lives in the water
So no one sees these tears

In the depths it is lonely
so lots of tears are flowing
and this is how comes the water
in the sea is salty"

While it's surprisingly almost poemlike from Rammstein, the music video references a lot of their older music videos, so it's not that serious as it looks for the first look :D

Um, I had to beg the winner of one of my GA's to accept the gift before seven days was up (gift sent almost immediately upon the GA being closed)... I finally sent a friend request, then posted on his Steam profile, and finally sent an email on the last day. I finally created all the necessary documentation on the 7th day to deliver to support for a re-roll only to have the guy mark it as received in the final hour. Then not a word of thanks. Yeah, I blacklisted him immediately thereafter - please don't make me hunt you down to accept a gift and then fail to thank me.

Corker? A post on my Steam page "thanking me for blacklisting him". Gotta love people :-(

For the record, if you can't send a simple thank-you for a gift, then I will blacklist you. Manners matter and if you don't think they do, then blacklist me immediately. The world runs on goodwill and basic human decency. MAHAYO!

Agreed 100% although one comment on my profile doesn't appear to like it, suggesting that the very act of seeing gift marked as received should be enough. Yeah.

Before I start things off here and I'm not going to make it long, but the last comment that was deleted was not me as a forewarning, because of the atrocity of this thread and how inaccurate it is, though I don't know why I'm bothering to bring upon some justification, I just thought I'd let say that I'm not phased by this because everybody seems to exaggerate a lot anyway.

To put things forth, I'm not here to fuel the fire or create more drama that already is, but to bring upon some light..

One of the winners (well, he was not the only one, but this topic is about him) posted on my profile that he had won and also sent me a friend request which I chose to ignore, as there were so many gifts to deliver and I hate being pushed.

Yes I noticed I was not the only one, however I did not friend request you at all because I am not that kind of person to friend request someone unless there has been some small exchanges if your comment section permits me to do so which also includes your

Please do not add me if you win a game from me, you'll receive your game in time.

However, I did end up thanking for the won gift 6 hours and 28 mins later when it has ended. I only ended leaving a comment on your steam profile when I noticed someone had mention their gift hasn't been sent (which in approx was about a whole day after the giveaway ended), though I cannot attest to when that time was because the comment is now deleted. In regards to my comment on your Steam profile I can't prove it since http://steamcommunity.com/my/commenthistory/ doesn't show deleted items/comments anymore, though I just gave up after realizing you weren't going to have any exchange with me whatsoever, which was indeed, before the 7 day mark of a given giveaway. I deleted that comment approx 3-4 days into the ending of the giveaway (while seeing everybody has theirs received).

To everything else written, is fairly incorrect so I will not be further giving my comments on those (especially friend requesting/being pushy)

Also it wasn't my 12th win, but rather my 5th and I only blacklisted you recently about 7 days ago.

All the tabs in the image above, is the giveaways I entered and what the comment shows in there (was planning to record everything to show my side of the evidence of things, but it deemed rather pointless to me), is not what you claim it says.

And yes I know this was me, like I said though, not sure why I'm bothering to justify anything or fuel the fire, I just thought it was rather amusing to me when I'm about to go over to the Port Mann bridge sometime this weekend and move on. However, if you don't think I'm serious since this is the internet after all, by all means I couldn't care less, but before I go, if anyone wants anything out of me, I'll be willing to provide, as long as it isn't about me or anything that is concerning my actions, plus I've already removed myself from all giveaways, the reason why I'm here currently is because I still have something to giveaway since it was already created and I want to go through with that before my departure, thus during this time span that is remaining, like I've mentioned, if anyone really wants anything I'd do it, as long as it seems reasonable on my side of things, minus stopping my actions. It's fine if you don't believe me, but only time will tell. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

I'm ill, bipolar, and everything mentally involved so I guess I'll be ridiculous enough to say that might've been very unreasonable of me to blacklist you, but it doesn't matter anymore. This was sort of my outlet at the time, but heh. #9's video is true in so many ways, people don't talk about it in media or portray it much because of the stigma involved and how it can cause things such as #8 to happen. I would say more, but I rather not.

EDIT since thread closed and other things.

ev and I have worked out the issue and now that I have doublechecked, I guess I know who she's talking about, but I also happened to blacklist her, not solely because of lack of gift, but other things, though we have communicated and things have been sorted out.

@Maximum, no comment

@spacefall, just as much as I am justified taking my own and I'm not going to go into how much in terms of doctors have treated me in regards to said subject.

Man this time game is a bitch though, I thought I had 24 hours when my last giveaway starts, but it's a week, so I guess I'll wait until next weekend and yes it's odd that I'd stick around 'til then, but I still rather leave with integrity than not. Nobody can talk me out of this, based on my Steam profile since all "friends" really aren't friends.

Oh and this further proves nobody wants anything much to do with me, just like when Kevin Hines was about to go (The Bridge, 2006, he mentions this in the interview and it's surreal.)

Six years ago, when Hines was in high school, he started hearing voices. His torment became so intense that he finally decided to kill himself. One day, as usual, he attended his first class, then took a bus to the bridge, crying all the way.

"I had heard that the Golden Gate Bridge was the easiest way to die. I heard that you hit the water and you're dead," Hines said. "And I remember picking the spot. This is the good spot. I'm not too close to the pillar. I won't hit the pillar. I'm not too close to the land. I won't hit the land. I'll hit the water and I'll die."

Hines stood on the bridge for 40 minutes. No one approached him to ask what was wrong. When a tourist came up and asked whether he could take her photo, Hines said that was the final straw -- clear proof that no one cared.

Especially the photo part, because I've been there. People don't care man.

While I'm not exactly objective in this issue ( Ev vs somebody I don't know) but I still think that everyone overreacted - I can only speak for myself, but I always have an extra 20 seconds to accept a friend's invite if I know who's sending it and throw a message about " hello, I know you're from SG. I have a lot of giveaways to send, I'll contact you in a few days, please be patient" and then continue what I was doing. On the other hadn there's no reason to push that much the creator. But this issue does not need more random words, sooooooo...
What about cooling the situation and listening to this awesome song? (yes, I'm kind of a slowpoke to find music and stuff) :)

Wow.. this is a lot to read.. i guess i am still new to steamgifts and i can see why the creater and the receive have such different idea about how situation was handled...

Personaly i havn't really win anything at all except 2 massive giveaway from developers.

But i am giving out gifts from giveaway i created. I actually want those person to receive as soon as possible so i can send more gift...

So what i do is i send a friend request to everyone that won from my giveaway. Wait a day.. if nothing happened.. i will leave a message either in giveaway or in person's steam profile. I can see in the future when I reach high level it may become hard to do with so many more giveaways.

I think you are the one who was rude here. While I personally never add people whose gifts I have won, I think it is unfriendly to ignore him 2 times and to post comments telling him to read the FAQ and wait (which is pretty much the same as saying "Noob l2p"). Also, in that time, you could have sent him the gift.

In the end, I can understand why he blacklisted you.

I don't mind winners contacting me, i always double check the person adding me is indeed the winner, once there was this guy who added me pretending he was the winner. But if they're really pushy or impolite i let them wait till the 7 days limit.

Seems just like a simple case of not putting yourself in the other persons position.
He should have patience and give you the time to do your thing. Getting add as friend is annoying with all those bots around and I can also see how it can be frustrating with the amount of giveaways you made. He shouldn't be worried about getting the game if he looked at your profile. And if he got ignored after the first add, he should kind have gotten the hint,
But from his point of view, he was excited he won and he didn't see the problem with contacting you first.
