Do you and your friends want to dominate the Saliverse? Choose your group and race for control of the map. If your group's Saliens defeat the most enemies on a tile you'll claim it as your own. The groups with the most tiles when a planet is taken will get to plant their flag as conquerers, undoubtedly gaining Saliverse-wide fame in the process.

On the other hand, this claiming should be part of "beating" the planet and then winning the games. Unless it's really just on a 24-hour cycle and the wording is very vague intentionally :/

Apparently you increase your chances by remaining longer on a planet. Dunno about any other modifiers, FAQ is very vague indeed.

Counter increases without being in the game... I guess it's to prevent people from just joining all planets and getting great odds. I'll just pick one and stick with it. I guess go to all, then go hang at the final one is a better option though.

So I've gotten to to level 3 in the minigame, and it tells me to look in my inventory for the reward. Anyone know what I'm supposed to be looking for? I never got a notification. Maybe it will pop up after the servers start working reliably again.

Maybe you got the items already. It gives you costume parts and cards but the servers are slow.

Valve is using an external content hosting service. Paying a little extra each year to scale out during sales wouldn't cost much compared to their yearly server rentals. But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Gods forbid paying more than they absolutely have to.

Weirdly, the game was the first thing that worked for me. You get a somewhat customizable alien and you have to fight.. other aliens? Kind of like a manual tower defense. Apparently, the more time you spend, the higher chances you have to win giveaways, and leveling up also gives you outfits for the alien, which are fortunately marketable.

You're not missing much. It's a clicker-shooting game where you have to kill some invaders in the planet of your choice. I got my alien up to Level 3 and I don't think I can keep playing this anymore...

Just start a game and then reload page. It reloaded automatically for me because game didnt work and it dropped card. I checked one time and even got a card when I reloaded manually.

Oh, it gets better. Here is an excerpt of the minigame's giveaway rules:
To manually enter the Giveaway, each eligible entrant must print his or her name, address, city, state, country, postal code, email address, Steam account name (account can be limited or unlimited), and telephone number, as well as the name and date of the Giveaway that the entry is for, on a self-addressed 4”x6” note card and mail the completed form to: Valve Corporation, P.O. Box 1688, Bellevue, WA 98009-1688. Only note cards mailed in envelopes and postmarked during or within twenty-four hours after the Giveaway Period will be accepted. No e-mailed or faxed alternate entries are eligible.
They apparently forgot to add "oh yeah, and if you are not living in the US, you can go and fuck yourself." I am surprised they do not ask for a birth certificate and social security number, plus bank account number and PIN for safety's sake. =)

Wait. A lot. You are not the only one. Like the monster clicker minigame a few years back, it is essentially like all Valve code: totally broken and won't be working until they fix the field-tested issues. The monster minigame took 2-3 days to work without problems, but at least it was accessible half a day or so after launch.
The free cards drop window is 24 hours each day anyway, so you are not in a hurry to get them.
