Every now and then, somebody asks why some of us "throw our money away" on total strangers. Here is yet another example of why some of us love gifting.

But how do you know that the members are giving games just for the sake of giving and not for the purpose of leveling up and getting more games through high level GAs?

If you received a game for such reasons, would you care?

No, nobody actually would care for the reason behind them getting anything for free.
but you're saying that the people here just love to give games.
And I said that you can't be sure about that.

"...and example of why some of us love gifting."

Don't forget to read the qualifier.

Hmm, yes...
But what if you edited the thread and then a mod helped you so the thread won't show that it was edited?

Generally speaking, that would be a very poor return of investment. Giving away hundreds of dollars in games in the hope that you win more than that back?

Con confirm. Should have invested in bananas instead.

I did that for a while when I was playing the DK country game series. It was a rewarding investment!

Well, that's what a lot of people tell you when you join this site...
Whenever a new member posts a thread about winning giveaways most of the people will reply "make some GAs to level up.. etc"
And actually a lot of people here just give shitty bundle games. So, it's not always "hundreds of dollars".

Because I'm being gifted games from other strangers?

It's like a working relationship. Well, it should be.

Gaming has been my passion since I was about 4-5 years old, it wasn't until last year that I started donating to charities through Humble Bundle purchases, then I discovered this site and I stopped activating every single key since I knew I didn't have the time or the interest to play them all and started giving them away, it's better that someone else has fun with them!

Now this year SG accepted region locked GAs so I gave away Witcher 1 since I loved it myself and wanted to share the love, I also donated to another charity, so I can honestly say that my gaming experiences have helped me a little bit. It's not a lot, but it's what I can do right now, and that's enough for me and it's more than what I've ever done in the past :]

I'll side with the cynical ones and also assume this is just some PR stuff. Another example that I feel is not staged is this video. Yeah, yeah, that one covers a basic need item while here it's just luxury shit but I like to think the principle is the same. And like the story in the vid with the guy that got back on his feet and returned to the store to "pay back" the generosity he had come to know that's how I hope people that win giveaways will come back and create more giveaways for other users when they can.

I think I'd feel creeped out if someone did that to me. But I"m just a grumpy old man.

I've been on both sides and whenever I can, I like to give something to a friend or a stranger. It just brightens a day, and makes everyone involved happy. Doesn't have to be a AAA - just something you like and want to share; or something on their wishlist.
