1. What was the first system (console or PC) you bought with your own money?
    Whether you used your hard-earned paycheck or saved-up allowance... If you haven't bought anything with your own money yet, what do you want to purchase when you're able?

Optional:

  1. First system your parent(s) bought for you.
  2. Specs of first PC that you bought with your own money

Mine:

  1. PSX
  2. NES
  3. Pentium 3, 1.x GHz w/ an Nvidia FX 5500 (i think - it was crappy)

-edit-
love reading these, btw.
especially all the little stories and the surprisingly wide age range of the users.

Currently PC setup:

Graphics card: MSI R7 250 1GB GDDR5;
RAM: 16GB of DDR3 RAM in 4x4GB sticks;
CPU: AMD FX-8350 8-Core 4.0GHz;
Custom Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO;
Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2;
PSU: Corsair 500CX 500w;
HDD: 500GB Seagate Hard Drive;
Computer case: NZXT Source 210 Elite Black Steel;
Mouse: Kensington K72356US black;
Keyboard: Dell USB Enhanced Multimedia Keyboard SK-8135;
Monitor: Acer H6 Series H226HQLbid 5ms 21.5'.

Keep in mind, this build was made by slowly upgrading parts from a PC that a friend gave me. All the parts listed above have been added/replaced the ones my friend gave me, except the PSU, since that's still holding strong.

  1. Genesis, but years after its time like after the Dreamcast was out. Found it at a yard sale. First new system I bought was a Gamecube.
  2. NES, if you count my parents gifting me one that was given to them for free. Otherwise N64.
  3. I bought a GTX 670 for a computer I Frankensteined from old computers my relatives no longer needed/used/etc. I'll post my first complete from scratch build if anyone is interested.

I planned to post this a long time ago so sorry if this is seen as a bit of a necro post. I got busy with the planning of a relatives birthday and it was harder to track down the info than i thought it would be. Now without further ado!

The power supply was 500W. I think it was a Cooler Master.
I used that same GTX670 for the GPU. I know I said complete from scratch build, but I only used it in the other computer for less than a year before I started to crave more power so I think it still counts. It's probably the GPU I would have chose at the time anyway.
CPU was an Intel i7 920
Couldn't track down which motherboard it was, but I recall it being ASUS.
Western Digital 500 GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
Kingston RAM 8GB
No Optical Drive.
Windows Vista.
No sound card.
Logitech G500 Mouse
The keyboard was very plain. I think it was a Cherry.
Monitor was 17" I think it was an Acer.
Couldn't find the case.

So that probably wasn't as specific as you would have liked, but I'm hoping you still gained some pleasure from it! I guess a lot of my order histories got purged or something.

Probably N64, which I bought that after I joined the military. I spent almost my whole paycheck at the time, it was about 250 bucks. It was a hot item in mid to late 90s.

Gaming systems i bought for myself:

1st) My own desktop for gaming;

2nd) Xbox One;

3rd) PS4;

4th) Xbox 360 500GB (used, my elite 360 died last year and wanted a replacement for exclusives).

Prior to all this, i had bought a nintendo 3ds XL, which i gave away to my niece after beating pokemon Y shortly after it's release, hardly gave it any use before this. The only reason i bought the nintendo 3ds XL was because i was away from home, needed something to keep my busy when travelling, my laptop was crap back then. So i had to get a handheld console, i really never liked playstation portable and it's games, always had an interest in some nintendo titles, so that's where my decision came from.

First console my parents bought for me, PS2, Christmas of 2005. I got Kingdom Hearts with it. First console I purchased, 3DS, birthday 2011. I'm trying to save up for a half decent laptop for gaming. My mom's friend left one here a year ago and hasn't asked for it back yet. I'm gonna see about buying it.
