PLEASE IMPROVE THE USABILITY OF STEAM FIRST

My library only has about 100 entries and it's a real pain to manage those. Also it's full of bugs and not responsive enough to user input

this and they need to find a way to make a better offline mode. after these changes valve should focus on expandind their store but they should make sure there are many ways to customize the "new" libraries

"The 40 million gamers frequenting Steam are interested in more than playing games," said Mark Richardson at Valve.

and this is bad because... ?

I'm actually all for it! having issues with software like adobe products where installing and using across multiple machines becomes difficult. drm, like steam, is nice because I don't need a box or keys to manage, I can just download from my library and I'm ready to go.

so yeah, I'm all for it! but they need better ways of sorting the library first.

If Steam starts selling music and soundtracks I would enjoy it. But movies/software (like Word, MS Paint, etc.) is a no-no.

While I understand the worry, it's also quite possible you're worrying over nothing.

Kinda like how the radio industry was worried cassettes were going to kill them off. Or cds, for that matter. Its funny how much people freak out over something new.

Hey, remember how we were worried Xbox will kill PC gaming? Good thing it didn't... Oh, wait, it nearly did. And I also love how number of sold newspapers are getting bigger thanks to Internet... Sometimes things survive, other times they don't.

With Valve saying "fck Win8" I'd rather expect "fck PC" then "let's learn Linux" from publishers. So unless Valve will make some great tools that will change DirectX games into OpenGL with single click, I don't think they will spend all their time to make ports from Windows into Linux, and publishers for sure won't do that. And that might end with "Bye bye big games, hello indies and occasional Valve game"...

Yea.......I'd prefer they didn't. Obviously it won't (hopefully) affect me negatively, so I'm really not that worried. Though I do feel that Steam SHOULD be a digital distributor for games only.

How are we doomed now? More stuff on Steam, which now isn't exclusively games. So? There will be new games and old games on steam as always, but also some non-game software, which I don't think is actually bad. I mean, looking at the tools tab of my account I already see a couple of mod tools, bonus content from games etc etc.

And this is exactly why Gabe is pissed at Windows 8. He knows it's gonna cut into his profits. Welcome to the world. Gabe doesn't give a shit about you, he cares about your wallet.

It was so fucking annoying trying to argue with some of you on the other thread.
