You can also add in your profile picture some information that can hardly be copied by the impersonator, like the steam level or number of owned games. He the impersonator still copies that image, one can only hope for the victim to at least check the impersonator's profile and see the differences.

I've reported him on Steam with a link to this topic, hope that does anything though.

ikr~ wtf. If we all reported him already, y is he still doing this?

steam rep is not gonna do much for ppl who dont use/know the site, its up to valve to protect its users
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't know if it is really wishful thinking or huge naivete from your part there. :)
Valve support is understaffed and user reports are well-known to pend so long that… well, about as long as user reports here. They even stopped pretending that they care at least. With being almost a monopoly on the digital game market, they don't have to mask their intentions of not caring.
Comment has been collapsed.
yeah i realized that valve support is non existent . they really need to pick up their shit :/
Comment has been collapsed.
Valve don't really give much of a damn. They think placing a bunch of limitations on us to encourage market purchases will stop scammers. The fact it hasn't doesn't matter, they already did something, and now think with all the changes, that they shouldn't even be to blame.
(I'm tired, its early, I need a drink, and I'm cranky)

Hihi, I got idea and seems it work. He added two users in last 1h on Steam to attempt to scam them and I saw new added friends of him and warned them personally. I warned one in "last seconds" so they two are safe. I plan to do that whenever I notice that he added someone (and when I have free time for that "hunt" ofc)... ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes he did the same on his old profile. When he impersonated me it was public but after some other impersonating he went dark and made his profile private.

There is someone impersonating my profile too, but it's not the one you linked here. He scammed one and tried with another one that alert me before loosing something. I've reported him on steam, can i post his profile here without being hammered for calling out?
Why steam doesn't limit the times you can change profile name and pic to 1 for week or month? Life will be harder for those scammers
Comment has been collapsed.
I am not sure if is smart thing post it here, because here we hunt specially this guy. Maybe another link will confuse users, maybe on this website is some thread for "all scammers alert", but I am not sure, try to search a little... :)
P.S. Anyway good luck to get rid off him and bust him! ;)

Hey guys! I found out about this impersonator just a few hours ago, already changed my profile pic and of course reported him as many others did. Also wrote a warning in my steam thread. I don't know how Steam allows him to keep doing that when it's SO OBVIOUS how many times he did it. I will keep reporting him everywhere I find. I'm sorry for those who got scammed! Thanks to those who helped me get rid of any negative rep.

Interesting thing I forgot to mention. A couple of hours after Spensert and I were trying to contact Antarael, I was added by a low level user (both here and in steam), that I didn't remember having any contact with. I'm not going to say his name, but when I think of it maybe its another profile of the scammer. After I asked what he wants, he unfriended me.

I talked with this scammer. He is very ignorant and arrogant person, we talked at least 15 minutes, kinda long conversation. Anyway, he is very complexed creature. From psychological side I can type at least few rows about his character, but I think nobody care here about that. he is just lonely, friendless, maybe even parentless guy, who is doing this frauds because he hates everything around himself. As I told him, I will try come closer to his "soul" (just for fun, I need some lab rat for my post studies) and after our conversation I will stalk him more and more as I promised him. I see that people here stop to care about this right after he stop impersonate them, but I will not stop until he get banned at least on this profile (or maybe he can change, we will see)... ;)

I think this is interesting that you managed to have a full conversation with him. I definitely am curious.

In last 48h I used one "old school way" to warn people from his friend list that he is scammer. Few guys of those added me to say me thanks and ask me some random question and one of them last night told me that he also play CS:GO with him and if I want that he can put him inside our conversation. When I said Ok, try that he actually had bal*z to talk with me and so we talked. After that conversation I realized that he is just no lifer who want damage people and take some "gifts" as reward. I started feel sorry for him, he is really pathetic... :\

That's crazy! Have you been able to talk to him again at all, or are we just going to keep playing this game?

I decided to write a warning in my picture, at least until this guy stops using my name. This is how my feedback profile look now: http://i.imgur.com/GgKu0Nd.png you can clearly see the warning, maybe this will make it stop

We did it! We got him banned!
Friendly reminder, though, this will happen again and we should always keep an eye out. I'm glad that we have people looking out for each other. Happy gaming everyone!

Is this him doing it again? Impersonating alienM as I post this.

Hihi, nice catch, so here we go again, eh... I told him I would stop if he stop (at least on this account), but seems since he is lifeless this present much more fun for him then for me. Ok, so here we go again (at least I until he jumps off from my nick)...

It's weird, but he on this one he is impersonating me since 14th february it seems...

He is really retarded if he plan to destroy 12 years old account on this way. I will update up this thread with this "new" profile if I get information that somebody is scammed. Maybe he just put my picture to make me mad, but he kinda failed, I don't give a fu. So for now will not update up existence of this profile. Anyway, every report of community for this profile is well welcome...

This guy just wont stop time to report another profile what a shame a 12 year old account=<
Comment has been collapsed.
Anyway, maybe this is just a "distraction". Maybe he wrote my name with my avatar on this profile and meanwhile, while we are staring at this profile, he is scamming and impersonating some other users from another profile...
P.S. It's weird, but he on this profile he is impersonating me since 14th february it seems...

While I'm against scammers and impersonators, I can't believe how this thread isn't closed now for violating SteamGifts' rules about no calling out. Don't get me wrong, I don't want them to get away with all the impersonating and scamming, but this thread will be used as an example how a calling out thread was kept open for a week now.
Comment has been collapsed.
Lol, but which rule I (we) broken here? This is not first time that impersonator were exposed in public, with good intention to prevent their further scams. As you can see many scammed victims of this impersonator found this thread sooner or later, also many people here helped each other to clear negative reps which this impersonator caused them. :/

There is a warning on my now closed SG trade thread and one on the first entry of my SG trade feedback page.
These warnings I put in a ticket to SG support and they approved it.
You can speak and say that it's an impersonator and post warnings about him on your SG trade page and SG feedback page.
Warning about someone that impersonates you doesn't breach SG rules even if the impersonator is on Steamgifts.
But you can't call him for example a scammer.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sighery did a very good logical explanation, but I think this rule need an exception when someone, alone, harms the whole community users using steamgifts fake profiles. this is not even close to everyday issues. if you think about it, this problem does not affect specific users, but steamgifts itself. if more scammers decided to scam that way, soon or later steamgifts reputation will represent no credibility at all.

As long as it helps the SG Community.

A week ago, appeared global impersonator who is impersonating many Steamgifts users who have high numbers of positive repsand zero negative. He is taking their profile picture and fake there profile with one old trick - if user has in his/her nick small letter "L" he is making almost same url putting instead big letter "i" (he did that in 60% of cases). This guy doesn't have own Steamgifts profile, he just find "victim" and change his Steam profile (avatar, nick, custom url and description with url on "victim" inside it), his comments are locked (he seems very clever, you can't even comment on his screenshot or review, that's also locked), he has only one comment and that one he wrote for himself "I do not use Steam Profile reputation since it's useless. Only exchange rep in SteamTrades". He already caused few negative reps to innocent Steamgifts users (I already tried to clear some of them with talking with scammed people, for now only 1 negative rep is still damaging one of "victims"). Also, seems that this is not his first Steam account which he use for scamming. Apparently, he had another account which was trade banned one day before he started scam from this one. We, as community, need to unite with massive reports on Steam (because he don't have own Steamgifts account, but he does damage to Steamgifts users) so Steam can ban his second account, too. Please, bump this thread for sake of all Steamgifts traders - he destroy reputation of honest old traders and also scam naive new users.
