Money in motion, buying tier 1!
Crusade to the BTA for Tier 2!
What a stellar bundle, I'm buying Tier 3!
I'll think about it...
Got these all, sorry.
Nope. Too expensive for me.
Don't like Grand Strategy / 4X.
All in for charity!

I made sure to set the money for Paradox to zero. They have truly horrible DLC-policies. If you are planning to get CK2 or EU4, etc., make sure you check out what you are getting into. They release "expansions" with very few features for $20 each every few weeks/months. They do a great job of getting people hooked on their games and these addicts keep paying for whatever crap Paradox throws at them.

Any way you slice it, the value I’ve gotten out of CK II is absolutely incredible. Yes, even buying most DLCs.

I do think they could incorporate some earlier ones into the base game, though.

1) the base games are great even without the DLC
2) the expansions are unnecessary, but the added content will prevent the game from going stale, considering people put in hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of game play
3) time/value of paradox games is pretty good even if you buy all the DLC

The only problem is that the old DLC doesn't get a steep enough discount

It seems most games here contain fake empty DLC entries so that you can activate games you already own and waste keys. Wow.

Isn't it common sense to check what you own before activating anything? 99% of the time I already know what I have, but if I wasn't sure I would check first.

It's not common sense for publishers to put in traps so you can activate things you already own. I mean, financially maybe it is.

It's in the OP. Basically, they create an empty hidden DLC, and then create a new package that contains the game and the hidden DLC. And the worst part is that they have 2-3 such empty DLCs and packages. Even if you own the game (maybe you bought it from Steam Store, or activate from key in the past), if you are not careful and activate a key for a new package with a different empty DLC, you will waste your key for nothing.

i would buy a bundle of 5 paradox content DLCS for max tier, hell, even 4 if i could choise the DLCs. Paradox got too greedy, not even decent bundle offer.

Thats how the game industry goes now :( its sad day

goes only for companies whose got too big, but there are always decent small companies with big future whose creating great games stil as passionate developers without aiming to be richer than Bill Gates. Paradox monopoly on grand strategy business needs to end

I actually think Paradox is one of the few companies that does DLC right. The base games are great on their own, and the DLC is just extra, not essential or necessary, just a way to not let the game get stale. I do think the prices are a little steep, or looked at the other way, don't get deep enough discounts

do you play like eu4 without DLCs? Stopped to buy EU4 DLCs after cossacks, and i can tell you that the game is totally broken for playing on current patch without owning the last 5 DLC. The game is balanced so that it expect you to have the DLC. Colonies have way too high liberty desires, also vassals, because game expect you to decrease with developing them or build buildings for them, what you cant without DLC, that alone gamebreaking. I never ever seen independt colonies by 1600 on America, not owning DLC resulted that in my recent game. And thats just an example, patches makes just your game broken if you dont buy DLC, balancing is behind the paywall. Well, at least we can revert game on steam to older version to make game work properly and balanced.

Same for when CK2 went all "ok special retinues for people who own this special DLC". It's actually P2W :D.

Need to think about this. If they included both Pillars' DLC would buy instantly, now I'm in doubt.

Majesty 2 Collection

I love it when one of my top wishlisted games ends up being tier 1'd out of nowhere.. :D

It's not even a fraction as good as Majesty 1, not that anyone here actually plays games.

I want Stellaris but sadly, too expensive :/

Permalink

I would buy the Crusader Kings II tier only. Everything else I'm not interested in or already have. I don't get why pillars is in it again too.

Permalink

Okay, decent bundle is decent IMHO. I don't have some of the games, so I got Tier 2.

Permalink

not sure if BTA is worth it for Hearts of Iron and Europa Universalis, the T1 only don't own the dlcs of Majesty 2, have Stellaris already... so I might think about it, but prolly not buying.

dat tier 2. would grab it just for ck2 but not sure if the only vanilla version is worth. will think about it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

the vanilla version is totally worth it. CK2 is not nerfed, the game is great without the DLCs. The DLCs just add more story. While no DLC is must-have, Old Gods is one that comes close because of the much earlier start date.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

thanks, will definitely buy if i cant manage to leech it from here.

iirc the dlc pack is at 10 during sales. would it be worth?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yes... but play the vanilla game first to see if you like it
The DLC pack adds enough extra to justify the cost, and then you can see the difference it makes. Which'll help decide about DLC not in the pack personally, I want The Black Plague DLC, but it hasn't been cheap enough yet

will do, thanks

no, you dont need DLCs only if you revert game to older version. Later patches what came with DLCs balanced so that without DLC you get a buggy, unbalanced crap and the balance comes with owning DLC. Literally p2w DLCs. Unless you want ck2 to play together in multiplayer with a friend who owns all DLCs because you get the DLCs what the host have in MP so you will have access all DLC features if host has all DLC.

Man you have no idea the lengths paradox will go to to sell some dlc. It's become especially bad since they became a public traded company on the stock market a year or two ago. They mostly take their marching orders from share holders now so their going the way of EA.

BTA $6.52... I own 2/4 in BTA already...
But CK2 is tempting, even without all the DLCs.
Hmm.

Erf, what a bunch of greedy fools. So they couldn't add the many Paradox Interactive games that have never been bundle, or previous titles in the franchises they're trying to promote that nobody gives a shit about because nobody has the previous titles?

CK2 and Pillars of Eternity are fantastic games, but I already own everything in the bundle. I really recommend CK2 and Pillars if you're into those sort of games. EUIII is fun but is more over my head than CK2, which is saying a lot.
