Well most the stuff I watch and read are girly and for kids but I'm not a monster
Book: Geek Girl I am still yet to read the last in the series cuz I got lazy but I loved the series so much that I even have 1 autographed. I'm also someone who has to reread and rewatch anything that gains a new part so I read those beginning ones so much!
Movie: Treasure Planet My favourite disney movie, its apparently based on Treasure Island but in space so like 2 in one, read that book then watch the movie
Show: No Good Nick Lots of shows to pick from but this one is definitely my favourite. Sadly only made it to 2 series

Treasure Planet looks strangely familiar, although I have no recollection of ever watching it
btw, any good visual novel you would recommend? It doesn't have to be on steam

Well my profile pretty much shows my favourites being grisaia, princess evangile, higurashi, corpse party. Those murder mysteries like danganronpa and zero escape. They aren't really unknown games, basically I like romance and gore XD
Only 2 I can think of not on steam are these playstation games. I've never played Heart no Kuni no Alice but I own pretty much all the manga so I feel like if I had access to the games I would love it. The one I have played is Princess Nightmare it can be accessed on pc but actually you don't get as much content, there's a full route that is cut from like the best boy so its sad

I love gore stuff too. Saya no Uta was what got me hooked on visual novel.
Thanks for the recommendation, I believe most of them were already on my wishlist xD

Book: 'Folk med ångest' by Fredrik Backman. I read the Norwegian translation of it. The english title of said book is Anxious People.
I was having a huge life crisis at the same time I was reading the book, and I kept crying because it really hit the nail on explaining feelings that I had struggled with. And then I laughed because it's not only a sad book, it's a hopeful and witty book as well, so while reading I was kind of having an inner therapy session with my self-consciousness.
Thanks to this thread I found out there's a Netflix adaption of the book too, can't recommend this since I haven't seen it; but if you don't like reading books then maybe it's a great way to experience it.
Series: Dead Like Me. Manages to blend tragedy with comedy nicely. Still sad about it being cancelled so quickly, and that all we got was a shitty movie.
Movie: ...hmm, this is a hard one, but there's this one movie that I think about every now and then, it's one of those movies you can't bear to watch more than once in your life because it's devastating. And that is Requiem for a Dream.

Book: Chaos Walking trilogy (I read them years before the movie was a thing, I didn't watch the movie yet).
Movie: I liked a lot of movies, and I can't choose one particular movie here, so I'll just pick the one I saw the most recently and enjoyed: Bullet Train
Show: Same thing for the movies, too many shows to recommend so I'll pick the most recent I saw and enjoyed: Sandman

Podcast from the town of Night Vale, where every conspiracy theory is true.
Night Vale have over 150 episodes, not to mention seven recorded live shows, three novels, and four script collections
title of three books below ☆⌒(ゝ。∂)
“WITH ITS UNCANNY BLEND OF THE MACABRE AND THE MUNDANE, THE NEWS OUT OF NIGHT VALE SOUNDS LIKE WHAT MIGHT OCCUR IF STEPHEN KING OR DAVID LYNCH WAS A GUEST PRODUCER AT YOUR LOCAL PUBLIC RADIO STATION.”

Book: Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. A somewhat short book, but it has a dense, thick atmosphere and rich world. A secret world, parallel to ours, a guy who "slipped through the cracks" and wants out of there, and a conspiracy that makes things more complicated. It's magical, like most things from Neil are.
Movie: It's Kind of a Funny Story. Coming of age movie, strong focus on mental health, and it's not an idealized "fairy-tale". It's relatable, characters make mistakes... it's one of my go-to relax movies.
Show: The Community. Chaotic-witty sitcom that repeatedly throws incredibly silly ideas at the viewer, then makes a complete story out of a single idea. Post-apocalyptic paintball-wastelands, KFC spaceships, it has all. (First 1-2 episodes do not reflect too well on the full show, the characters are not that one-dimensional messes as they imply)

My favourite books are the ones in the Malazan series by Steven Erikson, starting with Gardens of the Moon (although the later books are better)
There are over 30 books in total including a load of spin-offs and prequels (some by different authors) most of which I haven't read – I've been meaning to get back to them for years...

I'll go just with a classic book with tons of humor: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Only 1? Aww, alright^^
Book: Ready Player One
Movie: Sakasama No Patema, AMV
Show: Peaky Blinders, ?MV
Anime: Jujutsu Kaisen, AMV
Upcoming: Bleach, old Bleach, new trailer
I know I know.. I maybe cheated with adding a few categories, but I couldn't help it, sorry.
I really loved the book! It was a big surprise for me to find out that they decided to make a movie a few years later and let me tell you.. name of the movie & character names are the only similar things. I was pretty disappointed watching the movie, so many things that didn't make sense or were rushed, but since movies should fit under 2 hour mark, so thats probably why. Many people who saw the movie also didn't read the book so thats why it has relatively good reviews too.
It's a few years since I saw the movie and I still keep coming back to it even if it has some plot holes. Interesting idea still^^
Show is one big rollercoaster, I still have a few episodes left to watch but from those I saw I can tell it has a really good story and characters.
I could recommend a lot of animes depending on which style is someone into, but I chose Jujutsu Kaisen since I think that everyone would enjoy it. Many fun different characters, catchy story which isn't too lengthy or too quick, beautifully drawn.. I loved it.
And yeah, long awaited Bleach :D I have nothing else to add to this title, it speaks for itself. (Just 5 days to go!!)

Book: A Song of Ice and Fire - when I first read it, it blew my mind how could wanton killing be allowed and be so devastated, my favorite book series still until today (if only he finishes it...)
Movie: Guardians of the Galaxy - equal parts seriousness and humour coupled with an amazing soundtrack and lovable characters, I enjoyed the game about it too and look forward to their next installment
Show: Arcane - even if you aren't a fan of League of Legends, you'd learn to love the characters and in a way even have a better experience not knowing the fate of said characters already in the game.
Yeah I only watch what is popular and then rarely so my recommendations all kinda suck... xD

Book: Koning van Katoren (it's Dutch)
Movie: Sliding Doors

Ps.
Book: well, I suck at reading so that is a hard one, but remember a decent book when I was a kid so will just go with that.
Movie: there are so many great ones!
Show: same as movie!

Hard to recommend something not knowing much about your taste, but based on your own recommendation, here's some of my favorite romance films (I tried to pick the ones that are pretty different from others for more variety):
Fa yeung nin wah aka In the Mood for Love
Portrait of Jennie
Days of Heaven
It Happened One Night

Over the past few years I've been checking out the classic American novels that I never had a chance to read as well as all the required reading books that I didn’t care for or appreciate back when I was in school. I know most people have read it already, but Catch-22 quickly became one of my favourite novels of all time and I can't recommend it enough!
As for the movies and shows, I usually end up watching (or using as a background noise) whatever flavour of the month new release there is so I can't really make a great recommendation, but I did enjoy watching The Boys.

No more copy pasta.
Hello and welcome to the madness!
The challenge is simple: Recommend 1 Book/Movie/Show that you enjoyed.
To clarify, you only need to make one recommendation in any category
The prize: Slime Rancher 2
Length and age do not matter. So long as you recommend something, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and pick something popular or go crazy and recommend something super obscure. So long as you genuinely enjoyed it, it is all good.
Just post a comment with your recommendation and you are good to go. Feel free to share your thoughts on why you made the recommendation, but it is not required.
FAQ:
Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I'm not going to be here for the second half of the month and I didn't want to stop the count with an awkward pause.
I've only watched the first 5 minutes/read the first page and thought it was the best thing ever, can I pick it for the event?
I guess. Not sure why you would, but you do you.
Can I pick something that's not in English?
Of course. The world is a big place and I'm sure there are subtitles/translations. If not, share anyways.
Why only 1 recommendation?
My book backlog is almost as bad as my steam one and I'm no better with shows/films. I want to at least convincingly lie to myself that I'll be able to make a good effort with the recommendations made here.
Wait, if you're not here to give us the link, how can I join?
You can find the link here.
If we can just join, what is the point of making a recommendation?
Only a monster would do that. And you're not a monster right? Don't break my heart D:
This event "ends" on November 1st when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to make a recommendation in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I can guarantee that you'll be able to join the giveaway in time.
Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and know that I won't be checking my emails.
