Do you?
our existence is kind of unlikely, so we might very well be the only ones in the universe. but we can't know for sure, and there might be some cool aliens out there, playing games on alien-steam, drinking alien-beer and eating unhealthy food at McAliens.

Do I believe in the little green/gray people? No, not really. Do I think and hope that we're not alone in the universe? YES. The Universe is so immensely big, it was be incredibly disappointing and sad to be the single inhabitants of the whole.

Believe? No. I can only believe in things that are proven to be true.
Suspect that they are very likely to exist out there, somewhere? Yes.
So I voted no. I suspect alien life exists, but I do not "believe" that it exists.
So I guess most people here tend to believe in stuff without any proof.

The immeasurable size of the universe + probability, make that a 100%:
I'd bet my ass on it, there are non human life forms out there, advanced ones too.
Quite astonishing what science has managed to grasp of the universe (yet) and if that current theory is correct (universe is expanding)
its less and less likely, for different life forms to ever "collide" < that + disregarding, everything we know as time/science/"existence",
it is not even funny how less we know in the grand total of "everything" were trying to grasp.
(Doesn't mean alien life forms have never been on earth, but they are either watching us like humans view
an ants nest and maybe poke it without real interest, or we cant even tell them apart from ourselves - unlikely
anyway, since there no need, to be a ant to "understand" ants. If it were any different, we'd probably know about it publicly.)
^ Only proof for that are pilots of all kind of aircrafts - people who have absofuckalutley nothing to gain from these sightings.
But loss of their job (license)/credibility/status and whatnot, those reporting in shock WTF they've just seen (alien air-carfts).
While for alien being "reports" ... i personally wouldn't know of any credible source, i'd even consider somewhat believable.

The existence of life-forms out of our solar system is an objectively measurable claim, and an incredibly bold one at that. Do you have any evidence confirming it?
Comment has been collapsed.
Universe "Diameter": Possibly infinite; at least 91 billion light-years (28×109 pc)
So you'd ask for proof in something that is not only immeasurable with our "relatively"
primitive technology (yet - or ever), but also probably infinite ...
^ While i could ask you - do you have any proof that there is no life form
other than on earth "out there", in the "infinity or not" of the universe?
I'd say i can't prove it, but neither could you, that there isn't. Other than that, if what we know, regarding the universe is correct
(and we must base our assumptions on something [ "SIZE"] until someone has a better theory), the chances for my bold claim
to be proven true, are infinitely or at least 91 billion light-years more probable, than the claim there couldn't be (which is in my view unimaginable). In addition to that, the counter arguments can't even be taken seriously ... (probability + "size")
tl;dr - you can't prove yours, i can't prove mine - yet my claim is "way more"
probable or maybe even infinitely more probable to be true
Comment has been collapsed.
In other words, you don't have proof or any evidence whatsoever.
While i could ask you - do you have any proof that there is no life form other than on earth "out there", in the "infinity or not" of the universe?
I don't have to answer that because the burden of proof is on you, nor could I since you're asking me to prove a negative. You made the positive claim and the onus is on you to prove its veracity. That doesn't mean you're right; if anything, your lack of evidence implies you're making a claim you cannot prove. Absence of evidence may not imply evidence of absence, but I'm sure not going to believe something without evidence.
tl;dr - you can't prove yours, i can't prove mine - yet my claim is "way more" probable or maybe even infinitely more probable to be true
Your "logic" (or lack thereof) is effectively that your claim is more likely to be true because the Universe is huge. I suppose I'll have to use a rather cliché rebuttal to refute this, then. If I claimed that somewhere in the Universe, there is a china teapot orbiting a distant planet, and within this teapot lives an invisible pink unicorn, but both are too small for even the most powerful of telescopes to detect, does it exist simply because I claim that it does and because the Universe is immense? Rather, is it more likely to exist because I claimed that it might, perhaps even infinitely so proportionate to the infinity of the Universe?
No, because I cannot speak things into exist. And neither can you. Without evidence, your claims mean nothing. They aren't "'way more' probable or maybe even infinitely more probable to be true" just because the Universe is immense. That's not how science works. That's not how logic works. That's not how reason works. Your claim is therefore unscientific, illogical, and unreasonable.
Let me know when you have evidence, not just empty and unfalsifiable claims.

Do i look like a scientist having made assumptions and a hypothesis into a theory that requires impossible scientific proof?
My statement still stands and can't be proven by science yet i'd believe it to be true - the one "scientifically estimated size" is
enough for that - since nothing depends on it, nor am i obliged to explain, as much as you are free to disregard it as a false claim.
But, if you believe that you will ever witness that "evidence" and not just "empty and unfalsifiable claims"
mixed with scientifically estimated numbers regarding this matter - you're an even greater but
more optimistic & scientific fool than i am.

So it's not that your claim is true, only that you want it to be true and believe it to be true. Why, then, are you claiming claims for which you can neither prove nor provide a single shred of evidence? All I'm seeing is disjointed, incoherent rambling and feeble attempts at weaving unrelated points into some meaningful whole—also known as bullshitting.
In the future, don't claim that an objectively measurable and verifiable phenomenon is "100%" true without a single shred of evidence to confirm it. Doing so just makes you look dishonest.

All I'm getting is you enjoy these bullshit discussions to the fullest - trying to convince everyone with your argument known as skepticism: "heyo kids did you know about our great lord science - I'm tell you how you're scientifically wrong in a on this siris thread for siris discussions"
"Oh look there, that guy said a "100% yes" AND he bets his ass on it - if that shit ain't non-scientific, i don't know what is -
yeeeehaw - sfx i'mma jump this bullshit and ride it out fer goood".

Hope this clarifies my standing point - if i were interested in any reliable information i wouldn't care much for it
from another steamgifts-user who soaked it up somewhere else.

More like I'm trying to keep people honest with themselves and ensuring that individuals like you don't spread misinformation based on faulty reasoning and incoherent arguments. This isn't even a skeptical argument, mind you, but simply asking for evidence. It's a matter of verifiability and you failed to verify your claims.
If you don't like being called out on your bullshit, then don't peddle it. Simple as that.

Its more like you're trying to win an argument where there was none, over something that can't be won, other than
in rhetorical methods. For all i care, google: "alien life probable - universe probability ... " and enjoy your rain of bullshit,
i sure never read up on this specifically - but i guess this might strengthen ones believes.
I'm trying keep people honest with themselves and ensuring that individuals like you don't spread misinformation based on faulty reasoning and incoherent arguments.
^ this btw. made me laugh (a little) - because you sure managed that:
if i were interested in any reliable information i wouldn't care much for it
from another steamgifts-user who soaked it up somewhere else.

I have no interest in "winning" anything. I'm not one to be eristic. You made a bold claim and I wanted to see if you had any evidence to support it. Of course you didn't. That's why you shouldn't make such absurd, wildly exaggerated claims and pass them off as true.
Feel free to take the last word. I've made my point; claim victory if you want or tell me how foolish I am. I honestly don't care.

I'm not one to be eristic.
Ok, then I'm still bewildered, how anyone, would be willing to engage on this claim, other
than wanting/believing it to be true, (while nothing is gained or lost but a nice thought*).
While the thought of being, in a universe that might be as estimated as infinite or just "huge"
and were the only intelligent beings on this planet among an uncountable number of planets
is not only not enticing but weirdly unsettling ...
I still don't think any part of my claim is absurd, exaggerated while unprovable yes, unscientific yes
yet considering the lack of information given i do not require evidence for it (how could i).
^ But you might have a point with: ²
ensuring that individuals like you don't spread misinformation based on faulty reasoning and incoherent arguments.
Since the (young) people around here might take it for serious to
some point, which i can't imagine to be of relevance.

Feel free to reply or not to ... i don't consider the "last post wins", but
the best argument - and yours are solid, but "leading where to².?

Considering the space may be infinite I think it's highly likely that there are many different life forms out there. But I don't really concern myself with that, I'll be long dead before humans get in touch with aliens if they ever do.
And what did I do to get on your blacklist (asking mostly out of curiosity)?
Comment has been collapsed.
I believe they are real, but I don't think they've visited earth or our solar system. At the least, the chance is slim. Unless they had some wormhole or were of another dimension, I don't think they'd be able to travel here, and even if they could, why? If there is alien life out there, then humans aren't the most special zebra. How on earth would they manage light speed travel too?

It's possible whoever created our simulation also created other "intelligent" species on other planets.

I have no reason to believe that intelligent extraterrestrial life exists. There is no scientific evidence for life outside our solar system and there are no means of predicting the chances of intelligent extraterrestrial life. I would not be surprised if such life exists, but I rely on evidence, not faith, so I won't assume they exist at all. As far as I'm concerned, it's equally as likely that our solar system is the only (or first) instance of intelligent life in the Universe as it is that intelligent life is proliferate or abundant in the Universe.

As an alien I'm offended by your post, why would you want to kill us?
BTW, I don't believe in you people.

Sometimes, I don't believe in people, too :( Maybe I'm alien, and should be offended by my own post, too?
Anyway, sorry about that, in our movies and games, aliens most of times are "bad guys". They're trying to capture our planet or our people for some weird shit. So we just scared...

As the title asks... Do you believe in aliens? Do you believe there's something else out there or are we alone in the universe?
