Soooo, I decided that I was going to jump in here and make my first dungeon as part of my next SG event. But I will admit to being frustrated now and confused as to where to even begin. I can't get through the tutorial nor skip it.
Here's what happens:
1) I go to create a new dungeon
2) It asks if I want to do the tutorial - I say "yes"
3) It gives me some basic info, and I click the green check mark
4) It asks me to understand the mini-map. It says click on the map button and then close the mini-map to continue
5) I click on the map button, the mini-map comes up - but I don't see a close button. So I click on the map itself. It closes.
6) The tutorial dialog is now missing, and the original "would you like to go through the tutorial?" dialog is back
7) I rinse and repeat this process a few times, then give up
8) This time, I say "no" to the tutorial. I'll figure this thing out myself.
9) I turn on creator tools. The tutorial prompt comes up again.
10) I say "no" and click another button...and the tutorial prompt comes up again.
11) EVERY FREAKING BUTTON I PUSH BRINGS UP THE TUTORIAL PROMPT! [Seriously, where is Ashton Kutcher? He's surely taking video of me yelling at my monitor :D]
12) I give up and come here to post and vent my frustration 😣😜
So, it seems that I can't continue until I do the tutorial, because literally everything prompts me to do the tutorial. But, I can't finish the tutorial, because once I open the map and close it, it takes me back to the tutorial prompt. Jesus wept.
Am I missing something obvious? It seems to me that this can't be intended functionality and that this is some sort of bug.
BTW, I'm using Chrome, latest update, on 64-bit Win10 Pro. My ad-blocker is turned off for the Dungeon Sandbox site.
Help! Thanks.

OMG! I'm so sorry for the trouble you went through 😨 Thanks so much for letting me know about the issue!
There indeed was a problem with new dungeons which is now fixed - you can now go through the tutorial or skip it at your will.
Hope you will have fun creating a dungeon! And feel free to report any issues - it is much appreciated.

Lol, no worries, thanks for fixing it. I was 99% sure that I'd just hit a bug that no one else was seeing because they're all active users that have already passed the tutorial. :)
I'll give it a spin later today and let you know how it goes.
Cheers!

Hey, I wanted to give you an update on how things are going...I'm successfully building a pretty good-sized dungeon. Had to read the wiki a few times to straighten out things like music (tried dropbox and Goog drive before I read the wiki...then signed up for kiwi6 😎), etc., but overall it's working great. Being a former dev (and now just a super-annoying user :D), I have a few suggestions for improvements. I'll share those later on the page you linked to above.
Really cool tool, though -- seriously! I think that some minor usability tweaks can take this thing over the top. 👍🏻🤘🏻🤓

No worries, glad to give input. I still need to spend more time later with some of the more advanced functions, but I'm managing to put together an appropriately bothersome dungeon for a first try. No plot or anything this time, but I may attempt to craft something with some minor story or the like in the future and try to take more advantage of some of the transfer capabilities, etc. Of course, that will probably also result in a bunch more suggestions. 😁😅🤓

Definitely, and I wouldn't expect you to be able to implement them all...some of them may have a higher complexity level of implementation than they're worth. But I think things like making the map available all of the time (so I don't have to turn on/off edit mode), having better nav around the map, etc., will make things a lot better right there.
Oh, and I'll add this later, but I definitely would love a copy/paste function to repeat objects in the dungeon. That would be awesome and save tons of time. :)

FYI...the Dungeon Sandbox appears to be down right now. I've had it crash on me twice today while constructing my new dungeon (getting close to something workable for my first dungeon-based event, BTW :) ).
All I'm getting when I reloaded the page (or open a new tab and try to load there) is a dungeon graphic. No logo, buttons, links, etc.

Ah, yes :( That's an issue that's been happening from time to time recently, most likely due to insufficient server resources (I had to cut them a bit as it got a little expensive to maintain) or some configuration flaws. I'll devote some time this weekend to resolving this problem.

Ah, makes sense. I know - hosting fees can get expensive if you're chewing through a lot of CPU or bandwidth. At least cloud storage remains pretty cheap.

Also how in the world were you not already on my whitelist? Crap. Well, it's fixed now. 😀💙

hrm....
It seems your OP needs some adjustment so as to fit within SteamGifts Guidelines as it has evolved into an advertisement for your project, a project which actively seeks both Net traffic and money.
First, there's the matter of sub-forum choice. Dungeon Sandbox is an application, not a puzzle, so it would normally go in the "Other" sub-forum. The problem with putting it there is that you would have to remove all forms of advertisement from your OP. In other words, you can't steer people to your site using ours.
Here are a couple of suggestions about how you might rework your posting.
As far as I know, the Discord link is fine, and the YouTube video also seems to be OK as it does not appear to be monetized or part of a regular channel.

I'm confused...and I'm seriously just asking for clarification here, but how is this post seeking money? To the best of my knowledge, this is just a sandbox that anyone can use (for free) to create an original format for their GAs on Steamgifts.
It'd be one thing if he was posting a link to his Paypal account and asking for five bucks to support the project, but I don't see anything of the kind here. Like I said, just askin'. I'm just not seeing any attempt to monetize the project in this thread.
I agree that the thread should probably be moved to "other." :)

The problem with his post is that it seeks to steer traffic to his site. The problem with linking to his site is that he is/was seeking donations (via Patreon) and user activity. That is why my suggestions involve removing redirects to his site, thereby avoiding both problems.
It is natural to want to advertise one's product. However, that is not the purpose of SteamGifts. There are only two exceptions made for advertising, and those are inside of giveaway descriptions and in the Recruitment sub-forum (where people can advertise their Steam groups).

Ah, ok, thanks for the clarification. I understand a bit better now. Although, the primary point of the site/product is a tool to be used to build things for Steamgifts, which seems like something we'd want to draw attention to IMO. Perhaps if he moved his Patreon requests entirely to the site's blog or forums? That way, he can still point people to the tool for creative SG giveaway purposes without there being a direct link to any monetary requests. The challenge here is that, since the tool is completely online (so there's nothing to download), he can't very well provide it for people to use without pointing them to his site.

That seems like a reasonable enough dodge. "I am providing a tool and just happen to have a payment method hidden in another part of my site" sounds a lot less commercial than "I am providing a tool and here is how you pay me for it. Spread the word."

Lol, I like your thinkin'. 😁
If I seem really invested here, it's because I just personally started learning how to use the Dungeon Sandbox and I can see how much work that SErVER put in to this thing. I think that it's a great way to create some interesting SG events...in fact, while I'm just scratching the surface of what the thing can do, I have an event all designed and built that will launch tomorrow evening (US CDT) based upon my first dungeon.
What I've done is pretty simple stuff, but I've walked through it to test it like a participant, and it will take some serious time investment to get through it (and especially if the player wants to get to the higher-quality GAs). Anyway, I think that it will be a fun event (especially since there really aren't many going on right now...kinda typical as everyone takes a break after all of the holiday events), and it's all based upon the hard work that went into creating this engine, specifically with SG in mind. 😎
Anyway, I just thought you'd find that perspective interesting. Thanks for the clarification on where things were funky with the site rules. It sounds like moving the thread and making a couple of minor modifications will get things in compliance.

That is the hope, anyway. We are still waiting on SErVER51 to respond/take action.

Well, my christmas calendar leaded to a different side and even used the dungeon sandbox.
I did not add any patreon or ads on the page but it was def. a link "to steer traffic to my site" (because without nobody could have entred the GAs).
So with this rule my calendar should also not be linked in the forum?

Hi Khalaq! I believe you got a false first impression and misunderstood the purpose of this project. Let me explain why:
It was made specifically for SG as an "unusual" way to give back to this community. People are having lots of fun with it and so do I - it makes everyone happy and adds an extra level of uniqueness to SG, expanding the possibilities of sharing giveaways in creative ways: isn't it amazing that people make more great, and most importantly - creative - events on this forum? I am personally very happy to allow people to take more creative approaches to sharing their giveaways - that is the goal I've been trying to achieve.
It is a non-profit, completely free, project which has been on this forum since October 2015 (and I am very surprised it got this kind of attention now after all this time and not when it was started): I do not and never have profited from my Steam Dungeons projects (Dungeon Sandbox and Shadow Dungeons both shared on this forum and having the same goal) - I did use to run a Patreon campaign during the period when the maintenance costs were too heavy for me and all the money went into that. Overall, I had to spend much much more money on my projects than I ever got from the supporters - that not to mention countless hours spent during these 3.5 years basically for expanding the ways of sharing giveaways on SG.
The Patreon was cancelled some time ago, and even though the maintenance costs are still pretty high, I do not ask anyone to support me financially anymore - there are no mentions of neither Patreon, nor any other donations on Dungeon Sandbox website. If you follow the link to the Patreon page mentioned in the video, you can see that it no longer exists.
Thus, I state that I do not seek to make money with my projects aimed at SG, that is not my intention, - once again, they are my gift and token of appreciation to this community, and I would be happy to see it accepted.
As for links to the website, it is not possible to remove them as that would basically mean destroying the project: Dungeon Sandbox is completely online-based - there is no application to download to a PC or mobile device, so in order to use it, one has to visit the website.
I moved the topic to the "General" section (I found no "Other" section to move it to) and hope for your understanding that the project is being made purely for the sake of SG.

Very well. As long as you continue to seek neither remuneration nor a userbase, there should be no problem. In the meantime, I moved it to "Off-Topic" for you.

Hi guys!
If any of you have explored any of the dungeons of Dungeon Sandbox, you might wanna take part in the Discord event which I'm holding right now in celebration of the upcoming big update of the project. Guess the dungeon and get a chance to win Dark Souls 3 :)

Looks amazing! You have done great work! :)
I checked the video for now, but have to soon visit it on my own. ;D
And I love how you can adjust the image size easily now, it always gave me trouble. XD Oh and that sweet uploading, no more of disappearing images. ;D
Great job! <3

Hey guys! I'd like to present a special project which I created for this wonderful community of Steamgifts - Steam Dungeons 3D.
Steam Dungeons 3D is a successor of my previous project - Puzzle Dungeons - which brings dungeon creation to a new level.
It is a project which I created specifically for Steamgifts community which allows anyone to create dungeons in a 3D environment, fully customize them, fill them with different events and objects, hide SteamGifts giveaways and share such creations with SG community by simply providing a link to the dungeon. All in a simple, intuitive way without a need to download any applications.
It is a creative alternative to current unusual ways of giveaway sharing like itstoohard or jigidi.
Check out the tutorial video to see how a dungeon is created (new version)
Check out the introduction video (first version)
Creating your own dungeon is simple and is done through the game itself - the project has its own Wiki page with useful information.
A little history
Steam Dungeons 3D (ex Dungeon Sandbox) is a part of my Steam Dungeons series. Many of you might already be familiar Steam Dungeons: it was first created in October of 2015 under Game of sWords name (and later Shadow Dungeons) and there have been multiple quest events where people could enter a dungeon and search for steamgifts giveaways while playing a role-playing game. People could share and find giveaways in such quests, but couldn't create create their own dungeons.
Here are some of the topics of previous quest events: Quest for Dungeon Heart #2 | Quest for Dungeon Heart #1 | Game of sWords 3.0
Dungeon creation feature was first introduced in Puzzle Dungeons which allowed to create own dungeons and fill them with giveaways. However, dungeon customization was very limited compared to the current Steam Dungeons 3D project and it wasn't too easy to create dungeons there as one needed to download a special Editor application and study a guide which explained how to create a dungeon with it which prevented it from being widely used among the community.
With introduction of Dungeon Sandbox (now Steam Dungeons 3D), which can be fairly called a successor of Puzzle Dungeons, Steam Dungeons became a series of projects consisting of Dungeon Sandbox (now Steam Dungeons 3D) ("casual" part where everyone can create and share a dungeon with a simple-to-study tools) and Shadow Dungeons (now Steam Dungeons RPG) ("hardcore" part, an RPG game where people can't create their own dungeons, but can share and find giveaways and complete exciting quests).
Steam Dungeons RPG currently has a big update in development, so Steam Dungeons 3D is the main active part of Steam Dungeons at the moment.
This is a Steam Dungeons website where you can read about both projects of the series
Browser compatibility
Feel free to use Steam Dungeons 3D to create unusual and exciting events here on SG :)
