So, I decided it was time to clean out a few more lists and make a new train. I've finally leveled up a little bit to where I can create a decent-sized choo-choo (I think this is around 38 games). It starts out with some trash, but it gets better, I promise. :D

So, for anyone reading this that is at least level 2, hop on board and take a ride!

My third and biggest train so far

Please bump when you're done (well, at least if you had fun at all). :)

P.S. I used joonatoona's excellent train script to build this train! I might like to build in a couple of enhancements, but this worked really well (and saved me a ton of time listing URLs in a spreadsheet to manually create links), so thanks!

What is the best Led Zeppelin album?

View Results
IV - Stairway to Heaven and When the Levee breaks. Duh.
Physical Graffiti - OMG, the most epic album they ever did, hands-down. Kashmir...need I say more?
II - Those early, raw days where there was still a focus on heavy blues-rock (and trippy lyrics) were the best.
Houses of the Holy - Man, this is when they had finally really refined their sound and gotten the production right. Catchiest tunes ever (like Fool In The Rain) were from this era.
Other - write in and explain (or rant, I don't care :D)
I don't know anything about Led Zeppelin. I have no soul. I deserve to be locked in a portable toilet and kicked down a hill.

We can fix that. The place I started when I wanted to learn about Led Zeppelin was Led Zep II. Pretty accessible, but you can hear how much they're going to change over the following years. Then, Led Zep IV is a no-brainer because it has Stairway to Heaven on it (considered by many to be the greatest rock song of all time...it's in my top 5 for sure [but I'm a little partial to Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas for my top spot]). Once I listened to Physical Graffiti... >-POOF-< MIND BLOWN. :D

Oh Carry On Wayward Son is one of my favorites song too, anyway, I casually listen Led Zeppelin sometimes, but I don't consider myself a fan tbh

Choosing between Led Zeppelin's albums is like asking a parent to pick their favourite child. I did vote for Houses Of The Holy though :)
And the extra cheer goes for having a Jimi Hendrix avatar!

Ha! Nice gif.

Yeah, I know this is a tough choice. That's why I posted it. ;)

Debate is good for encouraging exploration.

BTW, your choice is my older brother's favorite LZ album.

If such question will make younguns of this site to search and listen to the band, that would, indeed, be a great encouragement. However, being a grumpy old fart, I feel like not many people here heard much of LedZep beyond "Stairway to Heaven", if at all.
A more interesting question, if perhaps for a different audience, would be to pick a favourite live album and/or bootleg. My choice here, and a much easier one than the picking of an album, would be Live at the Royal Albert Hall, 1970.

Yeah, spoiler alert...PG is my favorite LZ album too. But I'm finding the spread in the poll interesting. I never met a LZ album that I didn't at least like, so it's cool to see which ones qualify as people's favorites.

That's a really tough question... I love I, II, IV and Houses of the Holy, but I guess that if I really had to choose one, then maybe...... IV? Let's go with IV before I start thinking too much about it. I can definitely tell you that my all time favourite Zeppelin song is Achilles' Last Stand though ^^

Have a mighty bump :)

Well yeah ... good poll, but I'll have to go with Led Zeppelin I.
I almost choose Led Zeppelin IV, since, by that time, they had become pretty good writers/composers, but first and foremost they were great performers and so they performed the SHIT out of those songs, especially Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You and Dazed and Confused.
It doesn't matter where they took them from. They made them sound soooo good.

Definitely agree on their delivery, and I've never understood why some people had an issue with them doing rock renditions of old blues songs. I think it's because most people don't know jack about the blues...blues artists cover each others' songs all of the time. It's considered a tribute, not theft. In fact, many blues artists' biggest hits were covers of their contemporaries' songs. Led Zeppelin never hid its influences for one second...in fact, they wore them on their sleeve, and I believe it's one of their greatest strengths. They took what they loved and evolved it into something that had never been heard before, and that's what makes them one of the greatest bands of all time.

Glad to hear the love for LZ1...I just got the recently remastered edition, and it's phenomenal. Maybe I should have had that one in the poll...guess I just didn't want it to get too long. I'm glad you chose "other" and spoke up for that first album. :)

edit: also, WL achieved. :)
