I have not seen a single person recommend Psycho Pass. Now that's an awesome Anime, it just finished airing. Think "Minority Report" but actually good, haha.

I have to second some recommendations of Steins;Gate and Ghost in the Shell. Also although a little childish, still amusing, Gosick.

Kind of hijacking this thread here but I am fairly new to anime tv. Can someone recommend me an anime series that is not even close to any other anime series. I mean like, with tons of new ideas and creativity like My Neighbour Totoro. Also, I want the animation (graphics or what have you) to be different from regular anime cartoons if that is at all possible (I just don't like the look of most animes). Thanks!

TV series:
-Hajime no Ippo(great sports shounen and great comedy)
-Cross Game(really good sports anime)
-Slam Dunk(my #1 of all time, great characters, outstanding animation - it was made in 1993, great music, just perfect for me)
-Prince of Tennis(there were some boring parts near the end, but it's still pretty good, OVA is great)
-One Outs(pretty much Death Note - battle of wits with baseball)
-Major(that's some long sports anime list, I know, but all of them are worth watching)
-FMA Brotherhood (if you meant the old one as your top of list, and haven't seen this one yet)
-Hunter x Hunter(new one = best shounen anime airing now, in my opinion)
-Yuu Yuu Hakusho(same author as above, great shounen too)
-Kaiji(high probability you'll like it if you like DN)
-Akagi(same here, but it's good to learn the basics of mahjong for it, not necessary though)
-Katanagatari(really stylish, great story and music)
-Steins;Gate(time travels, yay)
-Mushishi(better not watch this late at night, might be a bit too relaxing)

-Cromartie High School(probably best comedy anime I've watched)

-Baccano!(really loved the characters and storytelling)

About D.grayman, it only good at the first 12-24 ep, it get worse later, So i say, "pass it"

I'd say Cowboy Bebop. Its exceptional, and I don't even really care for most anime. Well written, solid voicework, and beautiful music.

d-gray is a very good anime go for it

Kuroshitsuji is a mixture of action/funny and it's really cool.

Ergo proxy.

Soul eater is absolutely fantastic,crazy and full of action,you'll fall in love.

ghost in the shell(STAND ALONE COMPLEX) is really great.you'll watch it and want more.

Clannad is absolutely beautiful.Really there are no other words.

Also i don't know if you enjoy romance,but being a girl i REALLY loved zero no tsukaima and lovely complex.
These were the ones i enjoyed the most.
