Who's gonna win?

FREE TO PLAY GAMES IS GONNA WIN FOR SURE
PAID GAMES IS GONNA CRUSH FREE TO PLAY GAMES

Neither. I resent the idea that both your choices lead to the same old saw about video games being for kids (and the implication that kids are thieves and spammers when those types possibly represent 10-15% of a large and diverse group of individuals).

I also resent that potato, the superior choice in this incredibly biased poll, is not a suggestion.

Imagine a game that'd be that horribly expensive, that only adults could pay.

A community without kiddies.

Clearly the F2P model has a huge advantage agaisn't paid because, well, they're FREE! The problem here is how the F2P model is really applied. Most of the F2P aplies an P2W model(yes a model inside a model, deal with it). Besides some expections to be rules(DOTA2, TF2, Path of Exile, etc.) also all of them uses this model. Personally I'm fine with it AS long it doesn't compromise skill. If it does, it sucks.
Now the community is much more diverse. You have some poor nice guys(like me :P) and you have that 12 y/o(take note that behavior is what matter not age itself. What we have more in this world is 30 y/o jerks) that it gets all the attention of the crowd. Just like life...

The paid ones don't have much of P2W problem(unless EA and stuff) but you have DLCs, expansion pack and(or not) subcriptions. In here you have to be well informed what you are about to buy(unlike F2P where you play and quit if not like) or you are just wasting money. But the community will be fairly the same. But over time it will get better(the game gets old and jerks don't stick much to an old game) and if you really like the game, that is a good thing.

That all said it all depends of the game. But my wallet is the real boss in here so I'll have to go to the F2P.

You can't keep a backlog of F2P games.

I voted for paid games.

But there are some free to play games where you can actually play without any problem without the need of paying anything. World of Tanks and War Thunder for example, I don't know if something changed, but I didn't spend anything on those games and really enjoyed it. The grinding is slower, but it's not a problem.

I prefer paid games for the most part. From my experience, the "F2P" are loaded with bots/spammers/cheaters more than the paid games are. A lot of the "F2P" are also P2W or pay to get so far ahead, that casual free players just give up because they don't have the time to grind to compete on a fair level.

F2P only works with online multiplayer games.
Singleplayer or (the now almost extint) local multiplayer games need to be either fully free or paid games.
