Sorry it took so long, bad storm when I got home.
Ok. So a bunch of guesses and so far you only have the platform right.
So I'll give you two clues:
Clue 1: Millions of people around the world had this game. However many may never have known about it.
Clue 2: Whilst this is not a FPS title the objective of the game is quite literally the name of a mode many modern team-based FPSs have.
AND AHoopyFrood got it.
It was Hover! found on the Windows 95 disk
And if you want to check it out yourself you can at the link below (and under external links where the download link is you will also find a crappy updated web version).

That somehow reminds me of The Elder Scrolls: Arena

It's Hover! from the Windows 95 disk! I've played so much of that.

Bingo! Me too. It was, and still is, a great time-waster. (also it may just have the best compatibility of any game ever made since it still runs completely flawlessly without tweaks or workarounds.)
And anyone here can legally download it below (check external links) or play the crappy web version.

Thanks. Are those [HTML brackets or what does this site want between the square brackets?

Just a reminder for those who might not have seen it:
Should the 24-hour no reply rule be changed to 12 hours to speed up the pace of the game?

I think you meant to say one of the many clones of Breakout :P
It seems it is quite literally Arkanoid though. Google Arkanoid and it comes up in a screenshot from a youtube vid.

Yeah, it wasn't just "one of the many versions".
It was the original arcade version.

(Race Driver) G.R.I.D 2?
I have a feeling I should know this game and I'm going to kick myself later.

There is a marked difference between having played and having played sufficient missions to have experienced that :P
I hate eternal spawn games (Call of Duty campaigns for instance (at least the early ones)) so whilst I may have the game and a bunch of DLC I've barely played it at all

Okay I am posting a picture because MjrPITA passed turn
Enjoy name of the game genre is too easy you need to specify exact modification.
(EDIT: Yay finaly got a chance to play after camping this thread for month lol)
Comment has been collapsed.
and the modification? its like separate game you know :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Mods huh ? never played the game with any...
But I'm guessing it's either the Restoration Project, or Resurrection.
Comment has been collapsed.
The second one is correct its Fallout 1.5 Resurrection
Fully translated around month ago I've beaten it like a week ago
Great game for like over 20 hours of gameplay, your turn.

Mods are simply going too far in my opinion.
Next then you'll have to guess which shader mod (ENB) is applied.
Comment has been collapsed.
Arent RPG maker games mods then?
You just use existing things to make separate game and usualy stuff is looking the same.
There is diffrence between a simple modification and almost game like modification.
They should never be treated in the same way. Not if you are making something what wasnt existing before like cutscenes etc. This one could be easly named sequel to F1 or an DLC to F2. And you wouldnt bat an eye then.

Nehrim is still Oblivion and has the bugs, performance issues and havok jankyness to prove it (though it is more stable than Bathesda's pile of crap)
Haven't see many RPGMaker games in this thread :P Usually they still have some sort of artwork or theme which makes them distinguishable from one another (but hey, I hate them as much as you)
It doesn't matter if the changes are huge, what matters is that they are never official and have far less exposure than the official games they are often indistinguishable from (did you know of Nehrim?)
What's next? Project Spark games? If it's dependent on the base of another game it doesn't count.

Nah I never played the TES4 but I played others. Especially Morrowind a lot.
Maybe I see your point but it is still anoying that someone may call such a huge work made over the decade just a modification. And compare them to other mods done like in a month or soo. its kinda not fair. There should be a border catching really good programmers out from such projects made from head to foot as a diffrent story and diffrent product based on the same structure. And they should be recognised.
Perfect example is Portal Stories: Mel.

The unfortunate reality though is that they live on ModDB and no one outside of there knows them.
By the way Nehrim is the exact same. It's an entirely different game where only the inherent buggyness of the engine, bad havok physics and a few of the assets remain

This screenshot is from one of the best and most beautiful games ever made (in my opinion, of course).
HINTS:
EDIT: I've added new screenshots.
Comment has been collapsed.
That second screenshot just makes it all way more confusing because it's a completely different style to the first.....
The first seems to belong to some sort of RPG or RPG Lite...but then the 2nd doesn't belong to any genre and seemingly an entirely different game...and it certainly isn't beautiful...

Not for me haha. I clearly don't know it. Though it should definitely make it clearer for others.

Not for me either. All games that I can think off that would come close, I would count under "action RPG" -> so they're already ruled out by the hints

Looks like a turn-based RPG to me. That first pic is typical turn-based RPG set-dressing
