So it's a scripted thing... I should have known. Thanks for clearing that up!

Damn it costs money? There goes my plans to use it as a mass birthday party page inviter. Now how are Steam users gonna be aware its my birthday?

I can't imagine that Steam would condone this kind of behaviour. I'm going to file a report and make them aware of the issue when I can be bothered. (Just received another uninvited invite as we speak, lovely).

I was about to call you out on that but then I saw your profile.

I got at least 40 one day. It took me 30 minutes to decline them all.

I get invited to random groups all the time, and the majority of these invites are in foreign languages despite hte majority of Steam's users being English-speaking. Russians are very overrepresented, but not the only ones I get. I get a lot of invites from groups whose pages are written in Portugese too.

Because I've been receiving these for months now. The pattern is always the same: some random invites me to a group that I have nothing to do with, have no friends in, don't understand a word of what they're about, and it's always in Russian. This was the latest one. It's been ages since I last played a multiplayer game on a public server, so that can't be where they're coming from. Right now I'm more curious than annoyed, although that could change if it gets worse. Anyone else receiving mystery invites to Russian groups?
Update: Looks like these are scripted mass invites.
