Who's here love to see that tiny "Achievement Unlocked" box popping up on your screen and who thinks it's pointless?
Do you think Steam achievements are one of selling points for Steam games?

For me, availability of Steam achievements are one of my consideration when I want to buy some game on Steam, aside of multiplayer and steamworks stuff.

I'm also a serious "achievement whore". Loving when achievement pops up.

I quite like how they add more objective to the game, and how they are not just collected for an equivalent of a gamerscore

I like them :) But I'm not an achievement whore or w/e and I don't mind if the game doesn't have them.

Depends on the game, whether or not I really care. Getting the __ Boy achievements on Binding of Isaac, for instance, that's tough!

I used to go crazy over Xbox achievements back when I played consoles, but on Steam I really could care less.
I think the difference is Xbox had a 'gamerscore' system, and it counted up all of the 'achievement points' you have and put the number on your profile. I would try my hardest to get achievements for the sole reason that I am a competitive bastard, and I wanted to beat my friends.

As I'm reading about a game I like, I move further down to see if it has achievements. If it does, cool, I love it. If I like a game and it doesn't have them, I'm fine with that. I feel the achievements show me I've made some progress and gives me incentives to be better with experience. But I really do love the achievements :D

Steam achievments are allright, however i feel that Xbox/GFWL achievments are much more "rewarding" somehow.
