Which is the best?
I have the older Z2300 and they still kick ass.
Even the Z5500 still rule. So yeah, go for a Logitech model. :)

I recently bought Mackie CR4 for my PC (I used to have 5.1 system by Creative). Mackie's are good, but the active speaker emits some buzz, when in idle in a quiet room - I don't, if it is normal for (studio) monitor speakers, but it could be. Other than that, the speakers are worth every cent I spent (although you have to keep in mind that this is a 2.0 system without a subwoofer).

Emitting a buzz sounds like a closed loop. See: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erdschleife (use translator)

Personally i'd suggest to get a decent used amp (technics?) and attach some decent boxes to it. (amp may already come with such). IMHO the quality gain should be noticable. Was using a 50€ 5.1 "el-cheapo" setup.. Sharkoon Audics 5.1. Now using an AIWA NSX-D6 amp with decent 3-way boxes (2.0 setup). The difference is about night & day. Wouldn't even think about going back to computer speakers.

Just glimpsed over google results. Reviewers citing "superior" quality over computer speakers. Looking at the price point of 350$ I pretty assume its top of the crop. Approved :)
Just a reminder - the further you push speakers the further you need to push your audio card too. Looking at... unshielded onboard audio circuits *_x
As for computer only speakers i'd expect them to be USB driven / SPDIF-powered to alleviate this. (Obviously USB powered means the presence of own drivers - which eigther could turn out costly or mediocre sounding)
(i still do believe however that getting decent box'es + amp from a second hand a/v shop would be the cheaper and possibly a more hifi alternative to this - also more flexible in case you want to intermix more equipment into this)

If you have that much money to spend, I would recommend a pair of KRK Rokit RP5 or RP6. ;)
They are monitor speakers, used in studios worldwide. Flat and delicious sound (once you go flat you never go back), but can be equalized by software if you want more bass or something like that.

How about KRK RP6G3-NA Rokit 6 Generation 3?? I've heard they are pretty good. Still wanting a good speaker system myself, think i'll be going for a 2.0 system when i do workout what to get

Personally i have
Yamaha RX-V479BL(Receiver)
Yamaha NS-P60BL(Front and center speakers)
Yamaha YST-SW012BL(Subwoofer)
While playing FPS game i use Roccat Kave 5.1 headset while using a t.bone MB85 Beta microphone with a Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 audio interface.

Personally I like http://www.klipsch.com/promedia-2-1-computer-speakers but thanks for the train and the review!

I've read some discussions about speakers; they agreed, that for a PC 5.1/7.1 is useless (the sound quality is not good enough for the distance you usually use them); 2.1 is very expensive if you want a really good one, so your best choice is a 2.0 system. The best of the cheapest speakers is the Genius 1250B/1255B; if you can pay a biz more, buy a Kürbis :)
edit. okay, here is their recommended list.
Genius SP-HF1250B or SP-HF1255B
Creative GigaWorks T20 Series II (if the Genius speakers are too big for you)
Modecom MC-SHF56, MC-SHF80U and MC-SHF120U
Thonet & Vander Vertag and Kürbis
Edifier R1600T and R1900T II / III
Microlab Solo 6C
and the more expensive ones:
M-Audio BX5 D2
Prodipe Pro 5 V2 (studio monitor)
Presonus Eris E5
Tannoy Reveal 502
JBL LSR305 (studio monitor)
Mackie MR5 mk3
RCF Ayra 5 (studio monitor)

Because choosing PC speaker not as easy as choosing PC parts,
I have collected PC Speakers with the most good reviews.
So how about you, what do you think is the best for PC speakers, quality wise?
Any input is welcome, and thanks before.
