While I agree with the writer of the linked site that Hola has some severe problems that need to be addressed, the only time Hola acts as a proxy or exit node is when your computer is completely idle. You'd have to leave it running without having any active programs going and without using the keyboard and mouse. This has been in the FAQ since before it was recently changed. If you read it during the sign up, you knew what you were getting into when you agreed to it. I did. Did you?

As for the claims that it doesn't protect your information at all, the FAQ says otherwise and the site itself does not address the topic. They are more concerned with Hola's ability to allow others to execute programs and other malicious code on your system, the way users are being used as exit nodes for other users, and the way Hola tries to cover up these issues instead of discussing what they can do to change their service to become safer.

So please don't spread FUD around. People are overreacting enough about Hola already without actually knowing what they agreed to or what Hola has done or hasn't done. This kind of alarmist response just makes things worse (even though I agree that uninstalling Hola at the moment is the best way to deal with this situation).
