American Werewolf. I was a little too young to watch it probably. But there are some scenes in there, which are so simple in execution but perfectly timed. one especially was like a slap in the face with a wet towel...
Also, Psycho, the scene where the protagonist turns the Bates mother around and she is a corpse - Aaargh!
To this day, I remember seeing that scene on some documentary as an example of something and it haunted me ever since. Hitchcock is just fantastic!
Edit: Just recalled the opening of Alien. The use of music in that part of the movie is breathtaking. Also, I always loved the fact that the actors were unaware of what would be happening to John Hurt in the scene in the canteen. That shock in their faces is real! Lol

One day, when I was in the university and lived in the dorm, I was watching Paranormal activity with my roommates. It was about 2 PM, the lights were out, we were reasonably engaged with the movie, and the middle of some intense scene SOME LOUD AS FUCK NOISE CAME OUT OF NOWHERE.
Apparently some drunk freshman was coming back from the club or smth and has shattered the mirror in the hall. Our room was on the 1st floor, it was like 15 meters from us. I thought I'd die from the heart attack.

Actually... I think not.
I had nightmares when I was a kid in kindergarden and I haven't seen horror movies before that.
On the other hand I haven't really watched that many horror movies.
Althooooooough! It hasn't left a mark but it was the first time I was actually scared by a movie if that counts.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. I watched it when it came out and the scene where leatherface chases that dude through the hung up laundry I was almost panicking. :D
Nowadays I just find most horror movies incredibly lame because the stories never appeal to me and they are pretty basic and predictable most of the time.
The last horror movie I enjoyed was the Evil Dead remake probably because I watched the original the day before with friends and after that we went to the cinema. The amount of detail and love put into the remake made it really good!

So that's why Americans are afraid of clowns so much? :D

"6th sense" but mostly because I was quiet young.... 11 yo or so, lots of nightmares
Now those movies cannot affect me, but I like Babadook a lot.

After looking at my list of movies yesterday, I was wondering, have the people of SG ever watched a horror movie that left a psychological mark on you? For me, it would be The Ring series. When I was younger, I used to love horror movies. Still do. But one movie in particular left a mark on me. The Ring. I can't pinpoint why, to be honest. But that movie, to this day, terrifies the hell out of me. I still have nightmares occasionally. In fact, I was reading the book when I was 10 years old that the movie was based off of, and I couldn't sleep for two days straight.
