Oh nvm, was overthinking.

Same, stuck at the third step, found the hint there and the pieces but unclear what to do with them

Bump for solved.

Been conflicted about getting the game, but if the money's already been spent then it changes nothing if I win. Harry Potter was, and forever will be, part of my childhood. Besides, even if you disagree with the author's stance consumer side boycotting is ineffective. You can spend your money elsewhere, but it's very likely some of it will go to someone you also disagree with on something.

Not looking to start a conversation on the subject, just sayin'.

It's a generous giveaway, and short of a friend or family member gifting me the game, this is the only way I will likely be playing it.

Anyway, I digress, cheers for the clever puzzle. Gives me some ideas of what I want to do for my first puzzle giveaway.

2solve me isn't working for me for two days now. Everytime I enter anything and hit submit, it would display "Error occured". Tried on three different browsers. Is it me or is this part of the puzzle?

Seems to work ok here.

Tried on Chrome, Firefox, Brave and Opera with the very same result.
This is what it looks like for me:

Happened to me once on my mobile on Chrome but it's working fine now across my devices.
That's odd that it happens with all your browsers. Do they have similar extensions or add-ons?
Could be AV related?

Now that the giveaway is over, can someone say what the answers were, out of interest?

I found the "f0" and "15" in the image but didn't know what to do with them.

There were a total of four of those to find, as the Jigidi title said.
going from the left to right of the picture.

2solve.me uses 8-character length codes with numbers and lower case letters so going with the same format The real Sorting Ceremony was where it lead, which was like part 2 of the original quiz. Then at the end of that quiz was the link to the actual giveaway.

ehh what....
I got the four codes , didn know need to put them back to 2solve.me
Sometimes this is just too much steps

Well the length usually says what to try. 5 is likely a giveaway link, 6-7 imgur, 8 can be jigidi or 2solve etc. It's usually the same sites.

Well i thought the code need a special program to decode and get the link.
I dunno i have the time to try everything out there.

Anyway appreciate your explanation on the follow up. A lot of puzzle do not have an answer.

Thanks for letting me know. I spent a decent amount of time looking for more but obviously didn't manage to find them at the time, so I thought I was missing something else. I see them now though, and would have gotten the rest.

I already had the game anyway (from a giveaway on another site), just wanted to see if I could solve the puzzle 😛

Well, better late than never. I made it to the end. I really need to get used to 2solve url format. I thought only Jigi has 8 characters and I tried that.
Duh.
Sleep helps I guess.

I was actually going to leave a comment on the GA but I guess nobody ended up winning that one. Region locks suck.

Amen to that Fluffster. I'll put together a region restricted GA that all previous solvers will be able to join automaticaly. This lock was not about a region-locked key, it was about RU being embargoed and the publisher not releasing the game in RU at all. I could not send the gift to the winner.

It is possible to narrow down the probable region locks beforehand using SteamDB but it's not a 100% sure thing every time and it would take a bit of time and effort doing it for every single game over and over again, so I totally get not wanting to deal with that. For gifts on Steam it is usually a bit easier because there's usually less Store packages than Key packages to check. In this specific case it would have been pretty obvious since there's only 3 Store packages and all explicitly list Russia and Belarus but it's not always that easy.

Hey WaxWorm - trawling through SteamDB is precisely the work I don't see myself doing every single time. Besides, I can't even get the page for Hogwarts Legacy to open atm. If it's that easy SG should be doing it anyway, but the moderator specifically said that's not going to happen as there's no way to do it reliably, apparently.

Yeah, doing it automatically and reliably is impossible with the tools at hand. Even doing it manually is not 100% safe.

Hm, how would that work? The solution to the riddle is out there... Did you copy all entries and want to contact us all separately?
Did you try to get a reroll? I know that that's not generally what should happen with region locked keys but I think I would have tried...

SG moderators always deny re-roll requests for region lock issues. I tried nevertheless :)

I'll probably edit the URL given on the last stage, so you can just revisit the page and voila. Will post an update here.

That would probably lead to a lot more entries, since the last stage link and the general solution are public by now:

The solution including the link to the last stage is already in this thread, so that might be too easy...
Why not make a new puzzle?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Making a new puzzle is more work and it doesn't "compensate" the people who solved this one.
I guess 2solve has time stamps so anyone who solved the puzzle before the end of the GA is easy to find

Ah... heh... sorry I kinda spoiled it earlier on this thread. Didn't think there would be troubles...

Sorry!

Sorry you did all this work for the puzzle and you have to make another GA.
I guess Russian users should know by now that Russia has been blackballed but I can't blame them for trying. Must suck to win a great game like that and not be able to play the game.
I'm just glad I finally solved the puzzle but that's the selfish part.

Ha, checked your profile to see you still had an invite only GA going, got through the whole thing, THEN read the title.

I had fun though, thanks!

You are amazing DirigibleDan - but there's still hope :) New GA in the making, that should be easy or trivial for previous solvers and somewhat harder for everyone else.
