What does that do? Everyone says thanks on every giveaway. I read somewhere they said it increases your chances of winning which I doubt. There's also a firefox plugin that automatically says thanks to every giveaway you enter.

I just recently started giving away games here, and I really don't see the point of all of the people saying thanks. What I really want to see is people getting my games and actually playing them(which so far hasn't really been happening).

It would be awesome if I give someone a great game and later check their profile and see they've put 50 hours into it. Then I know that my gift was really appreciated.

It does not affect your chance of winning.

It's called manners? I say thanks to the girl at the coffee shop when she gives me my coffee, and she's being paid to do it.

Someone on SG decided to spend their own money to give me a chance at a free game; damn right I'm going to thank them for that.

Also, as someone who also gives things away, nothing sucks more than to see a pile of entries and no comments at all on a giveaway.

When I buy a lottery ticket, I don't thank the cashier. Why would I bother?

If I win, I'll come back and show her some courtesy. Until then, my stony silence will do just fine...

Because you're BUYING a lottery ticket. If the cashier would give that for free, would be a good thing to do to thank him.

People around here are giving away games with cash out of their pockets (mostly) and would not be bad to show a little gratitude. Even just for the chance to win it

Saying thanks is a tradition in SG to keep all the curses and illness away. That's why every single member of the community is healthy till today.

It shows gratitude, although most people prefer "real" comments. If there's a game I really want, I tend to tell the giver just why, just to show the game is reallt appreciated, and worth my time.

Honestly I don't really care who or if someone is saying thanks in a comment in my giveaways. But I hope that the winner will either PM me or at least leave a comment on my profile saying thanks after he redeems my gift before he removes me from friends list. I hate hit and runners.
