A question for those of you who, like myself, have an excessive backlog of games:

What do you use to keep track of your games? What do you like/dislike about it?

I'm not exactly tracking them (except for how I have them organized in my Steam Library) but lately I have been looking up which games are shorter and am playing through those first. I don't have much time per week to game anymore sadly so being able to finish games quicker keeps me interested more.

I check in on that sometimes, mostly to mark games as completed, but have never considered it a tracker. I suppose you could use it as one if you only have Steam games though.

I'm gonna go through games with card drops soon. Including a bit of wallet I have now, hopefully I'll make about £5 and in preparation for winter sale (or whenever MGR goes 75% off)

I just install AAA titles, (like 5 of them) and then shuffle around like a hot potato, finally deciding to play small games (currently Bastion, Mark of the Ninja etc)

It's really really weird and I have no idea why I do it...

I have a spreadsheet where I list all games on my backlog, and each game receive points according to the criteria:

  • If the game is considered mainstream or indie (usually I leave mainstream games with +2 points);

  • How much I desire to play it (there are 4 levels, going from 5 to 12 points);

  • How much time to beat (according to howlongtobeat) (there are also 4 levels, from 8 to 12 points - longer game has less points);

  • If is the first time I am playing the game (+ 10 points);

  • If I have the game (+5 points) (Well... there are some months I play a game I do not own, so this is kinda useless now);

The nice thing for me is that I can change the weight of everything according to my preference at the moment, so it fits my mood any time.

I just stare at them. Too overwhelmed at what to pick to play, I leave my library, browse the store, and buy something new to add to it.

Rinse and repeat.

Simple. Get addicted to dota2 or csgo and ull never want to play anything else ever again. Problem solved

I think of it as not handling but more of fondling my backlog.

Works for me.

Do you play non-Steam games at all?

For non-Steam games I just keep a .txt file that says what games I've never finished.

im not buying anything till winter sale. i only buy via steam wallet if i can get some money from cards.
