Seriously, it could just be you jet-setting throughout 3 locales - the US, Japan, and Europe, and you have to maintain a separate garage in each country that's filled with unique regional cars that you can trick out. And the final 'boss' battle takes place across the three continents and in several stages, so you actually have to maintain your three garages.

But of course it'll never happen.
