Starbound, if you don't mind the pixel graphics.
edit: Didn't see lovol already mentioned it, but it's really good anyway.

Starbound, of course! But I suggest you to play it with friends. Fighting your way through planets, gathering resources and scavenging equipment and furniture on different planets and then building your own base together is something that you will enjoy a lot, but always keep an eye on the clock or you'll play till dawn.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is a great space strategy game.
Space Pirates and Zombies was a fun top-down space adventure.
I'm a fan of Star Wolves 3, it's a squadron tactical game where you travel to different systems do merc jobs.
Star Wars: Empire at War has all the space conquest, and planetary conquest.
Endless Space 2 is coming out, it's more 4X than Stellaris.

I went through my wishlist and found a few that I thought you might find interesting:

Didn't see this one mentioned... but then again it bends the rules since you are only briefly in space and then are mostly just on alien planet:
Planet Explorers
also controller support was shit last time I checked so plan on mouse and keyboard if you are interested (or look at a controller-to-keyboard mapper; I like anti-micro for this but some folks may prefer xpadder or pinnacle). On the plus side, it is one of the few games that actually offers a demo :-)

I saw many solid titles already (highly recommend The Solus Project, Osiris: New Dawn and ASTRONEER), but this one missing, no one mentioned it yet.
Purely exploration, a bit puzzle, slow paced with no building or anything, so you can sit back, relax and play even at your laziest day. The lonely feeling when travel through everything alone, darn I love it.

I was looking through my played games and was going to add this. Good to see you added it.

I'm surprised no one said Mass Effect. The 1 has planet exploration on the ground with a vehicle. The 2 and 3 just stays on the space, but it visit the planet.

A lot of people are just suggesting "explore in a space ship" games but the real issue here is that there aren't a ton of "explore on the actual planet" games out there that are actually good. A lot of the early access ones are, y'know, early access. They're not very good, either. Even Starbound ended up being such a mediocre game, and it still is. You can actually complete the base game very quickly, and the popular mod(Frackin' Universe) that adds a lot to it just makes the game extremely grindy(as well extremely difficult but that adds to the grind) and not fun overall, which is a real shame.
Also, games that make it complicated like Space Engineers personally turn me off. I tried to get into that game but it just wasn't fun because it ended up being a situation where I'd have to watch hours of tutorials just to play a little of the game and understand it.
I'm looking at this thread myself to find some good ones but I'm just seeing all of the early access online open-world games(aka the ones that have serious griefing and don't allow for singleplayer, yuck, just like Rust!) or ones that are more in space ship- exploration and not so much on planet exploration, which is fine but the space exploration games always have that very specific RTS type of gameplay to them, and never a very calm and casual feel to them(this includes games akin to Wing Commander and what-not).
So, yeah, can't personally suggest any myself that I can honestly say are amazing, but I'm watching this thread.

Starbound is one of two (that I know of) Early Access games where the developers progressively made the game worse.
Lego Worlds is the second one.

Theyv'e pretty much covered the exploring on planet, but ones I can think to add that if you like exploring on a spacestation or ship might be Event[0], Spirits of Xanadu, and Verde Station. They're not exploring planets though. De-Void is pretty much a walking sim (similar to Verde Station), but it has both a station and a planet section if you like walking sims. Kairo is pretty interesting if you like this type of theme also.
EDIT: I looked on my wishlist and wanted to add these. I like exploration themed games also, so here's some on my wishlist. I think alot have been mentioned, but: No Man's Sky, The Solus Project, Submerged, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Rodina, Homesick, Planet Explorers, The Uncertain, J.U.L.I.A Among the Stars, Astroneer. Some of these, like Submerged are not other planets, but seem like interesting world to explore.

Definitely Stellaris and Offworld Trading Company for strategy games, and also Endless Space, Osiris: New Dawn and the new Master of Orion are worth mentioning. If you like space-themed games in general, check PlanetBase or Tharsis, both set on Mars (or on the way to Mars).

Hello,
I am searching for games like No mans sky, Star Citizen and Mass Effect.
You can play in space and can customize and then you can also play on planets and can explore or what ever. It even can be a strategy games in space like stellaris but the important part is, that you can explore the planets.
The graphic doesnt matter it can be 2D or 3D.
Well as promised a little Train as thanks :)
