What's in the Eye of Groupees?

View Results
[Preorder] The confirmed games looks promising. Buying.
[Buy after release] Wow, I can't believe I mised the preorder. Tis is too good, I must have (some of) these games no matter the cost.
[Hints] The hints are not enough to convince me to throw my money into this; I need more!
[Skip] Nah, even after the last two 6er bundles, I still don't think that Groupees deserve my money.
[Obligatory Be Mine Option] Wen will we be able to Grab A Be Mine Instead?

Hmmm, the Steam message actually states the reason for the revokation. Supposedly we all received beta keys from Groupees and now the developer is revoking them because the beta/test phase is over. Just when you think you've seen it all...

That was probably just the option the scammer aka developer used to mass revoke the keys.

developers need to fill probably some fields for revocation and that's probably one selectable option as no such option like: "I think it was a mistake to bundle it so let's revoke keys perhaps some will repurchase and so i can earn money."

I want to contact Groupees but didn't take a screenshot of the account alert message, does anybody remember where this kind of info is stored?

Go to the Steam support page, scroll to the bottom, enter the name of the game in the search bar, click on the game and there it'll say when it was activated and when it has been revoked.

We cancelled many illegal product keys. We understand your victimization. If you send us an email with proof screenshot (about you got the game in your library), we will help you.

Thanks.

Hello,
The problem is not from us. They didn't pay us about anything. We understand your victimization but you have to contact with Groupees.
Thanks

First time I am hearing that Groupees did not pay devs. Or did I miss something?

I doubt it that Groupees hasn't paid him. Him making this kind of (potentially criminal) allegations is just making his situation worse.

I wouldn't send this guy anything. I don't know if posting his Steam profile link here would be considered naming and shaming, so just check out his profile from the Steam discussions link and you'll notice something very "interesting" in red letters on the right side of the page...

Someone should start reporting the scamming developers to the police. If we can get like 100 people to sign the report to the police, they might do something about it. I'll gladly sign the report.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And which police will be that? Interpol? Cause I doubt your local police station can/want/has the authority to catch some guy in Russia who deactivated 1000 codes worth 100$ in total. The only one who can stop these idiots is steam, but they make money out of them (and out of the people who buy their crappy games for the +1 or the cards).

Just contact the FBI guys who are handling SG groups, this should fit their area of expertise.

There is simply no point in reporting this in most countries. Someone in the US should start a class action against Valve for aiding and abetting theft/fraud because they help scammy developers to steal from their customers without checking if the developer has reason and right to invalidate sold keys.
In this particular case maybe groupees can sue this asswipe, he practically acused them in a public forum of selling illegal keys...

Agree. It's a better approach. I'll sign up for this.

I believe the EU is a better place to do this...

Really? Germany doesn‘t have class-action lawsuits and I do not know if other countries in the EU have them.

We don't need them, we have bureaucrats to complain to who will handle the lawsuits against companies.

Got a replacement key ... however the mail read:

We understand your victimization. We are trying to solve this problem. Until we do it; we will give a key for you.
We just want that please edit your Negative Comment to a Positive Comment from you about you get a new key from us.

  • Is this key temporary and will be revoked again?
  • Seems negative reviewing is working

... and I found the mail in the spam folder.

Support (Groupees)

Mar 6, 09:44 PST

Hi. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The developer reached out and is trying to fix the problem. He says he'll give us new keys at a later date. There was a lack of communication between Groupees and him that led to this misunderstanding.

Cheers,
Azure

As anyone knows, communication goes both ways. Note how the dev never mentions he attempted to sort out any resolution to the issue pre-revocation. He just revokes all the keys, claiming they were "illegal" whatever that means... is that like someone magicslly managed to generate keys for his game without his knowledge and started distributing them? Dont make me laugh. If you have a problem with someone, sort it out with them, dont go scratching up theirs and everyone elses cars out of willful ignorance and spite.
