Do people even want these games? They look hideous. I'd rather play those flash games on Newgrounds over these :S

there's always an audience for everything...or at least that's what i like to think :P
though admittedly in the case of the dungeon gate game, the fact that it's from the makers of Garry's Incident is a bit of a stretch...

but then again, anyway, it's 1 free steam xp per game towards your next level...GET ALL DEM EXP

Never heard any good argument against it, so I guess it works. No matter how old it is.

They look similar just by their visuals, but the gameplay seems different.

People who vote yes in these free game once greenlit things are part of the problem overcrowding steam with shovelware. Please, (like it has not already happened) keep steam from becoming an "app store".

Steam is the problem. They're shifting the burden of QA to community. If you want to point a finger, blame Steam not community.

Actually, Valve was more than happy to process all games applying to be launched on their platform, but after a number of people were declined and ranted in journals about how terrible Valve were, they made greenlight as a way for the community to say "We want this game, even if you don't think it's good enough". Greenlight isn't the only way onto Steam. Yeah it's abusable, but consider how many people have said "EVERY ONE OF THESE GAMES SUCK" in each greenlight wave, and consider which of those games you actually liked that wouldn't have made it otherwise?

Hell, I've backed a game on kickstarter that got into steam through greenlight, and titles like Race The Sun only got in through greenlight. That's not passing off the QA. The products still have to meet certain standards of conduct (even if a few rotten eggs do slip through, like Towns). It's not perfect by any means, but holding only a single party at fault is a bit blinkered isn't it?
