I got the $10 tier. Idk what the deal with with folks hating on UPlay - it could use some work, but it's not absolute rubbish - my entire AC collection is on there (along with FC3, 4; Rayman series, etc).

If it included the steam keys for this as well yeah but just uplay f*ck that
Comment has been collapsed.
Why the fuck would it include Steam keys???? Are u fucking mentally retarded???? Even if you were to activate these games on Steam, they would still get activated on UPlay (considering you even have a fucking account) and then they would both run it AT THE SAME TIME. You mean to tell me, you'd rather have two clients running a game instead of one, just so that one of those is Steam? FLAWLESS LOGIC... Congratulations, you just proved you're a complete and total imbecile. You must be sooo proud...
Comment has been collapsed.
wow calm down nice fallow, I'm not the only "mentally retarded" one
umm because these games are available through steam maybe & any true retail version of a game can be activated through steam. Just having uplay gives them way to much power & scary if someday they realize maybe uplay wasn't such a great idea for them. Many retailers give out multiple keys for different drm, why not here, origin have done it on humble bundles in the past too. Also by using steam's client it means i don't have to install another client + steam client works pretty close to 100% of the time + can download through steam + Steam Workshop + Steam Trading cards + etc
Comment has been collapsed.
Why would they give two keys when the Steam key will automatically also activate the game on UPlay, since there is NO OTHER WAY TO RUN IT? Only a handful of those games are old enough to have Steam versions that run without UPlay so why would they do that? It's THEIR PLATFORM so it's only logical they promote that. Also, there is NO retail version of any UBISOFT GAME that has a Steam key. ALL of them are UPlay only. Believe me when I tell you this, cause I live in Romania where retail versions of Ubi games are pretty cheap, so I bought quite a few. Also, like I said, if you would own these games on Steam, you would still have to have UPlay open when you play them. So, you will MOST CERTAINLY have to have another client. You seem to live in your own little world completely detached from reality. Also, what kind of imbecile cares THAT much for cards and badges? Not that any Ubisoft game has that, even on Steam, but whatever...
Comment has been collapsed.
"Only a handful of those games are old enough to have Steam versions" only a hand full is better than none :)
"Also, there is NO retail version of any UBISOFT GAME that has a Steam key" how about Rocksmith & Rocksmith 2014 then?
"Not that any Ubisoft game has that" a list of ubi games that use steam features; Rocksmith 2014, TrackMania² Canyon, TrackMania² Stadium, ShootMania Storm, R.U.S.E., Shoot Many Robots, ZOMBI, Grow Home, Call of Juarez® Gunslinger, Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon

Not sure how many Ubisoft game you actually bought, Steam and retail but on Steam 95% of the Ubisoft games require Uplay as well. So you have a client inside another client. Also ALL retail Ubisoft games come ONLY with Uplay keys. Moreover, if you actually take a look at all new Ubisoft games on Steam you will notice they don't have cards or achievements simply because Uplay and Steamworks are not compatible.
And there is no such thing as TRUE retail version of a game. There is only retail and digital editions.
"Just having uplay gives them way to much power & scary if someday they realize maybe uplay wasn't such a great idea " - And Steam does not give Valve too much power? If Valve decides to cut off the servers for some part of the world or region lock games and you will be able to play it only where you got it from (oh wait, this is actually happening in some parts of the world)? What then? Read Steam EULA and you will see what you actually own and not and what rights has Valve and you. It's the same thing on ANY client, except GOG and Desura.
Get your facts straight first.
Comment has been collapsed.
"So you have a client inside another client"? You have two different DRM running at once i guess for theses cases but steam doesn't launch the uplay client does it?
"take a look at all new Ubisoft games" what's new? Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon, Rocksmith have cards & are only two years old, have ubi come out and said their new games are compatible because of uplay? to me it seems it's more just a case of ubi not wanting to put it in but that doesn't mean they will never be added does it?
the "TRUE retail version" thing was about a key not just being designed just for steam it just a key for that game, people have used their steam keys to get access to the origin version of the game but people can't go back the other way if you know what I mean?
" And Steam does not give Valve too much power" Steam is DRM mostly for other companies these days though, so I'd imagine these other companies could bring Valve to court or they could release the game themselves or through other DRM. Steam is also getting pretty big these days much bigger than uplay currently is, so there is more security there, ubi just by itself could crumble
Yeah I fully agree that region locking thing sucks arse, steam has bad points, DRM Free is the way to go

Actually Steam launches Uplay and from there you launch the game. Or at least that's how it was since AC2 got out untill Might & Magic X: Legacy was released last year. After getting stuck with this crap I decided to buy the game again directly on Uplay.
As for the new Ubisoft games, I am talking about 95% of the games released after AC2. But you don't have to take my word for it. Get this extension HERE, go HERE and it will tell you about all DRMs a game has. All AC series except AC1 has Uplay built in. Far Cry 3 and 4, SplinterCell Conviction and Blacklist, Heroes VI, Anno starting 2070 and so on. The only exceptions I know are the ones you mention + Heroes HD and CoJ Gunslinger and the older games.
As for the retail versions, I bought a pack with Blod Dragon + Gunslinger and received only the Uplay keys. No Steam keys inside.
The problem with Origin / Uplay is the fact that EA and Ubisoft games update through game updaters while Steam does it through the client. If you ask me this is the right thing to do because when you download the game you get it preinstalled and fully updated and you won't have to start the game to update it. From this stand point EA and Ubisoft went full retard. However, this is the problem with puting their games on Steam. They could, technically speaking but they don't want to. And as I said before, I cannot blame a company for wanting to sell its own games on its own platform.
EA did indeed give Steam keys for their games that are on Steam in its bundles but I would guess it has something to do with the fact EA is the retail publisher and the one that makes the console ports for Valve games. This also explains whi you will find Valve games on Origin but not on Uplay. Also, I used some of my Steam keys to get the Origin version of the EA games I own but I had to go through support. None of my keys were redeemable directly through Steam. So in the end I received the game but it's activated with a different key that's associated with my Steam key. Very much like Windows 7/8 upgrade to 10. Ubisoft it's douche here since I am unable to activate my old retail games because the system cannot check it. It pisses the hell outta me but it won't stop me to get Ubisoft games if I like them. In the end all I want is to play a game, not to spend my life on a certain platform.
And of course, Ubisoft could crumble but Ubisoft it's not alone, it has some publishers behind it that have their games on Uplay. And while it is more likely for Ubi to fail than Valve, I still it's a very slim chance.

Yeah, because it's right and cool for Valve to make money by selling for other people but wrong for a company to sell its own games via its own client. This reminds me of the old MS days when companies start suing MS for having built in an internet browser, document viewer or security software.
Comment has been collapsed.
True, but the idea is the same, choice or not. Ubisoft has the right to sell their games on their own platform without having to pay Valve for this. Same, you can choose to play the game or not, if you don't like Uplay. But this doesn't mean that if some believe every single company should pay Valve to sell their own games, it's also the right thing or that Ubisoft or EA are doing it wrong.
Comment has been collapsed.
EA/Ubisoft sale and user reports show otherwise. They make a lot of money on those clients or they wouldn't keep them on. Origin has 60 million users as of Q4 of 2013 and Uplay has a bit less. I'd say it's something for 2 platforms that are waaay "younger" than Steam.
Comment has been collapsed.
Uplay/Origin are PC only clients and they are different from Ubisoft Account or EA Account. The fact that they keep it on and up to date and the fact that all major developers chose to add their game to Uplay and Origin as well shows Steam isn't the only successful client out there.Even Valve is selling their games through Origin. There is no different story, no matter how much Steam fans would like it to be. Microsoft tried with their GFWL market to sell games and failed so they shut it down. No corporation is willing to keep alive a service that isn't productive, even if closing it means sacrificing some of its user mass.

You mean..to say "goes", "their" and..."loss"... I guess when you're Valve indoctrinated drone who thinks that if a game isn't on Steam, then it doesn't exist, small, "insignificant" things like grammar and vocabulary are an enigma to you.

I'm a bit surprised at the title distribution in this bundle. Standar bundle tier logi would suggest that Splinter Cell 1 be in the $1 tier, and Chaos Theory in the BTA instead of the other way around the way it is now.
Comment has been collapsed.
Would have bought it if it were for steam and uplay and not uplay alone. Eh. Its fine to push a product (uPLAY) but you'd think they'd have worked out the kinks by now.

"OUR GAME CLIENT". LOOOOOL, you're particularly stupid, even by Valve indoctrinated imbecile standards. It's not "OUR game client", it's GABEN's. He's just letting u use it so you can give him MONEY, LOTS OF IT!!!!!
Comment has been collapsed.
No. the client belongs to Valve. You wrote 0 lines of code and you had 0 ideas that were actually built in the client. There for it's not yours. You DON'T OWN any software, free or paid. You are only given the permission to use it. You are the one with flawed bs logic here.
Comment has been collapsed.
I might have an idea or two. But what do I know about software licensing and cracking? I'm only a software developer.
Really, why would you crack Steam? It becomes useless. Also, cracking a game doesn't make it yours because you didn't make it, trademark it or invent it. Not to mention it was not your idea to begin with. In fact, not even the cracks belong to you. You just bypass any activation/protection measure.

Hello, SteamGifts here. Charity only works if it's supported by Steam / Valve. Otherwise it's bad.
Comment has been collapsed.
That whole table is so BS...
You could insert any Steam games there, at Steam instead of UPlay and add Yes to cards. How does this change anything? You should rename this discussion to "I don't buy games without cards" or "I don't l play games unless I have 2 clients running in the same time". :|

Almost bought the 1$ tier then saw drm is Uplay.... changed my mind reeeealy fast!

I tried to play Far Cry 3 Blood dragon the other day but Uplay was down...no offline mode = a big middle finger up to gamers.
and the $75+ to unlock is some kind of sick joke saved me at least $1 this week lol normally I max a bundle if i get one because that means it has at least 5 games i want and 1 or 2 in the max tier but Uplays lack of functionality really puts me off.
Comment has been collapsed.
Uplay has an offline mode and had it back then as well...
Comment has been collapsed.
And when the servers are down half the time you can't set it to offline mode because you have to first log in to do it.
Steam used to have a great bug that wiped your log in details and you couldn't get to offline mode with out login in while online first but that got fixed. Uplay still has the bug Like i said i tried the other day and couldn't log in so couldn't play Blood Dragon.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

EndWar & Splinter Cell: Double Agent added.
I kinda expected EndWar to be in there, but I still can't help but feel disappointed. It's not a very good game, and the novelty of its voice control make it more of an annoyance if you happen to speak with the wrong accent (it could not understand certain words for me).

Got round to thinking about this bundle again, missing so many games in the series + uplay, it rather get the whole collection rather than have whole in it, so i'll pass on this bundle & wait for another more complete day
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not quite sure what you're missing there, it's complete as far as it's currently available.
What's missing:
RS Rogue Spear + some lesser known expansion packs for it //impossible to obtain via digital dl
RS Lockdown //shit-tier
Island Thunder expansion for Ghost Recon
GRAW 1+2 //hard to obtain via digital dl - probably just leftover keys
SC Pandora Tomorrow //impossible to obtain via digital dl - there's some "unfixable" issue with used game engine on newer systems
HAWX series //not even introduced in this bundle
So yeah, it's fairly complete.
