in my experience it's better at everything than windows is except for running stuff that's released for windows but not linux. my wife's laptop is actually set up with ubuntu as the primary os since she mostly just uses firefox anyway, with windows installed on a virtualbox for when she wants to run ms office. i haven't used ms office at home for years because libreoffice does everything but open complicated ms office layouts better than ms office. i usually boot windows on my desktop for gaming and visual studio but ubuntu on my laptop for browsing and media management and editing.
i also run fedora on my previous desktop in the basement as my personal file server, dvr, and sometimes game server. that has the bonus effect of giving me a linux command line even when i'm in windows :)

I decided to dual boot Windows 7 with Ubuntu. I tried it and found it incredibly easier to use, and it was faster(because of less processes). What your opinion on Ubuntu? Do you think it's a piece of shit, or the best OS in the world?
PS: I'm typing this on Ubuntu.
Edit: I use Windows for Gaming, and Ubuntu for casual internet browsing.
