Basically the same way you mentioned it. So far the US has gone through the same way without any consequences like taking over Vietnam for no reason and nobody was shaming that, why wouldn't Russia be able to do the same, is it because they are communist and we are part of a more rational and democratic world? True that Ukraine would have fallen and more or less only the northern-west parts but at least the people would have been alive and healthy which is what I am pointing at. My main issue being the supply of industrial and food related commodities which Europe has been benefiting from for quite a while. There were speeches of US democrats and representatives from a while ago which were wondering why they can't sell us natural gas and it was because russia was selling it to us cheaply. Maybe I have put my tinfoil hat but no one is clean. I agree that people shouldn't die and defend each other but this genuinely is an American interest. I find it hard to believe Putin would touch a NATO country as mentioned above exactly due to that fact. If he wanted to start a nuclear holocaust he would have done it already.

I am totally with you for the part that we can't just idle and let Putin conquer lands unpunished but I am trying to bring a second opinion that the US has been doing exactly the same with the Oil reserves which they "liberated" back in the last century and this was unpunished as well and was found very moral because the western world enjoyed cheaper petrol. Why am I bringing the opinion, because I am recently seeing how EU is shaming Russia that it owes it resources and their day to day lives are becoming unbearable which sounds super clownish to me. First you start sanctioning your biggest provider based on nothing then you get involved with a war that is not related to you and then you cry because you can't pay your bills. It's just my honest opinion as said and maybe I am tunnel visioned.

Regarding Russia taking over Ukraine, do you realize that this is still ongoing? Russia sells to China which is then resold at a premium to us and on top of that China is cutting relations with the US which means the communist party of the east is forming. The same way the EU is buying weapons from the US to support it from our side. I am curious how that would play out economically and hope we really don't escalate further.

You seem content with this simplicity. (For record, I don't agree with the other guy either). I wonder what you would have written about Iraq, Libya and their leaders personally, and others on "the wrong side of history". List of baddies can go back in centuries.

All these wars going back in ages are between economical models and control over these, a vulgar and old as the world struggle for being the fittest, continuously weakening others. Because the strongest is always right. All the justification decor is attached by the winners a posteriori. This never was something populations of these countries truly wanted, however they were often persuaded to believe that they did.
Masters as a class being reinforced in belief that they need to be masters and compete with each other for that, and slaves that all this is just normal.

We are all also idly sitting "like allies in the beginning" while big players (a list of powerful countries / alliances) openly build more and more economical and military warfare facilities outside of their countries (directed at everyone not in the same camp) and deploy loads of weapons, also nuclear, far outside of their own territory - even in another hemisphere. No, how this works and where this can go by design doesn't bother anyone.

These few things are not leading to anything good for people of this planet. And again, this is just a naive, broad example, and doesn't even scratch the surface.
How can any sane human being think that everything is not connected with one another, a mystery. Ah, maybe more important is to argue "who is Hitler" in each context, pointing fingers in circle.

And the whole excuse of "allies in the beginning" not knowing anything, please. There was international diplomacy. Before events unfolded as these did, there were many options of who would ally and fight against who and how all of this would be divided in result. Every country and every faction within worked towards favorable for them outcome, make no mistake. You think Britain or most of other imperialistic and capitalistic countries wouldn't be delighted if a war between Axis and communists broke out earlier without Germany securing the west first? Oh, they all could even help such a conflict to drag until both combatants are dry and ready for a pie cutting. There is plenty of opened documentation and accounts regarding diplomacy between Britain, Germany, Poland and Soviet Union, for instance. And Japan. You would be surprised how far this is from a "common knowledge".

We have to learn history to do less of the same mistakes. However right now humanity is largely ignorant even of events of 20th century. Not accidentally. Having a critical mind and not taking sides when dealing with knowledge and learning is not considered a virtue. Most of us are living in realities imagined, constructed, learned in local societies, parallel to what happened in the real world. And some literally die for these. What a horrible crime against humanity, this fog.
