Currently all they are doing to 'help' trading is horrible.

Ah, I see. Care to tell me how?

Edit: Judging by your profiles (Steam and Steamtrades); you don't seem like a trader. I would suggest you stop supporting horrible ideas that you have nothing to do with.

30 days gift lock should only happen on 1 year old or less accounts, first payment to steam or new credit card used

Please do not reply to this thread if you have no idea what you are saying, some people are supporting Valve's actions yet have no reason to do so.

To slow down abuse by payment chargebacks, what more reason do you want?

All in all you still can trade games but you just have to wait longer. Gifting are not affected so it's still a good method for everyone giving games to other people. They're still being nice to not prohibiting games trading at all.
Traders are just seems to hurt by this action because it will lower their profit, and people who exploiting regional prices.

Valve only thought about themselves when doing this action. Now people who trade by gifting won't be able to get refunds if the gift gets revoked.

You should have to take full risks and responsibility if you are going by trading anyway. You don't buy directly from their store, therefore you shouldn't get priority support.

^This.

Even in the case of chargebacks, the money and items all ended up removed, or back in the hands of their rightful owners. This flimsy "reasoning" is at best a smokesceen, and at worst a giant "FUCK YOU" to any users whose brains are in anything approaching a functional state.

The ONLY reasons Valve made these changes were to reduce the cross-region trading of cheap games, and to comply with Humane Society backed legislation, limiting the number of hours a month chimpanzees can be legally employed (which obviously had serious ramifications for the Steam Support burden).

Bumping this as a reminder of what horrible things Valve has done for us.

I'm not so much blindly supporting what steam's doing but I'm not having much sympathy for a group of people who see fit to abuse price glitches/other areas because what steam has isn't good enough, and often spouting transparent justifications, such as:

"EU's too much" Nothing stopping you from buying from the US area or some other moderate area.

While this whole thing might take Nuuvem out of the picture for most, I just shrug and deal with it as I understand that wasn't a normal thing in the first place. And between Steam/The publishers and the RU abusers, the former's reason for lying is justified (last thing they need is any more abusers)

As for the other places? Inferior selection and odds are they'll be resorting to these things far quicker, otherwise they'll go out of business as they're not as big as steam is.

Gotta love how they locked my country even though we use the dollar on Steam (not our regional currency) and we've got the same prices as US (mostly the same, some are more expensive). Valve really thinks in what they're doing.

and? Games are already cheap on Steam... if people pay full price for a game then hopefully you enjoy it. Otherwise wait for a sale. SO they destroyed people from scamming or trading digital items that they own (not us) That is the risk of digital items and something we have all agreed too (im sure its in the user agreement that we all okay at lease once )

Does it suck Probably, does it affect me? not much i trade sell and buy cards and stuff but was never big in trading keys (cant even recall if i ever had one). So good luck with this but know it wont help, but if history has shown us anything its that there will always be another way to make a buck. ;)

All the social injustices across the world, in each and every backyard but nah, let's picket and protest this.

Wonder what catchy slogan you guys are going to be putting on your t-shirts. Hands up, don't ban? I can't trade? Don't region lock me, bro? Riots attempting to burn down digital stores? Don't tread on me? No bulls, no HL3, only Gaben?

Wir vollen raus, Wir sind ein Volk & Vierzig Jahre sind genug!!

Not trying to be facetious but some of the things people choose to get mad over but not others
