Is it worth double-paying for The Outer Worlds?

View Results
[Tier 1] I'll just go full-on Savage-spend mode and pay $10 for a game that is usually $9 on sale and another one that is pretty often bundled, thus has very little value.
[Tier 2] Game collectors, rejoice! We can finally complete our collection with the non-Spacer's Choice Edition!
[Tier 3] The only thing here that's High is the price, but it's ok, these two make it worth.
[Have] I'm happy that I can already enjoy these games without having to spend additional money.
[Skip] I'm pretty content with my Spacer's Choice Edition, and the other games are not really enticing enough to make it buy it.

They just had a t1 for $5 and it was already a t1 for $5. What the hell is this t1 for $10? Like, bro.

Remove The Outer Worlds altogether, and price this at $20USD and I would have bitten.

[Skip/Have] Already own and have played Trover, Savage Planet+DLC, and recently got Spacers's Choice Edition, so the rest make this only worth $20 to me :)

(Another reason is the kiwi $ is really weak at the moment)

** Also, HB stating 55% off is the highest discount for Hot Garbage is just flat out "Hot Garbage". I bought it for about $4 last year.

Humble bundle offering different versions of the outer worlds and before having some weird version of Control that was called ultimate but didn't include any DLCs, what are some other mishaps did Humble Bundle do?

Ugh, fucking run locks. I'm in Mexico so I'd get that. If I move to another country will the game be completely unplayable?

Well, the restriction is only for the first 90 days from activation.
If you change your Humble Bundle country to USA you'd get a WW key that you can redeem and play immediately, but with future bundles you might get keys that cannot be redeemed on your LATAM Steam account. And changing the country on Humble Bundle back to your original one has a 30 days cooldown if I recall correctly.

Also, if you do change to USA, keep in mind that some USA states have extra taxes for digital purchases, while others not.
And make sure to get the August Choice from LATAM first (if you want it, obviously) because USA keys for Chivalry 2 and Road 96 will not be redeemable in LATAM.

Humble refused to let me change my region despite me using a US payment method for years. They've also threatened to close my account before, so I don't really buy much of anything other than bundles. If their store had regional pricing in my country then maybe I'd use them more but they charge me US prices for locked keys, so I just go to other stores which have regional pricing (GamersGate, mostly.) I don't mind my Steam account being LATAM region, since 85% of the store is regionally priced except for assholes like EA, Capcom, Bethesda, who raise the price for no reason. But that's another complaint.

I intend to move to the US sometime in the future, I just don't want to end up with unplayable games when I move, you know?

Weird selection of titles
Journey To The Savage Planet was in Amazon Prime together with DLC(GOG version)
Breathedge was free on Epic and is heavily rebundled and that's the 10$ tier

The Outer Worlds in the current Choice(in remastered version)
Trover Saves the Universe was on Alienware
The Entropy Centre - first truly new game in the bundle

High On Life - second new title
The Outer Worlds DLC - included in the remaster in choice

If The Outer Worlds was bundled by another shop then OK, I could get the logic here, but now it seems like they're asking to pay twice for the "same"

I'm not complaining about the games, cause the quality is fine, but basically the price for 2 new titles is similar to what they cost on sales(I assume it depends on region).
It looks like a nice bundle for new customers, but also feels a bit like an offence for regulars especially with the TOW thing

Comment has been collapsed.

A lot of people hate on TOW remaster because of too many technical issues it had, plus it wasn't remastered by the same studio that made the game (Obsidian), and it was called out to be a cash grab until the publisher still had the license to sell the game (assuming they won't have it forever).

I agree though, it's an odd choice of games, especially in such expensive tiers.

Thanks for writing this out! I completely forgot I had JttSP on GOG :)

Just as a correction, I think you mean TOW Remaster was in last month's bundle, not this month's.

I'm glad my comment helped. Normaly I would have refrained from commenting on the bundle, but wanted to give a warning to others, as I think nobody mentioned the GOG version before

As for choice, you're right it was the previous one, my bad. Still, the point is, subscribers recently got the title and now it's a tier 2/3 game(I don't want to go into details of the "remaster")

Oh yeah, for sure. I love talking about GOG if I can; it's a great platform, only held back by what GOG Galaxy could've been. Playnite helps with that though!

I absolutely agree too, feels kind of strange that they decided on bundling TOW this soon...

Is it just me, or do Journey to the Savage Planet and High On Life, look suspiciously similar to Outer Worlds?

I checked - they're made by different studios.
But the graphics almost makes them look like it's the same game...

Comment has been collapsed.

I haven't played high on Life, but Savage Planet is super different to Outer Worlds. Savage Planet has a lot of FMV stuff and the creature designs are a lot more goofy and stylized. Outer Worlds has a much more "serious" and realistic style and the creatures are a lot more generic monsters (with bright colours). Savage Planet's levels are more platforming-based and three dimensional as well (climbing/jumping/flying), while outer Worlds is just flat FPS.

I don't mean they're similar in gameplay or game style.
Just that they look like they were built using the same graphics engine.
Even the 2 screenshots you posted - I wouldn't be able to tell which one is from which game, if you didn't write it down.

It's irrelevant. The discussion was two games having similar art style, without any additional criticism or claiming that every game done with that engine looks the same. Just as two people can look similar, two games can look similar. Proving that the counterpoint exists doesn't disprove the original statement.

ITAD bundle is live: https://isthereanydeal.com/specials/#/options:pending;/filter:id/13408

How much better are the graphics in Outer World's remaster ("Spacer's Choice") for 1440p, and is it still buggy or is the amount of bugs hardware dependent (AMD/Intel/NVIDIA, SSD vs HDD)?

This can be a great buy for people who want 1-2 games from each tier, but otherwise a tough sell given historic lows for most games.

I'm interested in T2, though looks like historic lows for Outer Worlds and Entropy Center are $10. So because I'm not interested in T1 (its "I'm 14 and this is funny" FPSs, which I'm older than), I don't want T3's High On Life, and historic low of Outer Worlds DLC is <$10, then that makes T3 a tough sell.

Also, I guess we're in an weird time where...

  • Remasters (Outer Worlds' "Spacers Choice Edition") happen just 3 years after release (Outer Worlds came out in 2020 on Steam, right?)

  • That remaster launch is super buggy

  • Remaster gets bundled first (Outer Worlds in Humble Choice)

  • Original game gets bundled later with DLC in $30 tier

Makes game pass look better and better...

BTW Breathedge is only "Subnautica in space" to the extent that they're both hand made Open World Survival Craft games. Breathedge does not have much of a story, and instead replaces much of it with humor. The demand for resource fetching caught up to me faster than Subnautica, so I stopped most of the way through Breathedge, but maybe I don't like what OWSC's are because my idea of great survival craft is This War of Mine.

If it weren't for Breathedge (have) and TOW (recently bundled the SC, how can they put this now?) I could think about getting T2, even maybe T3. but with TOW in the middle and having another game, it's a pass.

They messed up really bad with the Spacer's Choice Edition and I'm not only talking about the technical issues, this edition should have never seen the light of day. This initially felt like getting High on Life at a discount with some stuff thrown in in for good measure, but after seeing what they done with Outer Worlds, I'm glad they've included the original version alongside the Season pass.
