LOL! I spent most of yesterday checking winner's stats on SGTools - Thank god for Tempete and his boundless patience with an old Momo!
But seriously, what is up with winners not taking 10 second out of their lives to click the GA and post a simple thank-you? I still have five winners (out of 102) that haven't redeemed their gifts as yet but of the remaining 98, 19 couldn't be bothered to thank me for my time and energy expended much less the cost of the gift. It's not like trains like these (or any posted GA) just happen without a gifter taking the time to create GA - much less the cost - no matter how small - to make this place run. Is it too much to expect the 10 seconds it takes to post, "Thanks for the gift!"? Apparently so... and those who fail this 10 second act of gratitude are joining my blacklist permanently. Almost 20% of 102 GA's... sigh :-( I guess I will be increasing my entry point to Level 4 and I guess posting a warning "Your mother is here to say - fail to say thank-you and you will be blacklisted 4evah :-p" . Pretty sad state of affairs when I have to teach basic manners to ostensibly grown human beings!

I KNOW RIGHT? My god, I can't believe how can people not spent a literal 2 second in writing "thanks"! At this point I can even accept a "ty" if it's really too hard =.=
I honestly don't like to mention that in every single one of my giveaways but there's just too many people neglecting this simple act of common courtesy and personally to me, it's extremely rude, just as you've said. It's like they didn't even acknowledge the money, time and effort you've put into making the giveaways.. Right now I'm using a baseline of 3+ and since I've pretty much stopped doing public giveaways, things are looking much better than it was. Doing a 0.25 ratio check is good enough to get people to read the description, it seems.

I've given away around 160 gifts during my event last week, all redeemed but one.
I would say half of the winners haven't taken two seconds to say thanks...

Hmm... The ironic thing is that the more gifts you that you gave away, the more you realized that a lot of people just don't give two squat about what or why you did it. They just want free games and in my personal view, these kinds of people deserved the blacklist. I mean, they could at least acknowledged the time and effort someone put in when making the giveaways by saying thanks, even if it's a cheap bundle game.
I wish things would went a lot better for you but I guess this is just how the minorities of SteamGifters works.

Of course, the majority of people here are nice folks and I'm glad you have the chance to meet a lot of them :) Just don't let what I wrote deter your passion in giving games away. My opinion is directed to the very few minorities that makes my SG experience a bit distasteful. I had fun giving away too, especially if the winner is truly grateful for the game :)

Yes, it is the winners that write how thrilled they are to have won that make it all worthwhile. And it's the few peeps that comment while the GA is going on or thank me for the effort and say how much fun they're having - yeah, this :-D
But as you say, there are those that just want free gifts (and probably the trading cards), so they don't care about the gift or me - it's just about "screw you, give me the game with trading cards and I am outta here". Well I just found another entrant to my BL and it will only happen to me once with each individual rude jerk. Mwahaha!

Exactly. I've learned not to make a big fuss over them after a while and just put them on my list. At least now I know I'll never have to deal with them ever again. Plus, better chances for the others too! :)

End of event update: After an amazing 3 weeks, the celebration has finally come to an end. I want to thank everyone for participating in my humble celebration, especially those who are generous enough to contribute with some of their own! I want you guys to know that I'm eternally grateful for all the kind wishes, witty comments and hilarious images and GIFs that you guys shared here with me. To the winners, allow me to congratulate you in advance! Apparently Lady Luck has chose you to be the winner for my giveaway. It'll take some time before I can finish delivering all the games but it will come for sure. To everyone else, it's time to move on. We play with luck on this site and luck can't always be on our side. I hope everyone enjoys the humble selection of gifts and hopefully I'll see you guys again in my next event! Cheers :)
As of the time of writing, I'm currently around ~$70 in real CV away from Level 7, so I figure what's the best way of celebrating the occasion other than by making crapload of giveaways for you folks! Hopefully after the event ends, I'll reach Level 7 (earlier, maybe?) and have a decent ratio for a change.
I honestly can't believe I've spent so much on this site.. and it's worth it, every single cent and seconds of it and I'm proud to say that SteamGifts has become kinda my second home on the internet. I stumbled upon SteamGifts a few years back, young and naive in my early years of using Steam, looking for free games. Now, what do you know, I've met some pretty amazing people here (in fact, the best ones are all from SG!), learned new stuff, won fantastic games and I guess the most important one is that the site actually taught me that giving is way better than receiving. Back then, I'd laugh at the idea of spending actual money to give something to random strangers on the internet. Now, I actually enjoyed making giveaways and more so doing it just because and not just for the CV in it's entirety. Hopefully I can continue doing more and contribute as much as I can to the community before I eventually have to withdraw due to life commitments.
Phew.. Now that we've passed the sappy part of the thread, let's head on to the main course, shall we? :D
Originally I planned on doing just around 30 or 40 giveaways but since I've managed to amass quite an amount of keys, more than I expected, I figure why not do more? So, the result is that I've made around 60+ giveaways with levels ranging from 1 to 10, and I'm planning to add more during the coming weeks. Also, if you're feeling generous, you're more than welcome to contribute to the thread! In April, we had the pleasure of riding LostSoul's yet another mouse-busting train, Cowmoobaby's massive Milestones Giveaways thread, Doctorofjournalism's Wishlist Giveaways event, Keo's mind-blowing Berlin Train (which I haven't even managed to cover half of them...), Nitrogsen's insane weekend trains, Waxlor's Milestone Train and bunch of others that I might've missed. Now, let's make this thread a solid milestone for May! You're of course free to set whatever the rules and restrictions as you please but it would be great if you could make it end on the 20th of May, as of all of my other giveaways so that they can all finished up more or less at the same time.
