v8.4.0 is being rolled out.
Userscript Users
If you're a userscript user, it will not auto update, because the script is no longer located in the repository. Now the script will be handled by releases, so you'll have to go here and click on userscript.user.js to force an update. Also, I think you'll have to do this every time there's an update, because it looks like Tampermonkey isn't able to detect an update by using the userscript.meta.js file from the release.

My extension updated to 8.5.0 and now completely disappeared from SG. It is showing as active in Firefox Add-Ons, but not working in SG. I tried deactivating and then activating it again. Anything else I can do? Trying to avoid reinstalling it.

Sorry, looks like Firefox no longer allows downgrading addons through the regular interface. You have to remove your current version and add the new one, losing all your data in the process. I wasn't aware of this, and I apologise for recommending this step.
But based on this discussion (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3050581), it looks like you can actually downgrade by inspecting the "Remove" button instead of clicking it and pasting its URL in the address bar.

Came here to report this as well. I saw there was an update, so updated (I have it set to manual update) and now it's like the extension is not installed although it appears active in the add-ons page of Firefox.

can't install older versions.....i mean i can, but they either dissappear in half a second after installing or just plain update to new version...wich defeats the point of installing the older version......... will wait for patch...
on a side note i tried using the script version, but it was more of the same....to be fair i tried that before coming here for another option so i didn't knew about the "Install older versions" being possible.........

Mine didnt downgrade either at first. Here is what I did.
- Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/esgst/versions/ Right click on remove button for 8.4.0 and choose "save link as".
- Go to ESGST addon settings and remove auto update.
- Shut down firefox, start again and drag in the .xpi file in order to install the older version.

Thanks a lot for your answer. Yes, I searched for a possibility to see this information before reviewing the GA (which especially in trains is kind of difficult). So I asked the community about a possibility to do so and got the recommendation to suggest it as a further ESGST feature, which I hereby did.
It wasn't until later, that somebody actually showed me a way to see it thanks to the "game infos".
Still I think it all is a little bit hidden too much, so if it would be possible, I still think it would be great to have an option, to clearly see the Points (or the worth) of a GA during creation (and not only while chosing it from the dropdown menu.
Anyways, really just take it as a suggestion. If it's not possible or too much trouble, then don't bother, your tool is already awesome! 😁👍😎
Or maybe I'm still missing a obvious possibility, in which case I would be more than happy to have it shown to me 😄

Sorting in discussions is broken. Sort button disappears when clicking and nothing happens.
And have a question how long transfering bookmarks is suppose to take? Seems like nothing really happens. It transfered two bookmarks in over 5 minutes and I had probably no more then 10 total.

If you don't want to see the popup all the time you can delete the discussion highlights data, but then you will have to book mark every thing manually.

Every Single Page loads this popup about "would you like to transfer bookmarked discussions etc etc" and if I click "transfer" it never finishes. I even turned bookmarks off in ESGST settings (3.2.15) and it still happens. Please fix when you can! I don't even care anymore about prior bookmarks I had.

I did something wrong, looks like it deleted your bookmarks. Sorry about that. I'll try to fix it soon, you will still be able to transfer them if you have a backup, by restoring them back again.
I cancelled the Chrome deployment so Chrome users aren't affected (Chrome deployment takes longer).

Ok, v8.5.5 pushed and now it's fully fixed. I tested it myself to make sure. If you have a backup, select only the "Discussion Highlighter" option in the restore menu and restore that data. You'll get the popup again.

Discussion sort seems to work since 8.5.4.
About discussion highlighter. It was nice before when it was more clearly highlighted with a color and was moved to top of the page. Was this feature completely removed with the changes after SG implemented bookmarks and ESGST used that instead?

I'm using the dark grey theme and simplified version for game categories but on the picture you can see the symbols under the game name. In this case RCV for reduced CV, the green cards for trading cards and "i 0 $ 1.35" as giveaway info.

i tried enabling the same options as you and trading cards appeared for me. the other 2 most likely wont appear for me because of permissions.
the settings i used was "hidden", "owned" and "wishlisted". when viewing a wishlisted game i dont see anything (except the trading card one that i tried out now)

For wishlisted you need to give permissions for at least "://.api.steampowered.com/" and "://.store.steampowered.com/". Since ESGST shows some categories for you I believe it might be more of a sync problem. Does owned or hidden work for you? You should also check if "run it here" is enabled and set to everywhere for wishlisted

when i first enabled these options i got an error message when trying to save telling me about those permissions. though i cant remember if it said "or" or "and"... i thought it said "or".
so i enabled "://.store.steampowered.com/".
the error message didnt appear anymore and syncing worked:

Hmm, I don't understand this. rafaelgssa.com permission should have nothing to do with owned / wishlisted / ignored sync. WIth store.steampowered.com permission you have to be logged in on Steam and with api.steampowered.com permission you have to provide API key. It was probably a fluke or something.

I get redirected to a calendar picture of friday the 13th at the moment I either click on the messages button or the preview from ESGST loads up
After blocking the site, I can see normally the messages opening in the preview, but can't go in the messages by clicking on the button. It reloads the main page.

Dang it... ESGST 8.5.5 just stopped loading in Firefox Mobile (Android). Looking at my Play Store history, it doesn't look like Firefox has updated today, but ESGST was working a few hours ago, and is not loading on SteamGifts now. The extension still shows up in my extensions list and is not disabled.
[Edit: I cleaned up some temporary files and rebooted my tablet. Now it's working fine! I don't know what the problem was, and whether it was with Android, Firefox, or ESGST, but it's fixed now!]

It's not working at all. No ESGST icon on the menu bar, no ESGST functions working. There's no "green circle on top" in Firefox Android. Firefox uses a blue line at the top for pages that are still loading, and it completes successfully, but ESGST doesn't load.

Interesting... I just ran CCleaner, which killed 600MB of "hidden cache," and rebooted my tablet. Now ESGST is working just fine. Something got temporarily broken in Firefox, I guess.

I've had similar experience very rarely on desktop. It saves some of the info on the browser, and it bugs out, and can't load properly. Since I've setup to clear everything once I close firefox, closing it on desktop fixes for me. Similarly for you, clearing the cache fixes it. I was going to recommend you doing that, forcing close firefox and restarting the phone. Glad to hear you fixed it.

Edit 2: I realized my suggestion was basically already possible.
But I do have some issues to report. (I'm on 8.5.5 Chrome extension)
1) I have endless scrolling enabled, but disabled for giveaway extraction. Giveaway extraction comes up as endless scrolling anyway.
There doesn't seem to be a way to actually disable endless scrolling for giveaway extraction, if you have endless scrolling enabled at all. I do have extraction pop up in a new tab, if that makes a difference.
To be more clear, when I used to be on Firefox giveaway extraction would stop every 50 giveaways. It wouldn't continue to extract more until you scrolled down to the last giveaway extracted. What it's doing now, on Chrome, is continuing to extract endlessly without pausing after every 50 giveaways. Not pausing after every 50 giveaways is the behavior I'm trying to change. I want it to pause after every 50, because that seems much more reliable. I don't know if endless scrolling is actually the setting that affects that.
This also resulted in me seeing bug 2.
2) Extracting the gigantic community train only could extract so much before it stopped (there was just blackness at the bottom of the page, after a large amount of giveaways, but before all giveaways had been extracted.
I don't know if that's a Chrome issue or there's just some limit where there's too many giveaways to be able to do the whole extraction. I can't get endless scrolling to turn off for giveaway extraction, so it could also be the endless scrolling that's the cause.
Also, I'm sure I've thanked you before for making ESGST, but you probably don't get enough thanks for all the work you put in so I'm saying it again. Thanks 😁
ESGST is hands down the single best script/addon for Steamgifts and it wouldn't be so without all the massive dedication you've put in.

Is there a way to bulk add hidden games by importing a previously exported steamgifts-hidden-games.txt file? I accidentally sections of my >10k list and copying it all to the provided text field hides the "add" button waaay out of view.

I tried that and it didn't help. This is not a comment field it's the text field for the hidden games manager. It just expands to contents instead of providing a scroll bar.

I am not seeing this in chrome or firefox, that text area should be limited to 150px anything past is providing a scroll bar for me.

I have an issue with the comment history being stuck in endless loading apparently because of deleted giveaways which are not accessible anymore. Is there any other workaround than manually deleting said comments from the backup Json file?
Edit: Would be nice if inaccessible comments would be automatically skipped while loading ;)

I don't know if it's already possible, but there's some way to get statistics about all the entered giveaway? A table or something, with information about how many GAs entered for some game and stuff like that.

Entry Tracker shows you what giveaways you have entered and when, Entered Game Highlighter shows you how many giveaways you have entered for a game.

Yes, I know about both options, they are activated. But the thing is: It only works for GAs entered after the option is enabled. The [In some cases LONG] history of entered GAs doesn't count.
Besides, if that's a lot of work for something quite useless, no problem.

Enhanced SteamGifts & SteamTrades (ESGST)
An extension / userscript that adds some cool features to SteamGifts and SteamTrades.

Installation
There are two different ways to use ESGST: extension or userscript. You can choose which one you want to use, but the extension is a lot faster and has a better peformance than the userscript, so I recommend it, although there is no major difference between them, except for a few options that are only available in the extension because of limitations in the userscript.
Option 1 - Extension
It should be possible to install the extension in any Chromium-based browser from the Chrome store (such as Opera, Vivaldi, etc...), any Firefox-based browser from the Firefox store (such as Waterfox, etc...), and any browser that uses the Phoebus system from the Pale Moon store (such as Basilik, etc...).
You can also use the extension on Android through Firefox for Android, but some features might not work or not be optimized enough for mobile.
Option 2 - Userscript
To install the userscript, you must install Violentmonkey, Tampermonkey, Greasemonkey or some other userscript manager first. Then click here and you should be prompted to install it. I recommend Violentmonkey or Tampermonkey, because the userscript uses the GM_addValueChangeListener API to communicate changes in the storage between tabs, and that API is not available on Greasemonkey, so a polyfill is used for Greasemonkey, which is not very effective and can affect the performance.
You can also use the userscript on Android through Firefox with Violentmonkey or USI, but some features might not work or not be optimized enough for mobile.
Beta Versions
The latest beta version for both the extension and the userscript is always available in the latest pre-release in the releases page.
