OK, I think I found the right book. BTW, great puzzle. But I'm not sure about it since GoogleBooks doesn't let me see some pages.
But then... I have a question: is it possible to solve this riddle for non-English speaking person? I'm pretty good at some easy chatting but when it comes to some book terminology or smth less known I might fail, so I'd like to know if it's worth trying.

There should be a version that you can view in whole. When I search for books I have the search option "complete size" or similar at the left, this give you the whole book.
No difficult words are used in this, my own English is at a very basic level.

Sometimes I'm down for things like this, but I saw this and though, "fuck this shit, I'm just going to buy the game."
And I did.

Be sure to post the solution, or at least the key steps, after it's over. :-) I've made some interesting observations about the code, but since my google-books-fu is failing me, I have nothing to start from. But I'd like to learn if I was on the right track. :-)

The key seems to have been the biggest trouble. J.V stands for Jules Verne. He wrote "In Search of the Castaways" or "Captain Grant's Children" in 1867. Many focused too much on Grant and searched for his texts. Pag an el is also a clue, Paganel is one of the characters in the book.
The second part is a common cipher. "p78 r1 w7" is page 78, row 1 and word 7 that is Paganel. To get the words in the correct order you have to arrange them so that you can read page, row and word in all columns. (I made a little grammatical error in the last part)
p78 r1 w7 Paganel

The code used for bachelor is p513r12w12 (5+13+12+12=42 the answer to everything)
A total of 14 people solved it. There will be no second part (saving that for another giveaway in the future) just a normal randomize to get the winner. I will do these things on Sunday evening as I am a bit busy this weekend.

Good puzzle, had me stumped the whole way through. I like the Hitchhikers reference.
Now I just don't see the relation to Grant in the puzzle.

(Ah. When and if I decide to do another puzzle giveaway, I'll do my best to make it at least a bit abnormal. ;-))

I wonder is this normal enough.

Treasure Hunt
I first intended this to be for Skyrim, but since many (some) people have it already, the price will be one of your own choice (<50€ to be kind to my wallet). This is the first part of two. I allow you to discuss the key but don't help others too much, it lowers your own possibilities.
So, break this. Deadline is Friday at 20:00 GMT .
