From now on you will get VAC warnings and disconnects while playing VAC games if you run famous idling software. It may not VAC ban you, but can render game unplayable for some time. Idle carefully!

There are a number of common software conflicts that can cause this error. If you are running any of the following software, please disable it while playing:

  • CCleaner
  • Powershell
  • Sandboxie
  • Cheat Engine
  • IObit Start Menu 8
  • Process Hacker
  • DLL Injectors
  • Hypervisors
  • Steam Idlers

EDIT: From Steam Support:

We don't condone or recommend running Steam Idling services for any reason.

Do you even idle, bro?

h. Idle what? Never heard of it and I play all my games by myself. I have a lot of free time. ಠ_ಠ
6. I don't play games. I just idle them. It's a hobby of mine, don't judge me. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
6. Thanks for news. I will make sure to turn off idlers while playing CSGO \ (•◡•) /
M. haha you noob, you should idle cards on virtual machine ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
a. Where is the hidden giveaway? I don't care about this thread and just want free games. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

Can you not just simply make a text file to fake running the game>Then still play a VAC game and be all voided of any chance of a VAC?I mean surely they do not VAC for running more than one game?

Something like this...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9iCuj52viA

Only use a game that has a launcher since a launcher takes little effort to run in the background.

A few days ago I got kicked out of a CSGO game for the first time ever with the VAC message, I have been idling for more than a year on this account without problems, so now it kind of makes sense. Verified the game cache, logged in, no problems. So now I every time I am done with idling, I just verify it again, fix 1 file (always just 1), and play.

So if I idle other accounts while playing a game like CSGO, I may fall vac? , If idleo games like the CSGO, I may fall vac? And now the idle will only be to play afk or to games that do not have VAC? , Pd: does it not matter if the ASF disconnects you account and end idle to play ? sorry of google traduccion

Well, I doubt that many people are playing something on steam while idling so I guess the majority of farmers are safe

Yeah but you see that it can detect CCleaner and VAC ban you for no fucking reason O.o
So someone who doesn't see the post can get a ban and VAC bans are always shown on your profile, so people using lets say CCleaner forgetting to turn it off get marked as cheaters..

You won't get Vac banned for using CCleaner and anyone who's says it's happened too them are plain lying and used cheats. CCleaner clears registry etc etc etc when doing so it can remove information which is stored by a Vac enabled game. So when you get kicked it's because some information is missing which Vac needs to continue working without the information it has no choice but to remove you from the game as a precuation and as so you'll get the "An issue with your computer is blocking the VAC system" error. The only time you could possibly get a Vac ban for using CCleaner is while running it while playing a Vac enabled game which is just plain stupid in the first place.

Since when is kicking someone from a server equal a game ban?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They ain't, vac will disconnect (kick) you if something is stopping it from doing what it's there to do. If it can't scan ya PC because of something it'll disconnect (kick) you from the server until the problem is sorted. You will get the "An issue with your computer is blocking the VAC system" error appear when this happens and it'll direct you to the link in OP has provided in order for you to try and fix the problem.

I don't play any VAC games I'm aware of, but why can't these bums, in an official "support guide" explain the premise to VAC exactly, before getting bitch-branded for all eternity (or 7 years apparently) - highly doubt idling or most of those listed programs would do shit until you're connecting to a match/game that is "monitored by VAC" - or are there games as stupified, where you just start them and VAC's already happily branding? In other words I'd doubt it does VACK you for idling or most of those listed applications until you are being monitored by VAC (match started/???).

This just disconnects them from an online server, not flags them with a VAC ban… Actually reading the linked article would help.

You sure about that? That's what i thought first, before i googled "Disconnected by VAC" and saw mostly bitch-branded users
whining about their nice new branding. *

It strikes them with a warning. Even the article tells you that you just have to close down programs and reverify the game to play again.
What it doesn't state is if the warning accumulates or just kicks them every time the conditions are met. Knowing the laziness of Valve, they may have a three-strike system on it.

Also, most VAC banned players state they never saw a warning or only once, and of course they never cheated. In some cases, when it is not a Valve game, some devs like to post logs showing that they did. It is funny. :)
VAC is flawed and it is easy to get kicked from servers, but in the past few years, actual bans that were unjust are rare enough to be unheard of.

Sounds reasonable. 👌 Then it might be all good
i guess unless ... there's a surprise somehow.

What talgaby says is correct, you don't get Vac banned but just disconnected from game servers as a precaution as Vac can't do it's job as something is blocking it from working which could be a few things.

I get that, what i don't get and whats relevant to me, is when you get bitch branded for all eternity which apparently isn't as clear.
(Except strongly assuming that starting a VAC protected game shouldn't trigger it, connecting to a match however might).

You'll never get branded by Vac if you never run any programs while on a Vac enabled server. You could say leave CCleaner open while playing on a Vac enabled server and have no problems but run a scan with it while playing and I'd say that you'd be pushing ya luck.

People who use SAM or other programs like it often get Vac banned because they leave it running while they enter a Vac enabled server because of how a program like SAM works, it hooks into the game which Vac can certainly pick up and does quite a lot and flag as a cheat being used.

You should never ever use third party programs while entering a vac enabled game, infact to be totally sure if you use something like SAM then reboot ya PC before going to a Vac enable server. I reboot my PC once I've finished idling just so that it clears my memory etc.

That's not what i asked. I thought VAC signature scan the whole memory but it appears it looks for processes that has open handles of games that is protected by VAC and scans it.

Idlers make it look to Steam like you're playing games, so you get cards.
