Should we treat massively discounted expensive software as a free game?
What about the ppl who give dev keys
How about the traders who get infinite CV from profitz
Comment has been collapsed.
Personally I don't care if the software gets set to 0 or reduced or whatever, for my part I just gave it away because I had no need for it and maybe someone else would have. For me it seems like that for some people (not pointing any fingers, don't get me wrong) there are other issues more relevant here than mere CV farming :x... and if people want this site run otherwise, they can easily open up their own version of SG (I know, chliché knockout argument, but flip the coin and you see the same ;P) - in a few weeks Clickteam Fusion will be nothing more than a vague memory and all will be back to normal imo.
The same is it with how contributive people are to this site by either giving away games, trading or just stalking the forums - who cares and why should anyone have the right to dictate what or what not they have to do? There are already e.g. group-only GAs for your satisfaction.
Anyway, just my 2 cents and only an excuse to post this awesome and more than fitting meme :P...
Btw - just think of Greenlight, for fucks sake - what havoc will create bundling such software there xD!?

"just think of Greenlight, for fucks sake - what havoc will create bundling such software there xD"
It'll do nothing.
After RPGMaker, Unity, UE4, CryEngine, GameGuru and Game Maker it's just one more engine that's available for cheap/free to churn out lazy asset flips with.
The pile is already big enough that throwing on one more isn't going to make a real difference.

calendarized. one month without and one month with. or even just one switch and back. to see how it works. i bet the sky would not fall down.

Does anyone have numbers for Users per level before HB Gamemaker / Clickteam bundles?
Stats before September 6 will work even anything before September 15 should work I guess because of 2 weeks wait on steam keys for gamemaker.
I just want to see the change in numbers.

with less fuzzy dates on the fist 2 I could make a chat.... but just looking at the numbers over the past year it looks like a basic steady rise in each of the levels to me.

+41 for level 7
+33 for level 8 (+12%)
+20 for level 9 (+10.1%)
+11 for level 10 (+7.86%.)
so you mean 10% - 12% increase in the high levels in less than 2 months is normal? There wasn't even any major steam sale or anything during that time.
Actually gotta wait a bit more (like 15 days) to see the final results of that Clickteam bundle and Sony Vegas price glitch..
Meanwhile, 1480 Clickteam giveaways were created in the last 3 days... Multiple copies are not even included in that number.

Yes , I am sure some people will drop in level once staff adjust for the Clickteam bundle and other things recently new to bundles if they have not already , I know that it takes them some time.
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe you could put same months of year for 2015 as well for comparison... that would give more material to think about...
How many Sony Vegas were giveawayed ?
Comment has been collapsed.
95 copies were given away so far in a day
I don't have the data for that. As I linked it, those numbers are coming from cg's own post from January 2015, there was no stats part of the site back then. I think I'll try to track monthly data from now on.

Waouh... 399$ off real CV ^^.
He probably got specific friends, or actually, all indonesians and others are massively gifting Vegas for their region. Since this the only game he won, as well.

Vegas is considered as non-bundled ! I guess it needs a quick fix...

Possibly but not necessarily. So I wouldn't say so.

This site has been through far, far worse in the past. Just because some people may get a few more brownie points this time than usual, you propose the nuclear option. Talk about an overreaction.

In times of SGv1, there was no "the more of A you give, the less CV A gives"..
So, if this were SGv1, for giving away 100 copies of this $1 bundle, someone would get nearly $2000 CV (now after 5th copy they get less CV, with 50th copy dropping it down to 0).

Well, that was fast. :^)
So it's ok to buy the bundle now? I don't see anything of my liking in the low tier.
Comment has been collapsed.
Wile the flood is a little frustrating, and I do wish that some people could hold on to their codes for a little wile( and I am sure a bunch will) , being able to give away software like this is good for a lot of people - until I was gifted the bundle I was entering for it, I am in a rather crap situation where I just don't have that $1, as I am sure a lot of people here are. I think the bundle list and CV system will cover this as it is not free - and even if someone spends just $1 that is still kind of them to do so.
Comment has been collapsed.
Won't make a difference to anyone whose already given it away. It would just prevent further giveaways.
Comment has been collapsed.
That is balanced with the fact that other people agree on winning this game, adding CV to their won gifts, adding a high value game to their steam library. If they feel cheated on CV, they can just buy it for themselves instead.
There is already a max CV restriction, maybe you want to lower it more ?
Comment has been collapsed.
Altohugh i didnt calculated it i believe any HB monthly gives better cv to spent money then that. as many sale games. so start banning them too? where do we stop then? why not putting all bundle games and sale games in the free list. ofc we need to do that with any no sale games in toher regions cheaper then us too then. maybe best we put EVERYTHING in there. ¯\ (ツ) /¯

I give because I want to give, I don't care about my CV, I don't care what other people think, if I make 1 person happy by giving anything, that's what makes me happy too. Every winner TY makes me smile. And if other people don't have more money to give away expensive games or they are doing this with the intent to increase their CV, I don't care, what counts is that they give anything, the idea of giving is what matters in this site.
Comment has been collapsed.
I really don't think it matters. I'm running a giveaway for it now not because I care about the CV, but because I don't want it and maybe someone on here does. The CV is just an added bonus, I don't think I'm exploiting the system, I'm not giving away a free game.

No problem. :) 83 here and I would also be happy to return the favor.
Comment has been collapsed.
You know, 2 of those 83 are from the last few days. In the last few days I created 8 GAs, dropped a few keys in the forums and took part in the Clickteam Fusion CV debate. Not one person posted a comment saying "you're full of shit, I'm blacklisting you" or something.
Being a coward on the Internet really is an all-time low.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's right. And if I'm not mistaken the person who blacklisted you can enter GA that you created. It happened to me once. I found out a guy blacklisted me when I couldn't enter his GA. However he entered to my GA. What an a**hole! I added him to my blacklist ofcourse, and I'd reroll if he won it. Some people are so weird. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Of course they can enter your GAs, since they're not on your blacklist. Although honestly, I often wouldn't notice that I am entering a GA by someone on my (tiny) blacklist. But if I did notice, I would be twice as happy to win their game! :D
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm blacklisting you because I don't like that in the last year you did giveaways only for a closed group/s.
A tip, if someone join one of your GAs and he has you blacklisted, most likely support will reject your re-roll petition.
FAQ.
If the user entered one of your giveaways prior to being blacklisted, their entry still remains valid.
Feel free to blacklist me.

I'm blacklisting you because I don't like your way of thinking (didn't saw your other posts, but those 3 are enough).
If someone didn't said why blacklisted you it doesn't make him coward, maybe he/she doesn't wanted you to feel bad.
Blacklist me ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, I still "feel bad" when my blacklist counter goes up, plus I don't know why and I can't retaliate (which I don't think I'll do in this case). If I am blacklisted because of my ratio ok, but if it's because of my "way of thinking" (it must be really bad if it warrants a blacklist add), I would expect a harsh reply to one of my posts calling me an idiot or at least entitled or SJW something. :D

I'm blacklisting you because I don't like that in the last 5 months you did giveaways only for a closed group/s (only 2 GAs public, but both region restricted) and also you are "crying" for being blacklisted, you shouldn't care about it, isn't a big deal.
Feel free to blacklist me.

Nope. If it wasn't free then it shouldn't be treated as free.

The whole point of having the bundle list is to prevent people from exploiting cheap sales to gain CV. If a game makes the bundle list, either by being on a bundle, or by being very heavily discounted, it's added to the bundle list. But when software like clickteam that costs $100 is one of six games on a $1 bundle, it's still worth $15 CV. That's a huge boost, far greater than the 95% discount that qualifies a game for the bundle list.
Hence, we've been flooded with Clickteam giveaways. I severely doubt that that many people actually want the software, and it's wreaking havoc on the points system.
Should such blatant CV farming exploits be prohibited?
