Monaco Grand Prix

Yes, another prediction event. :)

How it works

Predicting the winner would be much too easy in a field of twenty where only four drivers will likely contest most wins. To make things more interesting you will have to predict the top three finishers in the correct order and do so before the start of the qualifying session on Saturday.

Once the season has finished I will create a special winner's event for everyone who correctly predicted a race giving them a shot at some nice games.

Race Preview

The first practice sessions are behind us and Mercedes are at P8 and P10; are they playing tricks?

Overtaking is almost impossible this season with all the changes having made the cars so much wider; qualifying will be even more important than normal.

Here's hoping Max will finally finish a Monaco Grand Prix!

Great idea, I'm only seeing this now - is there a current table of winners/results somewhere :) ?

Gonna risk it a bit, even though a reverse 2-1 looks more likely after FP1/2... time for Kimi to finally get a win though! The long base of the Mercedes will not do it any favors I'm afraid, even though Hamilton set the fastest lap at Monaco ever in FP1. I wouldn't be surprised if both miss out on the podium. Toro Rosso have been looking very good all weekend, and Max can always squeeze into that top 3, if he can avoid crashing (already did in FP2).

There's no table of results I'm afraid; at a guess I would say there are a few people with more than one correct prediction. Should you wish to check you'd have to search the forum for [Formula One] and look at all the races so far.

Gonna wait until after practice 3 again to predict. I don't trust Mercedes' practice 2 blip one bit... ;)

Funny, I've never been a F1 fan, but somehow today at work while browsing reddit I ended up researching the Mocano Grand Prix. I guess it started with news about Alonso's time (5th) at Indy, then it went to Brazilians who raced at Indy, then Emerson Fittipaldi, then Senna, then Monaco (biggest winner at Mocano, wooo) and got back at F1.

Anyway just a concidence, I didn't even knew Mocano Grand Prix was about to happen. I guess I got more interested about it now tho. :D

Can't predict anything tho. :P

But thanks for the GA. :)

Conclusions from quali:

  1. Red Bull were sandbagging during practice. :P Kidding! Monaco is better suited to them since the engine power deficit of the Renault doesn't matter as much here.
  2. Hamilton was lost at sea this weekend. Just like Baku 2016.
  3. ATTABOY KIMI! First pole in 128 races.

Driver of the day: Stoffel Vandoorne, for single-handedly putting both McLarens into Q3 and knocking Hamilton out, all in the span of a few corners ;)

It sure was an interesting qualifying session. A 1 - 2 finish for Ferrari seems likely tomorrow.
