Kimi did it, finally! Hopefully he can reap the rewards tomorrow, it would be amazing to see him claim his second victory in Monaco after 12 years. His pole lap was a stunner, he absolutely nailed the pool section. It looked like he lost a tiny bit of time at the exit of Rascasse and didn't get a clean exit. Top 3 was very, very close today.

Again no one with the correct prediction. Who knew Mercedes were going to struggle?
Ferrari 1-2, first win since 2001, and Vettel actually pulled off the overcut on teammate Kimi. Hard not to feel that Ferrari are favouring Seb for the title now. At least Kimi still has a podium, don't think he has had one for a while literally forgot about the Russian podium I'm such a dunderhead.
Ricciardo likewise overcut Bottas and teammate Max, Hamilton did a decent recovery to 7th.
Incredibly scary crash between Wehrlein and Button with the former's car being flipped on its side, thankfully he radioed in to say he was okay and could walk away - after the car got flipped back onto the track!
Villain of the day: Fucking Perez. Diving down the inside of Vandoorne leaving Stoffel no room to turn in (or I'm probably making him the scapegoat for that) - and then lunging down the inside of Kvyat and putting him out of the race (far less disputable). I'm glad his point scoring streak got ended as a result. Bloody stupid.
ETA: Nico Rosberg does the interviews! Pity no Lewis on the podium...plus, this is...an awkward setup...the drivers have to make their way down to the track...Kimi's disappointment was INCREDIBLY evident on the podium and during the interview...

Finally home so I can type this out. :)
This race had close the zero overtakings on the track... They so need to go back to narrower cars and change a lot of other rules as well.
That crash was super scary and it took me litteral seconds before I actually saw the car! They way it was on its side like that at first made me just glance along mistaking it for part of the tyre wall. Really glad Wehrlein was ok, took a while before they were able to confirm that. Not a great return for Button apart from his qualifying.
Someone on Dutch tv joked that Sauber should put advertising on the bottom of their cars with one being on the side and the other one being craned away rounds later.
I missed the podium and interviews but heard about his disappointment being very clear to see.
The one good thing to take away from this weekend is that the top two teams seem to be closer so it could be an exciting season. I'm really hoping Red Bull can pull some miracle improvement from somewhere before the end of the season.

I can understand Kimi being so upset, and I really hoped he would've clinched the victory after such a successful weekend. But to be fair, after Kimi pitted Seb did a superb job lapping several tenths quicker compared to their pace earlier in the first stint. He told he was surprised himself that he could extract that pace from a 30-lap old set. Ricciardo managed to switch on the tires as well.
Yeah, I wouldn't blame Perez for the Vandoorne incident. He managed to claim the inside line and left sufficient room. Unfortunately for Vandoorne he ended up off the racing line with cold tires after SC, so the car just slided to the wall. No excuses for Perez for that banzai move against Kvyat though, that was a bad one.
The run for the championship is looking even more exciting after this weekend. I still consider Mercedes having a slight edge on 'power tracks', but both Vettel and Ferrari have a decent points gap in the standings.

Monaco Grand Prix
Yes, another prediction event. :)
How it works
Predicting the winner would be much too easy in a field of twenty where only four drivers will likely contest most wins. To make things more interesting you will have to predict the top three finishers in the correct order and do so before the start of the qualifying session on Saturday.
Once the season has finished I will create a special winner's event for everyone who correctly predicted a race giving them a shot at some nice games.
Race Preview
The first practice sessions are behind us and Mercedes are at P8 and P10; are they playing tricks?
Overtaking is almost impossible this season with all the changes having made the cars so much wider; qualifying will be even more important than normal.
Here's hoping Max will finally finish a Monaco Grand Prix!
