Homemade Pizza or restaurant bought?
It might be worth checking your supermarket to see if they carry pizza dough. I know my store carries it in the Nutrition/Health food sections, in little wrapped bundles. But getting the yeast and making it yourself really isn't hard. Plus, guys love guns on a girl. :)

Well, one of the host families was originally from Italy, so towards the end of our trip, they made up a bunch of homemade pizzas. They were unlike any other pizzas I've had (less sweet, more salty and savory) and they were amazing with white wine. I don't remember if they even had tomato sauce at all.
How have you never been to Bayern? Germany's not a terribly large country. I would've figured that people there would've been to most of the states. Or at least go see München and Neuschwanstein.

It doesn't seem like Europeans quite embrace the idea of road trips the same way Americans do. I'm sure its just a normal result of the different population densities between European countries and the U.S., plus you typically have much better public transportation between cities.
When you get out of town, do you typically just leave the country entirely? Or do you not get out much?

I usually don't leave germany. I did that a few times, more often when I was younger, the last time I've been in france for a few days. I live in a small cozy village, no big town, so for work or to meet people I drive to other cities around here. Or use the train. Or city-taxi :))

Homemade pizza is the best pizza. And you made a pretty delicious looking one right there. Green peppers are probably my all time favorite :p

Hardly do any cooking anymore, but I used to cook a lot. Pretty proud that I can make most things from scratch - including bread! In general, homemade food always tastes better and is often cheaper then pre-made or takeaway. Plus, you can cook it to exactly your tastes and control exactly what goes in. Also, no food poisoning (that you don't give yourself), so bonus! ^_^ Anyways, Grats and welcome to the world of cooking and don't get discouraged if you have a culinary failure here and there.

I grew up in NY and I love NY style pizza. It's so much better than the fast food style pizza you can get from the other places you mentioned. I left NY a few years ago and the pizza that's available now just isn't the same so I started making my own. I don't have a pizza oven so I can't get it perfect, but it's much better than anything else I can get locally. I like to top it with pepperoni, black olives, banana peppers, and red onions.
I also make my own bagels. There's nothing like a hard NY bagel. I'll post some random links I pulled out of my favorites about making bagels below.
I can post my personal recipes and instructions that I use for pizza and bagels if you are interested. I have them in a pile written on little sticky notes, lol. I really need to get them typed into a file so I can save them.

This is the only picture I could find right now of one of my pizzas. This is probably from almost 2 years ago. The pizza is around 15". I make the crust a little thinner now and use less cheese.

Have you ever eaten a real bagel from a bakery? They are so good. Not those processed things you get in the grocery store that are more like bread in the shape of a bagel.

I think just about everything homemade, right out of the oven tastes great. I have never made anything that didn't taste better than store bought even if it didn't come out perfect. Even something as simple as french bread taste so much better when you make it at home.

Pizza is my favourite food because you can have it with literally anything, you can even have it for dessert with melted chocolate and some bananas and ice cream, god damn i love pizza, i love it so much, i can't decide on what to choose on your poll, because it's usually all good, homemade, restaurant, sometimes even the store-bought frozen ones (rarelly though), and yours looks so freaking good because bellpeppers and jalapeños are some of my favourite toppings. But enough about pizza, thank you for the giveaways.

you can basically substitute any vegetable like broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus etc for the potatoes.

yeah those were the first vegetables that came to my head and i normally hate those three but my wife threw some of them with some oil and other stuff in the oven and they ended up having a nice grilled taste just don't put too much oil because it will make them soggy :(

Not sure if you used all purpose flour that the recipe calls for, but if you continue making pizza you should try using bread flour. I use King Arthur, you can get it in places like Walmart.

Some other things I like to make are beef stew, vegetable soup, deviled eggs, and italian dressing made with olive oil. I like to make my own salad dressing to stay away from the GMO soybean oil and all the other preservatives and junk they put in it. It's easy to make and you don't even have to refrigerate it.

I make absurdly homemade pizza, it's a 2 to 3 day process where I even make the cheese. Everyone who has ever tried my pizza says it is the best pizza they have ever tried. A recommendation for your pizza, is to let the dough age overnight. You will want to put olive oil over it (not cooking spray), cover it in plastic wrap, and put it in the fridge. Slow aging it like that for 1 to 2 days will bring out a remarkable flavor. Another huge improvement, which is a bit more pricey, is to use fresh herbs in your sauce. If you have never cooked with fresh herbs, read up on it before trying to, some things change.
EDIT: More tips
For each pizza, add 1TSPB to 1.5 TSPB of vital wheat gluten to the flour, it will increase the protein and make a significantly better, fluffier bread. If you get a high enough protein content, you can even toss the dough! Also, you should invest in a pizza stone, its about $12 or so; it will also significantly improve the quality of your crust. To properly use a stone, you will want to put the stone in the oven, heat the oven to the highest possible temperature, once it is heated, wait for at least 30 minutes for the stone to warm up, then add the pizza. You can add it using either a pizza piel, or by carefully removing the stone, putting it on some cotton towels which are folded over a few times, and making the pizza on the stone. Be careful! The stone is incredibly hot! If you get liquid on the stone itself while it is hot, it will crack and possibly even explode. When you are done, turn off the oven and let the stone slowly cool in the oven, take it out the next day.

I've heard way too many stories of pizza stones breaking. I'm thinking about just getting a piece of steel instead. I think it would cook better on steel anyway.
There is this one, but 14" is too small. I would like to make it a 16" square or 17 if it will fit. I measured my oven once, but I don't remember how big it was.

I use a perforated pan now and I have an electric oven. What I do is only put the dough with sauce in and I put the pan on the bottom rack right above the heating element and I cook it for about 10 or 11 minutes. Then I take it out and put the cheese and toppings on and cook it in the middle of the oven for another 8 or 9 minutes till the top is done. This is the best way I have found to get the dough to cook correctly with the oven and pan I have now.
+1 on letting the dough rise overnight. Probably even better after 2 or 3 nights. I use to just let it rise for 2 hours and make it because I was too lazy to prepare the dough the day before or I didn't plan ahead to make it. Now I almost always let it rise overnight. I find the dough easier to work with when it's cold (not too cold or it doesn't stretch) and it also rises better. I haven't really noticed a taste difference, but the dough rises, cooks, and browns better. Maybe I could taste the difference if I made one the same day as I made the one from over night and tried them side by side.

Hey fellow gamers,
Dupetank(Tankmaster) here. So today I made Pizza. At home. By myself. I know scary right?
I've always bought pizza from the likes of Domino's, Pizza Hut, Little Ceasar's, and Papa John's. Never did I think that I could make one myself. Cause I mean, who can rival their deliciousness? Well today I learned. I can.
I woke up this morning with one thing on my mind. I'm hungry. And a small craving for pizza. I scraped through my wallet and managed to scrounge up $8. Not good enough. To feed me and my sheeplike(cause they can't do anything for themselves) brothers I would need at least 2-3 pizzas.
Then I thought. Wait. Maybe I can MAKE THE PIZZA'S!!!!!
This in itself is a novel method of thought amongst me and my brothers. So then I hit the web, skimming through websites, and Google pages looking how to go about making pizza. I managed to wrap my head around the general idea and ingredients. But the scary part was the oven. I've never in my life used an oven. Or even thought of it.
Of course it was always there. But we(I) always used it to store random things like pots and pans(hidden cases of beer).
The process was shaky and full of nervousness. My brothers hung around behind me, practically breathing on my neck, and occasionally looked over my shoulder to see how it was going along.
This was the result.
This result made me change my attitude about restaurant bought foods and homemade foods.
To be sure there shall be more homemade food than takeout at my place from now on.
SO my question to you guys(and some gals) is. Do you make stuff at home? Specifically, have you made pizza at home before? If so, how did it go? Also any other suggestions on what I should take on next?
EDIT: How rude of me. I totally forgot to include the giveaways!!!!
Well, better late then never......

I used a 16" Pan from my local walmart(yeah yeah i know).
