After some ground-breaking new website features implemented by mandrill, BLAEO is accepting member applications again! :D

But instead of being invited to the Steam group directly, you will be given access to our website after applying in this thread. Just set up your profile there and be active if you want to, and we'll eventually invite you to the Steam group. Right now the Steam group is mainly used for syncs with SG and group giveaways on here (and reminder announcements for various things), so you're not missing much if you don't get invited right away ;) And just to clarify, the website is basically the group, the Steam group is pretty much just a bonus ;)

Thanks to this new feature, we can now proudly announce that there are no requirements to join (not that we really had any before), simply let us know you're interested here :)
Once you're in the Steam group though, you're only allowed to enter group giveaways if you've been active (we won't post our requirements/definition of "active" so people can't abuse that information).

So, in conclusion, post here to gain full access to the BLAEO website and then add mandrill to your whitelist :P
Please do not add group admins/mods or post to their Steam profiles to get an invite, you'll get added to the site much faster if you just reply in this thread
PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST TO JOIN THE GROUP WITHOUT HAVING BEEN ADDED TO THE WEBSITE! Request to be added to the website in this thread first!

If you don't know where to start on the site, read this guide, and/or this guide. Extra info on image formatting.
If you don't want to miss any announcements, subscribe to these group threads (works for everyone):

FAQ (under construction)

I just joined, and the site isn't showing achievements for my games. Help?
The site starts compiling everything starting with your first login, so if you just used it for the first time, just wait a few hours. Same with new achievements and game additions, just give it some time.

How do I post on the site?
Read this getting started guide, and/or this guide.

How do I get into the Steam group?
We add everyone who applies in this thread to the users of our website, meaning after you login there with your Steam account for the first time, you can use it as a regular member.
Steam changed how groups manage new members and we can no longer invite people we aren't already friends with. So after you're added to the website and have been using it for a while, request an invite to the Steam group if you want to join. We'll review your request and accept it if you have indeed been active on the site (for at least 10 days, but depending on frequency and extent of activity, might be several weeks until you get an invite).
PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST TO JOIN THE GROUP WITHOUT HAVING BEEN ADDED TO THE WEBSITE! Request to be added to the website in this thread first!

I applied in this post and didn't get invited to the Steam group.
See above.

What are the benefits of being in the Steam group?
You get to post on the forums and* join giveaways that are shared with the group here on SG! But remember that we're not a giveaway group and there aren't many running giveaways at any given time, so you're really not missing much if you're not in the Steam group.
*the forums are open to everyone now, no need to join the Steam group

Why did I get kicked from the Steam group?
There's really only one rule: Don't join group exclusive giveaways (i.e. not shared with any other groups or the whitelist) if you haven't been active on the site for a while. A "while" can be anything between 14 days and over a month, depending on your usual activity (e.g. members with huge monthly posts won't get kicked for joining a group exclusive GA 4 weeks after their last post, but someone with who usually posts short updates like "I finished this game, it was fine" every few days and hasn't posted in over 2 weeks might get the boot - this is examined on a case by case basis, any kinds of posts are fine, just be aware of this when you want to enter a group exclusive giveaway AND stay in the Steam group).

I got kicked out of the Steam group, can I still use the website?
Yes! You can use it just like before, nothing changes for you in that regard.

I left the Steam group. Does that affect site usage in any way?
No, but please let us know about it, especially if you don't want to get invited back into the Steam group, so we can make a note of it and don't spam you with invites when you're active on the site.

I found this in a different thread and it sounded extremely interesting since I can never make my mind up on what to play. Would it be possible to get an invite?

My backlog is something that I've been trying to tackle for years now but failed due to changing commitments every now and then. I would very much like to join the group as an extra motivation to do it but I can't promise to be always committed to the cause (I usually went back to Overwatch with my friends and now with Destiny 2 release is on the horizon...). How do you guys handle a member such as myself?

That's exactly why we have the site - be as active/inactive as you like, you can now use the site for forever (unless it disappears before forever is over)

Hi! I'd like to join, but I have a question first: although I only buy/enter GAs/ etc for games I'd like to play, I idle the ones with the cards first before I come around to play them. Is this an issue? Also, can I include games I haven't played from GOG?

Added to the site - it doesn't matter what you actually play or idle, you're the one who sets the statuses for the games, and they're really mainly for you to see how far you've come with your backlog etc. (so even if a game has playtime already, you can set it to "never played" if you've only idled it so far). The site doesn't support any other platforms besides Steam, afaik mainly because of different kinds of ways of how to get that information (idk, there's a discussion in our Steam forums, feel free to check that out)

Thank you!

Coincidentally, I decided yesterday to make a spreadsheet of my backlog across all platforms. It was a humbling experience.

I have way too many games that I haven't played due to having such an (relatively) enormous amount of them. I could use a proper incentive to play through my backlog and this looks absolutely perfect! Add to that that I am currently saving for a move to a new apartment and can't buy new games so all the more reason to do this. :) Would love to join, hope you'll have me. :)
I got here from following Tsukichild/Eprosasis link to their ABC challenge. (Apologies for applying to the Steam group first, I'm dumb.)

Why is the site member only? You can just make it public and count only the achievement of the members on the front page, and let everyone else use the site privately.

I don't understand what you mean by your second sentence, but to answer your question: The site started out as an extension of a Steam group, which was inspired by a thread on SG, that's why it's private in the first place. Since then it has grown considerably and were slowly working towards making it public (e.g. recently moved to a bigger server). I have no idea when the site will actually be open though, I think it's mainly up to our webmaster who might want to add some stuff to the site first (e.g. implement functionalities to follow or maybe tag people to keep it communal). Plus, one bonus of keeping it private and making everyone apply "in person" so far has been no trolling, hate speech, spamming of unrelated things etc. as far as I'm aware.

I was speaking without knowing how the site works (since I'm not part of the group, and I'm only interested in the site, not the group).

Just thinking out loud: Would it be possible to enable public access, but with only the features that allows the user to track their own stats? The rest of the social features would only be available to the group, so no one has to moderate public users outside the group. The only issue is the extra traffic to the site (which may or may not be welcomed depending on the funding).

Oh, you could've just said that, you can use the site now.

I have no idea if that's possible, it probably is, but then we're at a weird point of people randomly finding the site and adding our admin or just random active members on Steam to ask how to get access to other features (even if we put a FAQ on the site, no one reads those, as evidenced by this thread). OVerall I guess I don't see the point, since the site was conceived to track and share progress, even though you can of course just use it for tracking. If/when we open the site for "outsiders" it should be all of it , not just parts, imo.

We've discussed this from time to time; we (that is, the admin/mod team) all agree that we want to open the site and let people self register. That means that everyone could just drop by and start using the stats/categorizing features without applying for access. But what nelly means (I think) is that we still want to encourage everyone to participate in the community -- and when someone spontaneously decides they want to post/comment/discuss, there shouldn't be any barriers (i.e. asking for access to those features and waiting). But of course we still want to prevent spamming, trolling, hate speech or whatever, and preferab. ... it's not really a hard problem, we have lots of ideas how to go about it, but we (well, mostly I) haven't been working too hard on deciding on something and implementing it. Because I'm lazy and busy.
