Added the following text to point #4:
Because of changes to how gifts from the Steam store work, you should also limit the giveaway to regions that are within 10% of the price you're paying. You can look for the game on isthereanydeal.com and use the Compare Regions screen to check pricing in other areas. A safe and easy alternative is to limit the giveaway only to your own country, but then it won't be accessible to most users on this site.

I give it a try, and it did not work out well. A bit confusing to set up, the winner was someone a thousand of games already in their account, and then I could not even gift it to them in steam because the price is different where they live. Frustrating. Couldn't the website figure out whether the giveaway would work before creating it / allowing entries from invalid countries?

if you're giving away steam gifts, you need to set the giveaway to your own region or find which countries have the same price as yours (you can't gift to countries with prices higher than 10% of your steam store).
use steamdb to check prices https://steamdb.info
giving away keys is easier (bought from humble bundle, fanatic, etc.) and they usually tell you if they are restricted in certain countries. =3

Couldn't this website be checking steamdb.info ? Crawling through a database of numbers seems like a perfect job for a computer. They already have the region information about everyone's steam accounts.
Anyway, it sounds like more work, just like buying keys at those other website.

Nice guide,
Btw lvl 0-> to lvl1 costs 1 dollar minumum?
than if i giveaway less than 1$ game, it means i should giveaway again?
Comment has been collapsed.
If you check the Help/faq, it says level 0 is 0.00$ & level 1 is 0.01-25$.
So the minimum is 0.01$ to reach level 1. So even if you give away a game worth less than 1$ & it gives away reduced value, it should still be higher than 0.01$. Meaning you will be level 1 as long as game give any value.
Also it's a 6 years old post where last comment is 4 years ago. It would always be easier for you to make a quick thread to ask a question.

Thx, btw Is Giveawaying in whitelist, and group only etc still gives same contribute values?

Read the FAQ!

Yes, it will. But the giveaway must have 5 or more entries.
"If a giveaway is invite only, region restricted, or limited to a whitelist or Steam group, it will only add contributor value if it receives 5 or more entries. This is in place to prevent small groups of friends from attempting to cheat the contributor system, and to encourage users to expand the reach of their giveaways. The whitelist feature offers an easy way to target a larger audience, and you can combine it with small Steam groups to receive a greater number of giveaway entries if needed."

I heard about how this website works from other community and I just joined
Honestly, Im even more surprised So many ppl donated around giveawayed like more than 1000 dollars and you did like 10k dollars
I thought ppl buying a key from g2a and giveaways
But after some investigation
Just realized Those key games are lower valued or none valued.
It means There is no cheaper way and
i need to pay exact same cash to giveaway the game
So I cant belive you really donated this muCh lol
my account only valued 240$ and i think i spent a lot for video games
but you guys spend like 5k to 10k for giveaways wow? wtf lol

Nah, you don't need to spend the same ammount as you get calculated.
When you buy a bundle you pay much lesser for it as the worth of the games in it and in, nearly, all cases you get more cv here on sg as you paid.
Hover over my $10k and you see the cv, which is the real -and important- worth.
Besides that, welcome on sg and have fun here.

Honestly, makes a lot of sense that not that many users would join the site, the comment activity seems to have hit it's peak around 2016, and the giveaways around 2018. Most that wanted to join the site already did, and there are fewer and fewer new users that join as a result.

Around 1k accounts joined in the last 2 weeks. I would call that "more then enough".
The problem is that not all accounts are new users (or i wouldn't catch multiaccounters with 6 accounts...) and that 95% of the new accounts only leech, which don't help the site.
More and more of the friendly and generous people left the site or reduced their new GAs and activity by a lot.
And the fact that mostly only 1-2 mods done something in the ticket section and against the bad boys, which means it took up to years till something happened, were a speed up for the one or other to flee into, not public open, group(s) or to go into inactivity or leavin the site.

This is a part of the stuff that i write sometimes in public GAs, without level restriction,
https://www.steamgifts.com/stats/community/users
Scroll down to the bottom and look at the "per level" info and you see 970k are level 0, only around 165k have a level, 113k of them are level 1. So around 15% of the members from sg gave something and only 4% gave more as 5 games.

hmm, imagine if there would be a new giveaway type that makes it so that your number of entries is equal to your level. Wouldn't that be more rewarding to generous users in a low level giveaway?

More than 850,000 users on this site are Level 0. This means they haven't created a single giveaway yet (at least not for a game that wasn't already given away for free). Now, I highly recommend creating giveaways for the warm fuzzies, but even if that's not appealing enough there's another good reason. It provides access to many more giveaways and improves your odds of winning.
It may sound complex or expensive to reach Level 1, but don’t fret. I'm assuming here that you already have some games on Steam but that for whatever reason you can't afford a $1 bundle. All you need to do is this:
Good Luck!
Mini on-going event
If you're a Level 0 user
who can show you don't have market access (and therefore can't use the guide below) and if you never traded, let me know. I'll be happy to send you a spare key to create your first giveaway. Offer is limited to the first 5 users who reply to this post and meet the criteria (and are not rule breakers). Reply to this comment.Edit: As several people have mentioned below, the guide is only applicable to Steam users who have access to the market (basically anyone who spent $5 or more on Steam). If you don't have access to the market see this excellent post by Nokkenbuer about alternative solutions, such as getting games on TremorGames or using a prepaid card on Steam to get access to the market.
