I like the idea, but I don't see much future for it in its current form as a spreadsheet.
If I had to do something like this I would try with an access database, I don't know if google docs offers something like that.
If I knew how to do something like sgtools for this I'd do it, but I don't, yet.

only 66! looks like I'll have to make more giveaways to earn some more achievements. :O

I'll totally mess up my trades to obtain Negative Feedback, therefore, get the Negative Feedback achievements!
Uhhh... Yay?
Edit: Never traded in here :3

I like achievement hunting - but I really HATE bringing down my achievement completion percentage! ;_;
I've started on one too many games recently and it's dropped down to 69% ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
That being said - can you find a way to include a percentage as to how many you've completed? :D

The FAQ & Guide covers that. Basically, a "title" is what you can insert under your name, and should be the name of an achievement you have unlocked. I edited a bit to clarify.

That's a really good question. I don't know. I'd say that it's more fair if you get to keep an achievement if you once reached that specific stat or task.

+1
Description for both should state "maximum" somewhere.

You could also add "braggy" achievements, for example, reached the daily 300 giveaway limit. Lost a giveaway with under 5 entries. Won a giveaway with worse than 1:1000 odds. Or "Won a game from cg himself." Had to reroll same key more than once and had the tickets accepted by the moderators. Created a fully public giveaway for a 50/100+ USD non-bundle game/package and delivered it.
Also, for the incrementing ones, hidden over 10, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000… games. Released 5, 10, 25, 50, 100… keys to the public (level 0 public giveaways). Or the opposite, made 5, 10, 25, 50, 100… non-puzzle private giveaways.

Great idea.
Am I cheating if my Favorite Earned Title (achievement) is Titled?

You know you can remove unused lines? Might help with loading speed. There's no need to load 1085 lines right? ;)
Also, is there easy to way to check how many threads i created?
edit
Just noticed I'm in BS column lol

whats with indian symbol denoting "auspiciousness" in sheet 3? beginning of the end of our fun? Ah.. nvm, we have some asshole already. That was quick.

Copypaste memes, porn gif, swastika and Hitler. I don't think a public spreadsheet is going to work.

Its possible to redo it with ability to edit only own column, but would require too much work from creator imo.
Send every single person invite, then give him access to his column. And bad thing about google sheets is you need to get person e-mail to send him invite.. You can't just ask to comment somewhere and use it to give user some permissions...

Bump! That spreadsheet looks lovely. Thank you for taking the time to do this little experiment. Part of me wants it to succeeed and be awesome. Another part of me is skeptical. XD Either way, good luck!!!

That spreadsheet looks lovely
Looked*. It already fucked up.
Comment has been collapsed.
What?! As the last comment on the thread before whatever bad happened happened, I feel partially responsible for bumping the thread. :( I'm so sorry.
Edit: I just checked the restored version and it's different from the version I saw earlier. Huh. There weren't any names up when I saw it. just numbers (which confused me a tad). This version makes much more sense!
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep, restored + made a copy. This one is now useless.
I'm working on a new group dedicated for this. I'll send you an invite soon-ish.

First of all, thank you to all of you who made this experiment hold for that long without fucking it up. I am honestly surprised at how long it lasted (a total of 20 hours!) compared to what I had estimated. Since someone fucked it up now, I deleted the links leading to it (although you should still have access if you have the link handy, but that's irrelevant).
This was a pretty good test run, in the end. It proved to be enjoyable by the community, easy enough so that mostly everyone could work on it without messing it up involuntarily, and had overall decent functionality.
Now, you may think that the fun is over. Well, actually, I was thinking of creating a dedicated Steamgifts Achievement group (invite only, of course) from the very beginning. I didn't mention it because I wanted to see how well this would go in a test run without context. So yeah, I may be working on creating a group where only those of you who wish to join will be invited. From there, another spreadsheet will be available to group members to view and edit.
A new thread will be created for the recruitment. This one will stay open for a little while to let people have a read at this update, and also because this thread has giveaways.
Cheers.

Ah, so sad it ended thank God I was able to participate, as I have just come up with a number of suggestions for achievements. So, if you plan to go on with those, here they are:
Praise the Sun - whitelist cg
Holy crusade - blacklist that other user
Götterdämmerung - blacklist cg
Devil's advocate - whitelist that other user
Also: achievements for rerolling a giveaway, for double, triple and maybe more rerolls of the same giveaway.

The cg ones are good, but I won't create achievements which are defaming to other users. It would feel like calling out and also morally wrong in general. :P
Comment has been collapsed.
I had some doubts about the other user ones, but then I remembered there was a whole topic about blacklisting that particular user, so it's kind of the dark corners of SG lore now.
What about reroll achievements? How about achievements for creating other support tickets?
How about viral achievements?
Pestis Cosmofelina - receive a gift from a person with Pestis Cosmofelina
Quarantine - send a gift to a person with Pestis Cosmofelina

Well i was a little late sorry that you stopped working on this project but thanks for sharing the games
Good luck all and i hope the OP maybe will come up with another way to make this project work
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually, I've already created a group and invited users. Want in?
Comment has been collapsed.
Well i would join the group but i really would be of little help with the project over all since i know little of using spread sheets/coding and all that goes along with trying to do this so i am afraid i would be a 3rd wheel more then a helping hand.
I just like seeing people do this kind of thing its always nice to see people just doing stuff just because they can and it would be interesting to see how this turned out so i came to wish you well and all that good stuff :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, the group isn't about helping with the project. It's actually the same thing as it was, except it's a private group to keep the scum out. :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah well thanks i will accept your invite whenever Steam decides i am worthy to do so lol.I am not sure if it is my internet or Steam having issues or both. But whenever i try to do anything under my name within Steam Client or Browser it fails to load like it should and gets stuck at infinite loop of loading lol :)

DISCONTINUED
Update
This thread is no longer relevant as the spreadsheet is no longer publicly accessible after some people messed it up.
The project is still live however, and I will create a recruitment thread to invite interested users to a private group, where the new spreadsheet has been implemented. I have already invited the fifty-something users who where in the original spreadsheet. If you were in the "test run" and haven't received an invite to the group, please let me know and I will send you an invite. If you aren't a total stranger to me, you may also ask for an invite in the comments and I will invite you (providing you aren't a complete stranger who is barely active on Steamgifts. Just a precaution to ensure I don't invite the wrong people here).
As I said though, there WILL be a recruitment thread. Just not right now, as I am too tired to deal with invites at the moment. (since this morning, I spent something like five hours on this achievement thing non-stop. A guy deserves a break, no?) :P
The "official" recruitment thread will probably be live tomorrow.

Hello Steamgifts, I would like to introduce you to one of the silliest, pointless thing I may have done so far.
We all love achievements, right? We hunt, claim and hoard them, even though they rarely are ever rewarding (unless if you consider e-peen size a reward). And to be honest, although I am not an achievements hunter, I have always wanted achievements on Steamgifts. And so, without further delay, I present you...

Steamgifts Achievements - A Spreadsheet Experiment
Steamgifts Achievements is a project I have been considering for a while. Not having any coding knowledge to actually create an achievements userscript, I have been working on a second best idea. A spreadsheet where users are free to edit themselves and participate in an achievements hunt based around Steamgifts in general.
Now, I know what you’re thinking.“But jbond, you’re just going to leave a spreadsheet open to editing for all forum users to mess around? That CAN’T possibly be a good idea.” And you are perfectly correct. It’s a terrible idea, but one I am willing to experiment with. I’ll see how this goes. If it goes to shit, I’ll just dump the entire thing. Or find an alternate solution.
In the meantime, feel free to post suggestions and ideas. I need a crapload more achievements, as the spreadsheet barely skims the surface of what is possible to turn into achievements. So go wild, send suggestions and ideas my way, and I’ll catch up when and if I can. Or not. I don’t really know yet.

Introductory FAQ
What the fuck is this?
Basically, a spreadsheet open to editing to anyone who can read this thread. Inside it, achievements are listed. Keep track of what you do on Steamgifts and add a checkmark to achievements as you earn them. It's really simple, there's nothing more to it.
How the fuck does this work?
Read the FAQ & Guide below. It's very simple.
Why the fuck would I participate?
There is absolutely no reason to do so. There are no giveaways (yet) and no prizes or rewards. This is as pointless as Steam achievements.
This seems like a terrible idea, really.
That's not a fucking question. But I'll allow it, and confirm - yes, this is a terrible idea. There is a massive chance of some users completely fucking up the spreadsheet. Hence why this is titled "A Spreadsheet Experiment". I ask all of you who will participate to follow the rules and common sense.
