Oh:s I've used Winamp for most of my years but switched to AIMP3 recently. I still miss Enhancer 0.17 plugin though. I share the thoughts of Romanesco about foobar and iTunes is just crap. I use VLC for video but wouldn't use it for music. I don't use WMP for anything.

it was great a few years ago, but now everyone forgot about it, sad but true.. goodbye winamp

so, no Clementine users here? :D
It's sad to see an old icon shut down but that's the way of things. AOL didn't know where to take the Winamp brand and newer, more specialized software took over the market. It's a shame though, Winamp really whipped the llama's ass for a long time xD

It was my player of choice for years, I'd collected MBs of skins and add-ons too, it was great. Then it got very buggy and unstable, I wasn't able to use it anymore without it freezing or even crashing the os. Shame, I loved it until it worked well. Now I use random programs including VLC, but I can't stand itunes.

Spider Player is another alternative for those whom don't like FB2K

Winamp got too bloated for me. I've been using VLC for years now.

Mostly I listen to music on the net. There are only a few songs on my pc, I use basic windows player for that (about once a month or maybe when net is out).
Nonetheless sad to hear, I used winamp for a long time when i had a much larger music collection on my pc.

Haven't used it in a long time and didn't use it too much.
For a certain period of time it was the best platform for watching stable sports broadcasts that you weren't supposed to watch in your country, or without subscribing to expensive channels/ ppv. There were quite a few solid services where you could pay a small monthly fee and they'd stream the games (I was mostly interested in football/soccer) over winamp for you. These services got eclipsed by free ones utilising other programs long ago.
That was cool though, and around the same time I thought it looked quite good for would-be broadcasters as there were loads of winamp radio stations which I'd sometimes tune in to. Didn't really use it outside of that.

Shame, they are legendary piece of software ever created. I stopped using them years ago tho, latest version is full of bloat and features that I don't need. Now I'm using AIMP3 which is simple and lightweight enough for me.

UPDATE: AOL reportedly to sell Winamp to Microsoft Linky
