Linky to article

Shame, they are legendary piece of software ever created. I stopped using them years ago tho, latest version is full of bloat and features that I don't need. Now I'm using AIMP3 which is simple and lightweight enough for me.

Related to the topic, what's your favorite music player at the moment?

I've been using it for what, 13 years now? Tried Foobar and a couple of others but didn't like them. Bad news for me.

Been using Winamp for 10+ years but recently switched to Foobar and it's great. (Works well with Raidcall)

Maintain my music in Windows Media Player for quite some time (Underrated program imo). Used Winamp a few years ago but won't really miss it. For Videos and extraordinary formats I go with VLC.

Winamp was my first and favorite computer mp3 player.

Windows media got good enough over the years that I switched to it. (I'm lazy that way)

They also lost me when they tried to make it adware-sh, I think around 2004? It got to be a pain to install after a while without jumping thru all these hoops. Though no where near as bad as realplayer was.

I started using it ~1999-2000 or so. That's kind of sad really.

Since I have a big music library and iTunes sucks in managment of big libraries I tested several media library apps like MediaMonkey, MusicBee (One of my favourites so far) and my currently used Helium Music Manager Network Edition (Since I have several PCs and notebooks and my database for Helium is on a centralized MySQL server, well.). Managment of bigger libs with extra stuff is nice and that is where iTunes and many other players lack of features I want, so I stick around with those 3 managers, but normally I use Helium for my needs.

WinAMP was a fine piece of software till around 2002. A7fterwards my music collection got too big for it.

They're selling it to Microsoft? Come one, that's even worse than shutting down...

I (only) use VLC because of the huge coverage of audio and video codecs ^^

One of the first things I downloaded when I got internet in 2002. Along with RealPlayer, QuickTime, VLC, VMClassic. I dont know why but I always had like 5 media players on my PC :D
I recently reinstalled it but don't use it.
