And it's sad when the random games are the best ones, both because it doesn't bode well for the other titles but also because it's kind of a slap in the face to your customers when you simply recycle games from previous more expensive bundles. I've criticized Humble for rebundling games too quickly/cheaply from the Monthly bundles and the same goes for Groupees (in particular with some bundles they charged a premium for not long ago).

Is there a way to be notified of when such bundles are available for preorder? I always miss the extremely tiny time window when the price is like halved :/

There's a time window of 24h to get notified. I don't know of any notification method apart from the mails that they send from time to time.
I usually get notified by other SG users, since I don't have a Groupees tab open with the chat at all times.

I use https://bundleupdates.com , just sign up with Steam and tweak your user configuration.
You will receive an e-mail notification every time a new bundle is detected, even when it's only on preorder (you'd receive a second one once the contents are revealed). It also works for all kind of Groupees bundles, not just games, so if you like their music bundles you won't miss them.
